| The dogs have done it, We are the 2004 NRL Champions after beating the roosters 16-13 in the Grand Final to take out the coveted Summons Provan Trophy. The game started in the drizzling rain which caused a few mistakes throughout the game turning it into a closely fought match instead of the fast open match everyone was expecting. The roosters took 17 minutes to score and after going to a 6 nil lead the dogs fought back in the 24th minute to be behind 6-4. A little after we kicked a penalty to level the scores 6-6. Late in the first half the roosters kicked a field goal to go ahead 7-6 then scored to go in at half time 13-6. At half time I wasn't to concerned as our second half play in games this year has been good an we have either gone on with the win or have come home strongly to win. 4 minutes in and we scored and with El Magic kicking a blinder from the sideline we were 1 point behind. With 20+ minutes to go El Magic scored himeself but missed the goal to leave us up by 3 points 16-13. After some very close and heart wrenching moments with my heart nearly jumping out of my chest the dogs held on with some fine defense to become 2004 PREMIERS...... Myself at home and the players and the crowd went off, it was great to finally exercise the demons from the past few years. Personally I think the Dogs winning this year was not what the NRL or the Dogs critics wanted as it has left egg on the faces on a lot high profile people.... We are and deserve to be the NRL Champions...... GO THE DOGS!!!!!! |
