I am 15 years old, and for the past 5 years, my face has been constantly broken out. Not normal acne, like what all my other friends have, but horrible. I'll try to put up pictures because the best sites I've seen are the ones that show before and after pictures, even though its really embarrassing. Anyways, I have huge pimples on both of my cheeks, and also I have horrible acne on my neck, shoulders, back, and chest. I have been on various creams, such as Clinac BPO, Tazorac, and Retin A, and I have also been on Doryx. None of these worked, so my doctor finally suggested Accutane. I had never heard of Accutane, and he began telling me about all the side effects. I had to stop him and ask him if it was effective at curing acne. He said "Oh, yeah, it clears up just about everyone who uses it, just with varying degrees of side effects." He seemed to be saying "Of course it will clear up your acne, that's not the question here. The question is are you ready for the side effects." I did my homework, and read a bunch of people's personal Accutane stories, and now I decided to write my own journal. Wish me luck, and clear skin! |

I have been on Accutane for almost a week now. So far I haven't noticed any real changes. My lips are extremely chapped, but they were a little chapped before I started Accutane. They probably won't heal as quickly because of the accutane, but I cant say that Accutane was the sole reason for them chapping in the first place. THE PIMPLE REPORT: (This is a gross part. Here I count exactly how many of each kid of pimple I have. Gross, but extremely helpful) On my right cheek, I have about eight large boil like pimples, and about 20 smaller pimples. On my left cheek, I have about six large boil like pimples and around 15 smaller pimples. In general, I usually have more on my right then my left. I had a very large one before I started 'tane right above my nose, in between my eyes, It really bothered me. Thank G-d, it's going away now and getting smaller. |
