The mission of the Webster County School District is the education of its youth to the extent that which will be prepared to pursue his/her life time goals, satisfy his/her personal, physical, and social needs, and assume responsible and productive citizenship in a democratic society. In providing a school program to meet these needs, the values, aspirations, and demands of the community will be reflected in the curriculum and the methods of instruction. The program of instruction will be designed and administration as to meet the diverse needs of individual students.
To achieve the purposes for which the schools exist, the Webster County School District has established the following goals.
1. To offer adequate instruction for all students in the basic skills by:
a. Providing sufficient amounts of
time for adequate instruction in the basic skills and pupil time on task
to achieve mastery of the basic skills,
b. Providing a written program of
instructional objectives, processes to be used in achieving these objectives,
the necessary materials and supplies for offering instruction, and an evaluation
system to determine when these objectives have been accomplished,
c. Determining the correct curriculum
for each pupil in each grade level and subject,
d. Evaluating pupil mastery of specified
instruction objectives, and
e. Basing decisions regarding grading,
promotion, retention and graduation upon pupil performances on these educational
objectives.
2. To provide a program which enhances cultural, physical, social, and moral development of pupils by:
a. Providing instruction in pure and
applied science and technology,
b. Providing a structured program
of instruction in health and physical education,
c. Providing instruction and/or experiences
in the real of fine arts,
d. Providing instruction in the social
sciences,
e. Providing instruction and practical
experience in vocational selection and preparation, and
f. Staffing the instructional program
with teachers who, as role models, embody the values of the community,
and strive to impart these values by precept and example.
3. To provide a school climate that is conducive to learning by:
a. Providing adequate physical facilities,
b. Providing for the safety and well-being
of each pupil while in the custody of the school, and
c. Maintaining behavior standards
that promote rather than disrupt the learning atmosphere in the schools.
Since the primary mission of the school district
is to ensure each child the opportunity for a quality, formal education,
every aspect of the school program must be supportive of that goal.
Program staff will be continuously evaluated to assure single-minded adherence
to this purpose.
