Remember being a teenager listening to John Denver singing, Well I work all day and I fiddle when I can…, but thinking he was singing Well I work all day and I piddle in a can instead?  Or how about thinking Elton John was singing, Hold me closer, Tony Danza, instead of Hold me closer, Tiny Dancer?  Boy, your college buddies never let you forget that one, even 20 yrs later.  It can be so frustrating when an artist doesn't include lyrics with their CD's.  Fortunately, there are people who are willing to sit down and listen to a song over and over again to get the lyrics just right so you don't have to look like the village idiot when you sing your favorite song in the car with your buddies.  Well, if you sing like me, all the correct lyrics in the world won't help you from having a beer can bullseye on the side of your head, but every little bit helps.  Maybe you're looking to find out when your favorite band, Me First and the Gimmie Gimmies, are coming to town, or how you can

download one of their songs for a trial listen.  Here are a few sites to help you with your music needs.

The first site is called the Ultimate Band List and it has everything you need to know about music today.  If you're looking for websites

dedicated to your favorite singer/band, just type in the artist's name and UBL will bring up all the websites dedicated to that artist.  This is where you can find the lyrics you were looking for.  If you're in a band and want to get your music on the internet, UBL lets you upload a tune from your band, as well as your bio and web site.   This gives you a little more leverage in trying to win that hot cheerleader, Muffy, away from that musclehead QB, Thad.  You can also sign up for contests, hear the latest music news, find radio stations, and record labels, etc.  This is an excellent all-around site for anyone with even the slightest interest in music.

This next site is a company that sells CD mixes of new music in many categories.  PromoOnly also connects you to just about every major

record label, all the music video web sites (i.e. MTV, VH1, etc.),

Billboard On-line, Ticketmaster, and a bunch of links dedicated to DJ's, Audio and Lighting, and nightclubs.  To get to these links you will have to go to the PromoOnly homepage, and then click on the Cool Music Links! on the left.

If you're looking to buy some music, or you're looking for information about specific CD's, then check out Amazon.com's music section.  You can also find out about future releases, and even download some free music, but don't expect it to be anything on the top 100 singles chart.

Now, for the serious musician, check out Harmony Central.  This site has everything for anyone even thinking about playing an instrument, to someone touring with Counting Crows.  Get guitar tabs for just about everything, and check out the different departments for drums, bass, guitar, midi, keyboards, recording, etc.

If you are a drummer and you want to visit the shrine for Neil Peart, then check out Drummer Links 2001.  Here you'll find links to the top drummers in the world.  If you want to see yourself on the list

someday, then check out Harmony's Central's drum lessons.  Every chance I get I download some new piece of music and irritate the heck out of my neighbors until I've learned how to play it.  They throw things through my windows now, but wait until I get that gig with The Rolling Stones.  Then who'll have the last laugh?  For links to the top guitar players, go to Guitar Links 2001.  This has links for everyone from Eric Clapton to Pat Methany, there's even one to my brother's page,

B.D. Lenz.  Here you can download samples of his music.  If you like it and want to order a CD, just send me an e-mail.

Whether you play a musical instrument, or just the stereo, there are so many ways to keep in touch with what's happening in music today.  These are just a few.  I'm sure that each site has links to many more

music sites, so go explore when you get the chance.  If you have the time, do a search on Google to find your favorite Christian ska bongo player. Me, I'm gonna go learn the lyrics to the new songs, "Third Broken Window Blues" and "Turn Your Own Damn Stereo Down".
