The Last Ride of Zambarzan's Lord |
The frazzled Lord of Zambarzan Gazed out his window with elan The moon was gold the sea was red He laid down slowly on his bed. Just then a noise was heard without (The sounds of panic, fear, and rout) His valet pounded on his door "Come in!" he shouted with a roar. "My Lord! My Lord!" the valet squealed And then bad tidings he revealed "The Leprous Werewolf has returned Your edict he has clearly spurned!" Zambarzan's Leader rose in wrath "Go, slave, and draw my bubble-bath For I must calm my fevered blood This Werewolf's name henceforth is MUD!" The wind was blowing icy chill The Lord went forth with dauntless will To meet the Werewolf face-to-face "This Fiend's existence I'll erase!" The sun was pale the sky was gray As he rode forth in royal array His trusty sword hung by his side New-tipped with silver for this ride. The sky was gray the sun was pale "This time," he swore, "I shall not fail I'll slay that Werewolf and his hide As my hearthrug shall abide!" But werewolves are a clever breed They can reason when there's need And Leprous Werewolves can be wise At putting on a good disguise. So when he met a Maiden fair He did not know nor did he care That when the moon was full and round She was wild cousin to the hound. He sat and broke his fast with her (And flirted much..you may be sure) Those twain then spent a lovely day Engaged in Love's delightful play. That night again he ate with her Nor noticed when her skin grew fur The first he noticed aught was ill Was when the wolf lunged for the kill. There's no Lord now in Zambarzan The wolves roam freely in that land The people cower in the huts Till sunrise tames the lycansluts! Cassandra Morrison Copyright ©2001 Cassandra Anne Morrison |
