Common mistakes
- You ignoramus!
Contrary to popular belief. Weakest Link is not from the US as other
Pinoys would think. Check out the real lowdown of Weakest Link in
the UK. Read and be enlightened.
Finton
Coyle and Cathy Dunning were out to make a quiz show in the hopes
of getting audiences. It was firstly called "University
Challenge," and later "The Money Chain." They later
hired "Watchdog" host, Anne
Robinson. They thought she
looked as if she knew the answers and could handle the players being
removed from the game.
But
as the quiz show progressed, Anne became more firm, and the players
shelling out more attitude than ever. She maintained to smile and
soothe down the players when needed. And because of one mistake and
attitude of a certain player. She stood up, frowned, and shouted
out: "YOU ARE THE WEAKEST LINK, GOODBYE!" This became the
solid catchphrase and the beginning of a game show with an attitude.
Then
in August 2000. The quiz show "The Weakest Link," quietly
appeared on BBC2 in the UK. Anne's smile was replaced with a firm
face anyone would love to hate. Her hostile treatment to the players
were very intriguing enough, and her steady barrage of insults got
the attention of viewers around the UK.
The
original Weakest Link has nine players and £10,000 at stake. It was
taped in BBC studios in London. The premise is just simple enough.
Answer questions and your money pot adds up. A simple mistake and
bring you back to zero. But here's the thing: in every round, one
player is eliminated. Adding insult to injury, the person who was
voted out gets back to the post-vote interview. Ranting to what
happened. As for the money, only one person can win the money prize,
as the others who were eliminated would leave with:
"Nothing!"
