Angel Among Us
Justin ran down the aisle and jumped on JC, "Baby, I need you."
"Justin we can't just do it right here. What about the guys?"
"No, baby. I didn't mean it that way. Although? No I need you to come into the building. There's this girl there that really wants to meet you."
"What? Why me? I thought you were the favorite?"
"Come on, Jayce. She can't wait all day."
JC got up and followed Justin back into the venue that they had just had their soundcheck at. When they got to the dressing room Justin stopped and turned around, "Now don't act surprised ok?"
"Justin? What's?" He trailed off as Justin opened the door and led him into the room.
"Here he is Angel. I told you he'd be right in."
JC looked around the room and didn't see a thing. As he walked farther into the room he noticed an arm hanging off the side of what looked to be a wheel chair.
"Justin?"
"Angel. JC's here sweetie." Justin walked to the chair and looked down at the girl. The smile immediately left his face and he turned to the phone. Upon picking it up he dialed, "Hello, yes I need an ambulance." He gave the operator their location and told them what was going on. When he looked up at JC, he saw the brunette had moved to the young girl.
"Justin, she's still breathing. Did you tell them that? I think they might have needed to know that."
"Jayce, she's dying. Her last wish in this world was to meet you."
"What? Oh, God. Why was I being such a jerk?" He took the girl's hand, kissed it and looked up, "Please don't let her die yet."
"Jayce? You gotta get out of the way, the emergency crew is here now." Justin pulled JC out of the way.
"Ok, which one of you called?" Justin raised his hand. "Good, you know this girl?"
"No, she just showed up and asked to see JC. I went to go get him and when we got back she was just like this."
"Ok, so you don't know where she came from or where her parents might be?"
"No."
"Look. She's still breathing. Shouldn't you be doing something to try and help her instead of berating him?" JC interrupted, stepping between the medic and Justin.
"I'm sorry sir, but there is nothing we can do for her. We will take her to the hospital but there really is nothing we can do. Do either of you want to go with her?"
"Yes," Justin exclaimed.
"Can we both go along? I'd hate for her to have to go alone."
"I suppose. We don't normally allow it, but since she doesn't seem to have any family?"
"Thank you." They stated in unison.
"You're welcome. Shouldn't you be telling someone you're leaving?"
"Yes, hang on just a second." Justin pulls out his cell phone and dials Lance. "Hey, Jayce and I are going to the hospital. No. We're both fine. Yeah just come get us later. We'll be fine. Thanks." He hangs up the phone and gets into the ambulance.
They ride to the ambulance in silence. When they arrive at the hospital the girl is immediately taken into a room where the doctors swarm around her. JC and Justin try desperately to disappear into the waiting room. They're actually pretty successful for the first hour that they are waiting until a busload of cheerleaders pull up. The two of them immediately try to hide in the bathroom. They let the nurse at the desk know where they would be and then almost ran to the nearest bathroom.
Two hours later the doctor that had been attending the girl came in looking for them. They were sitting on the floor staring at each other, with tears in their eyes.
"Excuse me, are you two the ones that rode in with the young girl from the stadium?"
"Yes, that's us." JC stated as they both got up off the floor.
"Well, we did everything we could but she's not gonna make it. Would you like to see her?"
"Yes, please." JC said softly.
"Follow me please."
They followed the doctor down the hall and into a room. They looked at the form on the bed, both quietly approached the bed on either side. They both took a hand in theirs and just stood there. After several minutes the girl slowly opened her eyes and smiled at them.
"Hey, I told you I'd be right back," Justin tried.
This got a small grin from the girl.
"So, you got a name?" JC smiled. "You gave us quite a scare there girl."
"I'm sorry." She whispered.
"You don't have to apologize. So what did you want to see me about?"
"I just wanted to give you this little bear that I made for you." She hands him a stuffed bear with a note rolled up in it's hand. "You can't read the note until after I die though."
"What? You're gonna be fine. You just need your rest."
"Please don't lie to me. I've know for a long time that I was gonna die. I've made my peace with it. I just really hoped it would happen after I got to see you in concert. That wish was fulfilled so now I'm ready to move on. Please don't be sad for me."
"Where are your family? Don't you want them to be here?"
"They'll be here when it's time. They knew where I was going. The hospital has my records. You just have to tell them my name and they'll know who to call. You don't have to worry about anything."
"But I don't want you to be alone. That's not right. No one should have to be alone like this."
"I'm not alone. I have you and Justin here with me. How many other girls do you think would take my place?"
"That's not even funny. Don't joke like that." JC smirked. "You're bad girl."
"But how true am I?" She raised her eyebrow. Then started to cough.
Justin reached over and helped her get a drink from the glass of water. "You ok?" He asked quietly.
"As ok as I can be. I'm tired. Will two please stay with me, please?"
"Of course we will." Justin smiled and took a seat on the side of the bed.
"Hey, before you fall asleep. What's your name?" JC tried to ask, but she had already fallen asleep.
They sat there for a couple hours watching this strange young girl who had touched their hearts in a way that no one had before.
"Justin?"
"Hmm?"
"What would you do if that was me in that bed?"
"What? Please don't ask me that. I couldn't live without you Jayce. You are my life. You are my everything."
"Justin," JC whispered and walked to the side of the bed that Justin had been perched upon. "You know you mean everything to me. You are my inspiration. I love you so much that it scares me sometimes. When I looked into that girl's eyes before all I could do was see you're beautiful face and it scarred me. I really don't know what I would do without you in my life. I think, if something ever happened to you, I'd die of a broken heart not long after."
Justin pulled JC into a hug, then they gently kissed. Neither of them noticed the eyes watching them from the bed. They kissed for a couple of minutes until the heart monitor flatlined and scarred them out of it.
"She looks so much more relaxed now." JC observed.
"Wonder what put that smile on her face." Justin wondered.
"You gentlemen will have to leave now. Her family has arrived. They'd like to talk to you before you leave though." The nurse stated.
"Where are they?" JC asked, as they followed the nurse from the room.
"Just follow me. I'll take you to them."
They walked down the hall and into a different waiting room. There they were introduced to the girl's father, mother and two little brothers. The family thanked them for bringing the girl back to the hospital. They had been looking all over for her until the hospital had called them an hour ago and told them two gentlemen had brought their daughter back in. The family explained how they knew it had to be two members of their group because their daughter had been such a big fan of their music. They also explained how she had written this note that she desperately needed to get to "JC" of their group. When JC identified himself, they made sure he had received the note.
"Have you read it yet?" The mother asked.
"No. In fact I had completely forgotten about it til just now." He pulled out the bear with its note. He unrolled the note and scanned it over.
"What's it say, Jayce?" Justin asked.
JC cleared his throat and began to read.
Dear JC,
I'm sorry that you're reading this. Since you are that means that I'm no longer among the living here on earth. Please don't feel bad for me or my family. We've had plenty of time to get used to the idea of me dieing.
I'm writing this because I want to thank you for being the most wonderful person I've ever had the grace to know. Now I know you're thinking that "This girl is crazy, we just met not more than a couple of hours ago." Well that might be true but I have felt that I've known you for much longer. I know I probably don't know anything about your real life but I like to think that I know you at least a little.
I'm rambling I know. I just wanted you to know that no matter what happens in your life you should always make sure that Justin knows that you love him. Don't hide your love from him, he needs you too. A lot of your fans believe that you and Lance may be together but I know in my heart that you are with Justin. If you aren't you should be. He loves you as much as you love him. Let him know.
Please take care of each other. I'll try to look in on you from time to time. I'm hoping God will allow me to check in on his two most wonderful Angels.
