Man, Finals are CRAZY. I'm not stressing too hard, but I am sitting in the library at 10:40 pm with a backpack full of diet pepsis and protein bars to get me thru the night. The library's open 24 hours and I just may take advantage of that. First test is in 2 days. I just wish it wasn't at 8 am. Anyway, back to work. Good luck to Jax, Kelly, Phi, Verlan, Jeremy and Seth.

"When you have insomnia, you're never really aleep and you're never really awake. It's like everything's going slow motion." - Ed Norton, Fight Club
Dang, for a while now, i've been watching the sun rise about an hour before I finally fall asleep. Tonight I vow to reset my sleeping schedule!!

Man, if you haven't seen the matrix trailer yet, YOU ARE MISSING OUT. I can't wait... it's out the day before my birthday - and what a present Warner Brothers has for me! This summer's gonna be awesome.

"We cannot always live our dreams. We are lucky enough if we can give a sample of our best, and, in our hearts, we can feel that it has been nobly done." - Justice Holmes, 1900
Yipes. Finals creeping up fast. It's tough to describe the anxiety one feels when taking a law school final. The air is so full of nervous energy. Your heart thumps like mad, you frantically try to recall what you're supposed to recall, and start to regret every bit of fun you had this semester. You look around and all of a sudden everyone else appears smarter than you. They see right through you. They know you're not as prepared as they are. You feel like peeing, though you just came from the bathroom. You're sleepy as hell, but twice as nervous. You start to think things like "what will i do if i fail? what will everyone think of me?" and all logic goes out the door. But as soon as you get over the initial shock of the test, it's all downhill from there. You go into a trance of question-answering and a recalling daze such like no one else is in the room with you. Periodically, you snap out of the daze, start to panic, but fall right back into the groove. 3 hours fly by faster than any 10 minutes in your blessed life. And whatever the outcome, you're glad you survived it.

So anyway, last night I ran into David Copperfield - Yep, Mr. Magic himself - at Denny's when I went for a late night burger. He showed me a few tricks and even taught me one I can do at dinners (using bread rolls, utensils and salt). April Fools. Anyway, I did this silly "Operating systems quiz", seen below.

Exhausted. Freakin' tiiired. Couldn't sleep last night, went into work early, then had class. Probably gonna take a nap, watch some www.homestarrunner.com, maybe watch some warcraft replays, and just straight relax. Life's going pretty good right now - working on an interesting case, doing aerobic kickboxing and keeping up with law school. Not much for the fun zone and hanging out part of life, but just as someone once said to me, "You can work, party, and rest, but you have to choose 2 of the 3."

"What is pain? (FRENCH BREAD!) Will you ever quit? (NO! WE WANT SOME MO'! WE WANT SOME MO'! WE WANT SOME MO'!" - Remember the Titans
Ugh... so tired. Aerobic kickboxing works me hard. However, I do have to admit how feminine the class is. First off, there are like 30 women and 3 guys in the class. Second, there's a lot of segments where we're swinging our hips. If there weren't so many punches and kicks, I'd feel like I'm losing my masculinity. At least there are a lot of firm female booties all around me. There's still too much hip action and marching though.

Much love to RUDY URBANO, US Navy, out there right now.

Check this out: Mp3 of an Iraqi caller, I got it from Joe's Xanga. It's an argument for war from an Iraqi person vs. some United World Peace organization. Sadly, the girl poses no strong arguments for the side of Peace. I'm sure there are stronger points to be made, but this woman filibusters while an Iraqi man is pouring his heart out about the pains and suffering Saddam has inflicted on his people. In fact, Earlier today in Sawfan, Iraq - Iraqi citizens were praising the US Marines and Bush for ridding them of Saddam. Article here. However, I wonder if Foxnews is getting biased propaganda information. On the other hand, Fox News has a great reputation for being objective and I really enjoy the O'Reilly Factor show. Anyway, listen to the mp3. It's pretty much a summary of the pro/anti-war debate going on. The Pro wars have legitimate reasons, while the Anti's just seem to keep saying "More Diplomacy, innocent deaths, and Peace is always the best strategy" type filibustering. However, the Iraqi citizens cannot fix the problem themselves. And we are already at war, so Anti-war people cannot do anything - the armed forces are not gonna pull out at this point.

This ad keeps popping up asking "Wonder what your HS friends look like now?" or something... and the pictures keep making me laugh:
LOL... it's like who are these people?? Aren't these people mad that they're being used to advertise on Yahoo? I'd be pissed. Are these even people? Maybe they're computer generated. Let's hope so. Like - that chick in the bottom-left corner... oh my... I'd hate to have that pic up for sheezy.

"Blessed are the Peacemakers." - Matt 5:9
Just a quick prayer to everyone I know in US services and may/may not be called upon: Rudy Urbano, J.P., Eddie, Wayne Bejosano, Don Bright, and Scott Babione.

"Panic's in the air
Some jumping out of buildings others on their knees in prayer
Some cry out to the sky and yell they aren't quite prepared
You looked god in the face and said forgive me all he did was stare."
- DJ Shadow "Midnight in a Perfect World" (Gift of Gab Remix)
Doesn't that verse scare the heebie jeebies out of you?
Pretty tired today... dunno if it's the warm weather or what. Gonna try and force myself to hit the gym tonight anyway. Kinda procrastinating my torts assignment right now. Oh, i decided to join the kickboxing class over at 24 hour fitness as well as the Ab Xpress class. Gotta get fit for da summer. Speaking of summer, looks like i'll be here in San Diego taking classes and interning for some lawyer (if Jax can hook me up with the job)... Anyway, feel much better than i did last week! Peace.

"Guess who's back in the mutha*@&$# house?" - Snoop Dogg, It Ain't no Fun
Whew, it's good to be back. Was great to see everyone today: Jax, Phipher, Seth, Jeremy, and Kelly to name a few. Despite the marks on my face and stomach, I feel better than I have in a month. Had a talk with the Dean today and decided that it would best serve my legal career if I took Property II over the summer instead of this semester. Dean Dues is an amazing person. Anyway, I hope to jump back on weight training as soon as I'm caught up on my school work.
On a side note, I gave up potato/tortilla chips, french fries (including ones in a California burrito) and all alcoholic beverages for Lent.
Can't wait to see Cynthia and Sue this weekend!

It's ironic. When I was agoraphobic, I couldn't go outside... Now that I have chicken pox, I shouldn't go outside. I miss the days where I could go out and get something to eat, have a face-to-face conversation, and actually have an appetite and taste buds to enjoy the meal. It's only been 4 days, but it seems like forever since I had a normal day, and the end seems so far out of sight. Not to mention the ITCHY PAIN. It's like a hundred ants crawling over my body randomly biting at different time intervals. The worst itches are the bumps on my head. The worst looking are the bumps on my face. The worst pain is when i scrape my leg bumps against furniture by accident. Thanks to everyone taking care of me - especially Jaxors and Daisy for dropping by things that I needed. Thanks to everyone who offered to help me, but I'll be fine. Pretty much all my friends in san diego have helped out or checked up on me. You are all the scratching i need for the itches. (cheesy)

Argh! Having chicken pox sux! I'm itchy all over and i can't scratch. Not to mention my face looks like a disaster area. Suffering!... Suffering...

"I have a headache" "It might be a tumor" "No, eet ees not a tumor... at all!" - Arnold Swartzenegger, Kindergarten Cop
Ugh, I have the worst headache. But what a great smallville, no? I loved the original John Williams superman theme in the background. Of course, the writers deserve huge praise for bringing Christopher Reeve in as the one who tells Clark of his Kryptonian past and his true birth name. He'll probably be the one to tell him about his father Jorelle. What about that crazy message about conquering? I think, and this is probably everyone superman fan's guess, is that it's Brainiac's message left on his ship to trick him. That's my best guess for now, unless the writers are making a spin that Clark's parents are evil... but i doubt it. Anyway, headaaaache. Peace.

"I have failed as much as I've succeeded. But I love my life, I love my wife... and I wish you my kind of success." - Dicky Fox, Jerry McGuire
FINALLY done with my memo. Thanks to Cynthia and my dad who helped proofread. It's probably still not that good, but at least I'm done early enough to get some sleep. Simple weekend: worked on my memo, read cases, worked out, went to church. Man, am I getting chubby! I looked at the ol' belly today and was like "holy heck! what have i done to deserve you!" Ugh... gotta start eating healthier and hitting the gym more often. But school's gotta come first. I just recently started cooking again too. I mostly haven't been cooking b/c i had so many dishes, i didn't want to deal with the kitchen. But now that i cleaned the apt, it's not so bad to cook. Much healthier. Well, not today. Made beenie weenies with Van Camps pork n beans with Ballpark franks.

"YOU WANT MO' FIGHT???" - Jackie Chan in Who Am I?
Today I hit the weights pretty hard. Did dumbbell crashes and machine lat pulls, and then supersetted pull-ups with bardips. I also started stretching and throwing kicks again. I just hope I can keep it all up.

"What, so you're taking his side now?"
"F* sides man, what we need here is a little solidarity!!" - Mr. Pink, Resevoir Dogs
In the midst of a battlefield of drama, the diplomatic negotiators have the toughest job - to take control of the situation without betraying either side. This is how i've felt every day for the last few weeks. What do you do when friends are on both sides of you? What you do is listen to both sides, calmly ration it out for yourself, and still do NOTHING. Because even the slightest hint of taking a side will snowball into non-neutrality. The only thing I can do is offer advice, offer a comforting shoulder, try and maintain all the friendships and pray. The only thing i can do is be a counselor; not a lawyer and definitely not the judge. Each party has to represent themselves and ultimately God will hand out the verdicts.
2.19.03
Yummmm, had carne asada fries for the first time today. Woowee, was so good. Lately I've stopped watching what I'm eating and just really hitting the weights. I'll probably end up hella big - belly-wise and arms-wise. But food is so good!
2.17.03 Happy birthday to Jaxors
Vince's xanga site reminded me of one of the best movies in the world - Swingers. "You've got these claws man, and teeth on you... big f*ing teeth on ya... and she's like this little bunny... cowering, shivering... and you're thinking how can i kill this bunny? How can i kill this bunny with these, you can't figure out how to kill this bunny. You're like a big bear man." If you liked Swingers, I'd also recommend another one of Favreau's movies: Made. The soundtrack alone is sickness. He teams up with Vince Vaugn again, and he's a boxer/bodyguard that ends up doing a job for the mob. Vaugn is his annoying sidekick and somehow gets to do the job with him. Check it out. I bought the Swingers/Made double dvd pack =).

Daredevil was siiiiiick. Spoilers ahead - stop reading if you don't want the movie spoiled. But duuuude, Jennifer Garner is wicked hot. I liked everything about that movie, I was even like, "Dude, the kingpin can't die" and he didn't. Perfect. And that line "I step out from the darkness and all i see is darkness" or something like that... awesome. And wasn't Colin Farrell a perfect Bullseye? Arrogant and chaotically violent. I loved the inner conflicts and conceptual conflicts - like how he seeks vengeance and justice thru a devil costume, but confesses his acts to a priest. I also loved how Elektra said "Nothing good ever happens and when it does, i get a little scared." and within a short while, her father gets murdered, she almost kills the man she loves and dies herself... "Stay with me." That line was used 3 different times in 3 different contexts. Just plain great. Loved it loved it.
2.14.03
Sigh. It's 2:14 in the morning and can't sleep. It just became Valentine's and it's raining. Not that I feel sorry for myself. Just lonely i guess.
I hope everyone's having a great day and an even better weekend. I know most of my time will be spent studying or playing warcraft. Maybe I'll catch Daredevil. I wonder if it's pathetic to go alone on Valentine's day to watch a movie. i know I secretly laugh to myself when i see someone going to a movie alone, but then i feel guilty for laughing about a nanosecond later. But hey, i really want to see it. If the Matrix 2 came out tomorrow, there's not a shred of dignity in all of my cells to keep me from watching that alone.
But anyway, can't remember a Valentine's where I actually had a Valentine. nor can i remember a new year's where i got to kiss my girlfriend at Midnight. Seems I end up being single on the more romantic occasions. But again, I'm not feeling sorry for myself. Just in the spirit of the rain and late-night tossing and turning, just had to spit out some depressing thoughts.
