March 28th: It's about time for the annual four-month update of 1983 News. In case you missed it, 1983 returned to live action March 4th when they played at Paul VI's Marathon Madness fundraiser. The all night event was apparently for a good cause. Special thanks to the fans who came out to support. I know I met some cool kids that actually like our music and even learned a valuable way to meet girls, namely by tossing your keys out in front of them (Thanks Rudy). We played a good set which premiered one of our newest songs, some good oldies, and some material to be released on our ??upcoming cd. We hope to record and release the cd in May, but it may not get done until June. No promises on a release date, but we have a lot of material that we want to get out there, so look out world. Also, John added some pictures to the site that we had compiled from shows. Enjoy. Keep it real.

November 20th:
1983 has been on hiatus for a while since Jimmy went away to school, but there is still some big news from 1983. First, 1983 was contacted by a film company about having "Man of La Mancha" appear on their street racing documentary "Car Antics". More news to follow if we ever hear back from them. Second, Boyer from the Misadventures is in the process of putting out a sampler of local bands on his record label Love Shack Records. "Man of La Mancha" will be the lead off track on this sampler, so do yourself a favor and pick it up to hear some good local music. Finally, 1983 will get back to practicing during Thanksgiving break and over winter break. We hope to play some shows in January so if anyone has open slots or a party, let us know. Also, we are planning to record a second cd sometime in early 2005. Keep checking back for more news. Thanks.

July 20th: 1983 on ice is coming to Dale City, Virginia on July 31st. We are going to attempt to pull-off a 1 1/2 hour set.  Pretty crazy, some covers and guest musicians may appear, so go see this once and a lifetime show.

May 3rd: 1983's been pretty busy lately, working on our new (and first) cd, but it's finally finished.  Loyal fans will be surprised at the changes made to Man of la Mancha.  Bassoon and Spart went back and finished that up at Human Factor Productions about a month or so ago.  The rest of the cd was recorded at Nothing but Noise Studios.  A fun time was had by all, and it just so happens we made a pretty damn good cd in the process. Pick it up and support your local scene. That's all the news for now;

p.s. don't forget to check the shows page for updates, cause we're a touring machine

January 29th: Where has all the time gone? we've only got 11 months left this year. Well the show on the tenth was a lot of fun. We played with some awesome dudes and had a really good time. We are hoping to get into the studio some time soon. Hopefully before the end of February. 1983 frisbees are being constructed and hopefully be ready for our cd release party which is scheduled to be sometime in the future. it should be fun. stay safe.

December 31st: Well last year (2003) was really good. It was the year that we finally got started. It was a lot of fun. We have a lot of great memories and that's just great. We're kickin off the new year with a kickass show on the 10th (check out the flyer).Come out and see the first show of 2004. it should be great we're playing with 4 other great bands. Everything is pretty great here. So have a good new year. -matt z

December 14th:
Well a lot has happened for 1983 as well as the whole world in the last 14 hours. The Misadventures, the warriors of VCC, are officially done. This brings only sadness to the 1983 family as well as the rest of the world. And while others thought it was more important to stay home to study for exams, it was truely a great show. TMA will truely be missed by all. Also this mourning i recieved word that we caught Sadam Hussain (sp). so..yeah um good luck on exams, too cool. -matt z

August 31st:
Let me give you the rundown. We have a couple of shows coming up. We will be playing September 13th and November 8th at VCC. Thanks to TMA for the invitation to Sept 13. The November show will be the second all O'Connell band show (just like the one in March). Complete show info can be found in the Shows section. Hopefully we will see a lot of you at one or both of the shows. They should be a lot of fun.
In other news, we have added a lyrics page to the site, so check it out and learn some of the lyrics to sing along with.

July 16th: Well we rocked the house at phil's on the 11th. it was gangsterific. we showed super movies 4 too. There were a few technical difficulties, but all in all what more could you ask. we just got Man of La Mancha on MP3.com. i don't have the link on this page but if you go back to the index page, or the home page you'll get the link. Or if you want search of "The 1983 Experience" on mp3.com. we hope you like it. that's all for now.

June 7th:
well last friday was the last day of school for 1983. we still got finals but soon after we've got a whole rockin summer ahead of us. radical!
yeah the show on the 29th was sweet. well it was ok. as long as we can remember to tune before songs (we being matt z). yeah it was pretty good al around. everyone seemed like that had a good time. I know i sure did. well yeah we're probably not going to play at danny's house on the 14th cause of scheduling difficulties. But have no fear we'll get some new shows and be back in action. thanks for joining us on this journey. we'll see you soon. XOXOXO ;)

May 28th:
hey all. On monday we practiced to get ready for the show on friday. We're all very excited. It should be a great time as long as the weather holds out. we'll be playing our normal set (the one we played at VCC) with the addition of 3 new/unreleased songs (neptune (our oldest song) fire bird, and dump dozer) We have some tricks up our sleeves. nothing gross disturbing or offensive-sorry :(. But it should be a good time. we hope you all have a good time, we know we will. (on a personal note this will be DJ F1ll's debut performance. check out the show page for details!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

May 7th: Yo yo. We're just chillin, we've had a lot of down time cause of baseball and everything but stuff has happened.
We've been working with  DJ Fill and he'll be joing us on some songs with his turn tables. (think more like primus meets incubus) it should be interresting.
We have a few shows comming up like i said before. may 30th we'll be playing the bandstand at sudley methodist church. as long as the weather holds out. And possibly june 7th at danny's house. (for more information go to the Shows page)
That's about all we got. thanks for stopping by.

April 11th: Damn, my bad (mattz's) for not updateing this section lately. March 8th we played the VCC show with TMA, FO, Orez, and 3rd C. (haha triple C). Mostly successful show. A PA didn't come til a little late but we still played a halfway decent set. I know i had a good itme. It was kinda crazy, but it was all for good in the end. Everyone had fun and nothing was hurt but feelings
We've been practiceing on and off since then and have been writeing and perfecting our set. we are probably gonna play june 7th and may 30 if not sooner. But have no fear we aren't pulling a glencoe stop or ntr. We're still around.(I'll update this a lot more frequently) peace - matt z

January 18th:
We kinda played a set. We played junk car, yao ming, talking trash can, Man of la mancha, and then a whole lot of bad noise. Now everyone thinks we suck.
as of now noone is looking forward to march 8th.

January 12th:
Spart and Bassoon went to B studios to record their parts for man of la mancha. it was pretty good. i hope we finish it up next weekend.
