History-
The Whitecourt Venturers have been active nearly as long as there was a scouting association in Whitecourt. In 1999-2000 our advisor was Janice Pudgurney, and there were three Venturers participating. At the beginning of 2000, interest was at a low, and there were no Venturers until four youth decided at the end of October to begin a company. In 2001-2002 we lost one youth (to post-secondary school), and gained 6 youth and another advisor. This year we have again seen an increase in our size as three new members joined, though one left to post-secondary education. That brings our new total to 12 youth and 2 adults.
Interests-
The 12 youth of the Whitecourt
Venturers have many diverse interests. Together, we agree on a few of them,
including camping, downhill skiing, wide games, and just plain having fun. High
interest also runs in this group for backpacking, quinzee building, attending
youth group, wall climbing, hiking, chess, computers, and card games.
