Web sites that may be helpful | ||
www.mathforum.com This site is home to Ask Dr. Math, Problem of the week and month, and several math discussion groups. I highly recommend the problem of the... for students - parents do not have to check the answers since the students email in the answers and get feedback back from the university!! www.mathcounts.org This site also has problem of the... designed primarily for the middle level students. It also talks about the math counts challenges and contests. www.teachervision.com This is a huge site with lesson plans, worksheets, and answers to almost all subject areas. I have enjoyed using many of the math lesson plans although I usually print out the "extra" web site pages instead of sending my kids out on the web :) www.securenet.net/members/smedleg/ This site has some "cool tips" for mathematics that although they do not "teach" the basics they do make the basics more fun. Their are also a lot of other subjects listed on this site. www.nationalmathtrail.org This site has numerous lessons about math in the "real" world. The problems are submitted by schools from around the world and include photos of the "question." If your students do not use these lessons, they still give you a great start for finding math all around you. www.nsa.gov/programs/mepp/lu.html This site has ready made lessons for K-12 in mathematics. http://milan.milanovic.org/math/english/contents.html Grades: 9 - 12 This web site gathers a host of facts and figures about mathematical topics such as Pascal's triangle, Fibonacci numbers, and the Golden Section, as well as the connections between the concepts. |
