My interest in weather and severe weather in general started in my childhood years. The interest came from a fear of lightning hitting a pine needle tree in  Southwest Little Rock behind my house, where I lived for 8 years. I wondered how lightning occured, what made the really loud sound ,and what caused severe weather to occur.  This interest became stronger as I often began to watch the weather channel as often as I would watch cartoons on saturday morning.  In my elementary years into my junior high school years, I read anything that involved weather from the library, which was often just one or two books the library had in its collection.  My high school years lead me to a pilot program that is currently  being adopted around the country, the Environmental and Spartial Technology Program , or EAST  While in  the  EAST program, I undertook a project with a high school classmate to design a siren warning system for the city of Greenbrier, Ar. The project's original purpose was to design a system that could  effectively warn residents of Greenbrier of severe weather, but the  siren system adopted for the project was also equipped for civil defense warnings.  The project and research involved was completed within 3 years, but the project was not adopted by the city counsel till the June after  my high school graduation.  Now, after nearly three years of gong to Pulaski Tech, I am able to pursue a lifelong interest and dream of being a meteorologist at ULM.
