CROCHETED QUILTS!!
Hand Crocheted AFGAHNS from Popular Quilt Patterns!!
As you can see by this picture, I love to crochet! I've been crocheting for 39 years. In the beginning I did a lot of work in thread -- doilies, tablecloths, Christmas ornaments, etc. About four years ago while visiting with our grandson in Maryland, I took out my whittling. Trey wanted to "help". I was so worried that he might cut himself that I drove to the nearest Walmart and got some yarn. I started in on an afghan and discovered that I really enjoyed laying out the patterns for quilts and crocheting them. I use graph paper and colored markers to make my patterns.
All my afghans are made with 4-ply worsted weight acrylic yarn. They are both machine washable and dryable. The sizes vary because of the quilt patterns that I choose.
The FLOWER BASKET afghan measures 74 inches by 56 inches. It is made in squares, rectangles and triangles sewn together with a border crocheted all round for a finish.
The FLYING GEESE afghan measures 72 inches by 48 inches and is crocheted squares sewn together. The border is added after the piecing.
The NINE PATCH afghan measures 76 inches by 56 inches and is crocheted in strips, then sewn together. The border is done after all the piecing.
The OHIO STAR afghan measures 72 inches by 50 inches and is crocheted using large and small blocks, then sewn together. The border is seven crocheted rounds.
The BEAR CLAW afghan is the largest one that I have designed so far. It is the size of a twin bed comforter. I used varigated yarn for the background with black and plum for the "bear claws". The border has a finishing rolled edge.
