Great Goal # 3
Picture the scene. The last minute of a cup tie. The major mission was accomplished - his team was going through to the quarter finals of the cup to face the Premier League Champions. His Angels career was going to be extended by at least one further game. As left back, it was unlikely he would get a chance to score in the next game. Angels win a corner. Up he runs to the edge of the box, using his co-captains' authority to send Alderman back to defend in the event of a break. The corner is played short. Sam sees him standing clear on the edge of the box and lays it off. The right, silver clod boot swings and misses. His dream was over. Until...

Pete picks up the ball on the left hand side of the box. Still no defenders had picked up the short defender still waiting on his own on the edge of the Spiers' box. Pete lays it off to him again. This time the left boot swings as the ball bobbles slightly off the ground. Against all expectations, the ball flies through the air, beating a flailing keeper and defenders on the line and nestles into the top left corner. Stunned, the Angel wheels away, right arm raised in celebration and jumps towards the other co-captain. They are joined by Mike Steel and Jesper in mass celebrations. Tonkin piles on top of the hugging, jumping circle. The rest of the Angels run over to celebrate a wonderful finish to a magnificient team performance. The final whistle blew and the team were shocked. As the referee asked for the name of the scorers, they were reeled off in order: Guyatt (aka Steel), Harris, Wilkie, Marrs and...Yarrow. 18 games and one goal. When asked about it, he said:

"It was unbelievable. Literally. I just thought what the hell, we're 4-1 up i'm never going to get a chance to score against DR Hole. Let's see what happens. When I fluffed the first one, I thought that was it, but when Pete laid it off to me and I connected and it went in, stunned, sheer delight was the only way to sum it up. It was great to celebrate it with the team".
