"Three Books I Would Risk My Life For"
Have you ever read a book you had so much interest in that you wanted to tell people about it or take it everywhere you went? The novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury is about people that can not read books and are not allowed to carry them. If you had a book and people found out they would burn your house down with all the books inside. Montag, the main character was a fireman. It was his job to burn books. He was in a situation in which a lady killed herself because she had a strong belief that books should not be destroyed. She wanted to stand up for her rights. The fireman had sprayed her house with kerosene, and she did the honors and lit the match with many books in her hands. Montag did not understand why it was so important to the government that they were not allowed to have books. Montag took many books and he hid them in his house. Finally someone found out; and they burned his house down. In this novel there was several men that saved their books and did not tell anyone about them; they were in a group and Montag met them. The way they did things was that they had to memorize a whole book; Word by word. If I had to save three books and not tell anyone about it they would probably be The Bible, Webster’s Pocket English Dictionary by P.H Collin, and Spells by Matthew Green.
There are many different religions and cultures. Many of religions have their own Bible. The Bible is very important. It indicates who you are and where you came from. The Bible has been going on for years. They say ever since 1611. We don’t know if it is true or not. There was another edition of the people in 1769 with is the one we are using today in America. There are many different languages it is written in today. That is why I think we should always have The Bible with us to matter what. When we need help or need to understand something it is there for us. That is why The Bible is one of the books I would like to take with me if I was Montag.
Webster’s Pocket English Dictionary should be carried around everywhere. What if someone was talking to me and I did not understand what they were saying because they were using big words. I have a dictionary right in my pocket I could get out and look the words up. That is how simple it is. The Webster’s Pocket English Dictionary was written by P.H Collin. A dictionary tells you the word and how it is spelled. It tells you the definition of the word. The dictionary is very helpful, and there are millions of words being used. They are all in the dictionary. Many people have dictionaries in their houses today. We use them all the time, but then again there are computers that help us out too. Many people can not afford computers. That is why I would carry my dictionary around if I was in Montag’s position in the novel Fahrenheit 451.
Montag did not know what was going on. He did not think. He did not have an imagination. The government would not let them think for themselves. That is why I would pick Spells to take with me. This book is great. When you read it, it makes you think and have an imagination. Lets you become more open minded. It was written by Matthew Green. If I had to memorize a book; word by word. I would memorize this book. It is not a children’s book. It is a book that helps you grow or expand your mind just a little bit more. It is almost like you wanted to be in the book; like you are dreaming it. That is why I would pick Spells by Matthew Green as my last book if I was Montag.
We all know there is no way that we will ever be in Montags position. Just to think more then we always do. We should always think what is ahead of us because we just never know. I think everyone should read The Bible, unless it is against your religion or you could read one of your own religions Bibles. Webster’s Pocket English Dictionary is book that helps us with our grammar, spelling mistakes and/or definitions. Spells is a book that anyone or everyone should read. It is just a book that makes you think and thinking is good (sometimes). It also makes you imagine and dream about your life and how you are going to live it. Fahrenheit 451 was an amazing book. I loved reading it and I think you should too.
