Oh where, oh where has this day gone?
Up at five and then 'va-va-voom', it is noon.
Had my lunch and started some things,
Gosh it is now suppertime.

Went for a walk, not very far,
Just down to Del Range, and around the airport,
Back up along the other side,
Didn't think it was but a few miles.

Got back home, feet felt tired,
That piece of gum was dang nigh gone,
And the clock said two hours, thirty-three,
Must have walked mighty slow.

Guess I must have walked
Eight or ten miles,
I just walk lickety-split,
'Cept I do stop and look.

But where did this rapid day go?
Shucks it really flew,
Now it is supper time,
Pinto beans and cornbread time.

Packing for a trip is a breeze, well it is for me,
Just some socks, drawers, shirts and pants,
And that canvas ditty bag.
Only takes about five minutes.

Now others I know, but I won’t give names,
They take two or three days.
Shucks sometimes I guess,
Takes them longer to pack than to go on the trip.

But me, I just laugh and say,
My packing is simplicity.
Don’t dress fancy, same clothes are for
Each different occasion.

Things are simple, to we simple ones,
And complex, if you make it so.
And retired life for me,
Is the extreme of simplicity.

Sitting here writing, and watching the birds,
Is to me, some good therapy.
Just relax and watch the Blue Jays fuss and fight,
Then make sure I don’t make the wife mad.

Life is good, life flows smooth,
And plugs along without any bumps,
You just have to relax and let it come to you,
For easy is as easy does, and I don’t like hard work.
