Effects on Yahoo

YAHOO HAS REMOVED ADULT CLUBS FROM THE DIRECTORY!
We need your support before they're deleted for good!

In one swift action, Yahoo has completely removed the ENTIRE Adult section from Yahoo Clubs & Yahoo Groups! This means eliminating well over 100,000 of its most active & largest clubs! This decision was made and action was taken just this last Friday, April 13. Apparently, this action was in response to some bad publicity the company received after expanding it's selection of adult-oriented materials offered through Yahoo Shopping. Instead of actually correcting the real problem, Yahoo instead made the rash decision to eliminate all adult content from their ENTIRE network!

We must Spread the Word!

These recent actions by Yahoo reflect very bad judgement, since they will negatively impact every user of Yahoo in one way or another. What's more, I think Yahoo has failed to realise the extent that this will hurt them as well. Here are just a few of the MANY ways this will hurt you as a user:

  • The most obvious detrement will be to the users of Adult Clubs, since they will have a hard time finding another source that provided such high quality content at no charge. What's more, should they choose to continue using Yahoo's services, they will be unable to express themselves as even the United States constitution guarantees them(1st amendment anyone).

  • The founders of these clubs are getting ROYALLY SCREWED(pardon the language), because they are having months and sometimes years of hard work taken away from them. Yahoo has never made ANY indication prior to this point that they were headed in this direction, so it would be wrong to betray the trust that these founders placed in Yahoo. After all, they are largely responsible for Yahoo's great success!

  • All users of Yahoo Clubs(all Yahoo users for that matter) will be negatively affected by the removal of Adult Clubs. Up until now, those interested in adult-oriented material have had an outlet. An outlet, I may add, that has been kept segregated from those who didn't want to see it or were too young to see it. With the absence of Adult Clubs, users will undoubtedly infiltrate the mainstream clubs, which until now have been relatively untouched. Therefore, Yahoo will be responsible for Adult material being placed in front of those who don't want to see it, and are too young to see it! That kind of defeats their original purpose, doesn't it? Yahoo will not have the resources to combat this problem, along with the large amount of criticism and lawsuits that would ensue(especially with their recent 12% layoffs). Rather than face a mountain of problems, it would be highly likely that Yahoo would just DELETE ALL CLUBS!
We need everyones' help to save our clubs, so make sure to Join the Petition and Spread the Word!
