| Another group of founding mothers came from amoung the domestics and indentured servants. For these women, their passage and expenses were paid for by the French settler, in exchange for a pre-determined length of service. Though not necessarily an incentive for population growth, many of these women did remain in the French colony, married and raised families; adding their names to the Founding Mothers of New France. |
