Jesus the Bread of Life (John 6:25-59)
"I am telling you the truth: you are looking for me because you ate the bread and had all you wanted, not because you understood my miracles.
After witnessing the powerful manifestation of God in the multiplication of bread, the people indeed were privileged to have seen with their own eyes, one of the highlights of God's miracles and power, in Jesus Christ. This miracle was the sign of, what was soon to come. From the One Body of Christ, God was, is and will until the end of time, for the sake of our purification and holiness, through Jesus Christ, brings about the continuous flows of His human body. The body, that He offered up on the cross, together, with His Divinity or Holy Spirit to feed, not merely few thousands, but the whole world who would come to Him, with a sorrowful and contrite heart.
Jesus performed the miracles, in order to unfold the power and authority, that God would soon give to Him, in order to be their God and Savior. The multiplication had various significance and Divine truth.
Firstly, the miracle was a reality of which Jesus truly, with, in and through God's power commanded the ordinary breads and fishes, to multiply by themselves, which transcended human understanding and above natural law.
Secondly, the people had all they wanted and there overflowed twelve basketfuls. This twelve basketfuls of bread, would later on be entrusted to the twelve Apostles, representing the twelve tribes of Israel. This twelve tribes of Israel, would soon contain people of all races and backgrounds. God, through the power given to Jesus Christ would soon be able to feed the whole world, with His own Body. This power and authority would later on be entrusted to all His Apostles, who are still alive in this world.
Thirdly, this miracle is a sign of God's greatest love, as Father and Divine Providence, who cares not only for our spiritual, but our physical needs. God knew that the people who came, come and those on their way to follow and listened to Jesus were and are mere human beings, who need material food.
God never willed to starve the world. God never willed to bring sickness, suffering and death to the people in this world. God never willed that His creatures, be separated from Him. God never willed that disasters, calamities and disorders in the world, be part of the pattern of natures. These were in fact the outcome and consequence of sin that existed in this world of which would not have been natural, if sin is completely eradicated.
These were in fact the consequence of our personal sins, sins of our human natures, sins of the world and the revelations of the presence of the Devil, together with the forces of darkness. They tried to bring hell and darkness to earth. God through Jesus Christ, had conquered and overcame the Devil, who once, almost completely stole the world and everything contained in this world, for their own evil and selfish purposes. Through this victory, the world belonged to Jesus Christ, but our sinful wills and desires had not been fully severed. We still harbored the sinful desires and wills to sins. With these natures still alive and living in each one of us, the completion, of Christ purpose for the purification of the world would continued, until the time when what are supposed to be saved were saved, whereas the rest, shall be discarded, like trash into hell with the Devil.
Therefore, Jesus would have to continue, with His provision, of His Body and Life, in order to counteract the work of the Devil to destroy God's Children, through sowing evil seeds of weeds into the flesh of Man. With the worthy consumption of Jesus' Body, which is God, through Jesus coming to dwell and strengthened our human lives, transforming them to be like Jesus, in His human nature. Jesus' human nature completely yielded to God's Spirit, which complete His purification on earth. It does not mean that Jesus had sin in His life, but as a representative of Man, He took the sins upon Himself. He suffered like one of us. He need not suffer, get sick or experience human suffering, because He was perfect, but God allowed Him to carry our crosses and experienced our suffering, which were meant for us, not Jesus.
Jesus transformed, what human beings could grasp and understand, that indeed food was necessity in life, together with water, as sign of the Holy Spirit. By the physical consumption of the bread, which Jesus was, is and will continues to transformed into His own Body and life, He is going to dwell and empowered Man, with His Spirit, so to complete their purification, in this earthly life and later on in purgatory, if that had not been completed in this world. Therefore, purification does not only start, after we depart from this earthly lives, but start at the moments of our conception, arrival, growth in this world and after this earthly life in purgatory. As Souls arrive, into the wombs of mothers, the souls received the human bodies, from the merger of two cells, which come from the female and male. At that moment of conception, sin that came about through none of the fetus actions, but due to the sinful natures of the couples, need to be cleansed and purified, through the prayers of their parents and Church as a whole. Church here means, saints in heaven, earth and in purgatory, in unity with Jesus Christ, through His Spirit. As the infants arrived into this world, Original sin, continued to manifest its dark sides. The child, would continued to experience pain and suffering. Loneliness and stress. Fear and anxiety, etc. All these unfold the reality of sin and the Devil, that existed in the world and the human sinful flesh. As children grew older their conscience would be enriched and grew. After acquiring knowledge from their parents, world and through their natural bond with God, their consciences began to serve their purposes, bringing about their rise or fall, in their journeys of life. With God and for God, they would rise, whereas with the world, sinful flesh and the Devil, would bring about their imminent fall. As Children grew into adults, the tendency to fall into sin, grew greater. In general adults conscience, travels through the various difficulties and stress in lives. Gaining great wisdom, knowledge and understanding. Had ability to make wise and prudent judgement. Had ability to activate and control the minds, hearts and wills. Therefore with these natural gifts and assets, which are providence of God, we are capable of setting our priority right. But if our consciences, malfunctioned to self-destruction of our lives, we committed sins. If they function to serve God's purpose, which was in fact the silence desire of the depth of our hearts, that is our souls, brings about purification and sharing of God's life, in this world. Accepting and welcoming sufferings, in different orders, such as mere state of suffering, which usually affect and hurt our hearts and minds. And the reality of physical suffering, of sickness, poverty, imprisonment due to physical immobility, etc. We would have conquered the fear of suffering, which brings about the purification of our hearts, minds and souls. These victories came about, not so much by our own ability and power, but through, with and in unity with God. By forsaking the desire and will to satisfy the sinful flesh, the Devil's strongholds were indeed demolished. Adults later age and gain further wisdom, but their physical strength decreases, so would their physical services to others. They generally had accumulate plenty of wisdom, but the rebellious younger generations, ought not to blindly cast aside their treasures. Liken to the quality of wine, improve with time. Service to God and His people starts from the moment when we can exercise our conscience and freewill, till the time, before our departure from this world. Life in this world is for the purpose of accumulating heavenly wealth and treasures. We are to prepare a dwelling place for ourselves in heaven. But if we had, misused the opportunities God had given to us, instead to solely accumulate earthly treasures, what a self-curse that would be when we depart from this world, to find no place to rest. Our whole lives in this world, is a continuous purification, of which we are all personally responsible for it. Most souls would have to enter into their final cleansing in purgatory, only then fit to enter God's Glory. All shall await, the Second Coming of Jesus, for our human bodies, once had decayed, to come together, in a powerful and mysterious manners. Even if the bodies and bones had been complete turned to dust, gases and water, but they would come together, making us just like our human appearances, but glorified, strong and youthful. All of us shall be in the height of perfection and beauty, like the moons, in their brightest state.
What a blessing! what a privilege! That we had been consuming His Body and Life, every time we received the Holy Eucharist. 'Praise and thank you Lord!'.
How much He loves us! How much suffering He had to endured for all of us, when He dwelled in human bodies, because the sinful natures in us are building 'barricade' along the path that God is going to transformed, hindering the works of purification and transformation of which Jesus enters into our lives for. Yes! The height and summit of suffering He had overcame, our sinful, rebellious desires still condemned Jesus to suffer, in a mysterious ways. That He had long foresaw, and took what were supposed to be our yolk, upon His holy shoulder and carry them with us. He knew fully well that we are incapable of shouldering them all by ourselves. That was, is and will be God's overwhelming love and passion for His fallen and crippled Children. Crippled by sins and the Devil and saved by God, through Jesus Christ.
Do not work for food that spoils; instead, work for the food that lasts for eternal life.
Jesus was and is trying to remind the people to put priority on the spiritual work of God. We all struggle to earn our daily bread, for ourselves, our families and loved ones.
In our struggle, we need to set our priority right. From which angles are we focusing our lives. From the angle of our sinful human nature or from that of our pure human nature in union with God.
Most of us had focused our lives based on the wisdom, values and standards, set by the people in this world.
In our tainted and ill-informed consciences and judgements, of which are mixtures of different masters, in our lives. We might had taken God as Master of only certain areas or sections of our lives. We might have given the world, master over another few sections of our lives. Unknowingly or knowingly, through the Devil enslavement of which we are incapable of setting ourselves free, we might had given a portion of our lives to the Devil, to manage. One of this is superstition, which is rampant in the lives, of almost all human being. God came to our lives, not by mere coincidence, but the divine truth is that long before we ever had knowledge about God and His presence, God with a clear view of our whole lives and being, had been calling us to come out, from our dark hideouts. To respond to His call and to have courage to come out needed our free participation of freewill, then the rest shall be up to God. Once plucked with this courage and spiritual strength to come out and face the truth, we needed to sacrifice our human sinful nature and flesh, in order that God, would be truly real in our lives. Jesus promised that we would be able to find Him, through self-denial and carrying of our own crosses. Self-denial is putting aside satisfying our sinful nature, especially those that would lead to Capital sins. These sins affect and harm our pure human nature. The whole of our bodies are supposed to be pure and holy, like Christ, but the Devil enjoy, sowing those evil seeds in the field that belongs to God. Our bodies and everything in them are God's property, so He had every right over them. But because God respected our freewill and choice, we need to firmly put forward our stands. That is for God or the Devil and other forces of darkness. Fasting and prayers are one of the most powerful weapons against the Devil. If we exercise this detachment and self-denial, the Devil had to loosen their holds on us. The Devil is putting Jesus to the challenge. He would say to Jesus, 'Your Children will fall!', but Jesus who had the final says in every situation and condition, would say, "My Children will not fall!". So the challenge, between God and the Devil took place of which, we were the actors. God, through our demand had given us freewill, which was in fact a very great obstacles to our natural union with our Creator. Most of us had blindly stumbled, because of our abuse and indifferent towards our freewill. Either we were not positively exercising them, or we are careless about the spiritual warfare, that had been ragging hot, ever since mankind, accepted them into paradise. By their presence the once paradise, was used as a hunting ground by the Devil, to capture human beings together with their souls and spirits, that had strayed from the safe ground and the watchful eyes of the Shepherd.
Everyone of us who are disciples of Jesus, must seek for an intimate union with Him, so that we can truly see and acknowledge Him as our personal Lord and Savior. After His enthronement in our lives, we, through His Spirit, present in our hearts and lives, naturally would be able to accept and love other Children of God as our true, spiritual brothers and sisters, a bond that is closer than what we ever witness on earth. That purified bond, which comes about through Jesus' love for His 'Bride', that is all of us who were called, chosen and set apart by God.
We need to ask questions and sincerely, with love and devotion in our hearts seek to be transformed by the Truth, that were revealed, especially through the sacramental. Which were material of the earth, to manifest the Divine values, that goes along with our actions, words, gestures, matters and whatever that are derived from the earth.
God is the eternal and divine providence. We need to be acknowledged and truly accept the truth, that all sources of goodness, holiness, true joy, peace, love and unity, etc, comes from God.
We need to acknowledge and be informed that God is the true, real and supreme Father. From this source of fatherhood and family life, sprouted and originate the rest of human fatherhood and family lives. In fact God tried to penetrate parents, so that they would co-operate with Him, as providence of the physical and spiritual need of their children. Children born of parents, are truly God's Children and creations. God allows parents to participate to bring about the formation of the physical fetus, to house the souls and spirits, which God Himself is going to infuse, into them.
God is the only Teacher, of which all those who impart knowledge are supposed to receive that teachings from God, may they be for our physical or spiritual growth, of minds, bodies and souls.
God is the only Leader, from which all leadership, need to imitate and receive the strength, from God to lead, God's people under our cares and guidance. If earthly leaders and kings, would imitate Christ's virtues and ways, the whole world would be heaven on earth. The leaders and those in power, would be able to serve those under them, rather than the opposite. The struggles, in leadership, are not so much on over-powering or dominate others, rather to love and to serve others. Heaven is not a place or state, that we are capable of indulging ourselves in satisfying our sinful natures of gluttony, which is greed for food, making the stomach the master of a portion of our lives. It is not a place whereby wealth, money and material riches are given priority. It is not a place whereby outward beauty and appearance meant so much to us. Not a place whereby selfish pride is ever emphasize, etc. It is a place whereby love, peace and joy, became the food that all shall hunger and thirst for. To share in God's Life, is not to dominate and overpowered others, but to be their servants, in sincerity and purity of our hearts. Heaven is still a state, while we are still clothed with our human flesh, but it would be a real place, when detached from the mortal, sinful bodies. Vision of Jesus, heaven and God's glory, can only be seen, through our spiritual eyes, while we are still on earth, clothed in our human sinful selves. The degree of alertness or sharpness of our spiritual senses, depend solely on the grace, that is the love and mercy of God. Once the clouds that covered us are removed, through Jesus forgiveness and so reconciled us with God, through Jesus, our supreme gift of spiritual senses would be activated. Once function and working, we experience the reality and presence of God and could participate in His mission, with a clear conviction and understanding.
Opportunities for us to accumulate earthly or heavenly treasures are opened before our very eyes. Those who were spiritual blind, could not see heavenly treasure that lies, before their very sight. Instead, they put their whole lives and beings to accumulate earthly treasure that 'spoil', which means that they do not last for eternity, but merely good, for these earthly lives only. The world thought and truly thinks that they were wise, if they could accumulate as much earthly riches as possible, so that their earthly children and descendents could benefit from their toils and struggles, but to God, this is indeed foolishness. Why foolishness, when we though that this is only our responsibility? Those who had their spiritual sight alert and sharp, would truly understand and laugh at these foolishness. We are instruments of God to care and love the children that God entrusted to us. This words 'entrusted', makes all the different. We do not own our children, but God owns them all. We need to impart the best of spiritual knowledge, so that through this, their minds and hearts would be able to set their priority right, in their lives. God is the Divine Providence of the Spiritual and the physical. God is the creator of the seen and the unseen. All that He created would abide and bow down to their creator's rules and laws. God was, is, will always be, the richest man in the whole of human race and so was and is, the richest man, in the spiritual world. For He is the source and origin of all that existed, together with their rules, laws, orders and systems, of the whole universe and the Kingdom of Heaven.
If we have God in our lives, what a privilege and indeed the most blessed. Most of us, try to gain praise and approval from the one whom we held highly to, or the one whom we treasured and love the most. So our struggles would be to give them the best of our abilities and strength, so to please them.
As Children of God, we need to change our whole attitudes, from the hearts, minds and the roles we are to play.
We, who received Jesus as our Lord and Savior, especially through the Holy Eucharist need to set our hearts, wills and desires, from Jesus point of view.
The gifts that God gives or entrusted to us, must not be an obstacles for us to love Him with our whole hearts, minds and souls.
If the gifts that God had given us, may they be our spouse, children, relatives and friends, or material things, comfort and pleasures in lives, had become like gods, in our lives, then we need to ask ourselves these questions, 'Who is greater? The gifts or Gift-giver?' In the bosom of God stores all the good things in life and He is a generous God, who would not hold back any of His goodness from us except of His 'fear' of losing us. If everything we ask, is given to us, without weighing the price of which we are later to pay, which include losing our souls, God is not love.
For God is love and He would painfully hold back goodness, so that we can receive and truly treasure them later on, for the benefit of the souls.
Once God entrusted Adam and Eve, with the treasure of eternal life in union with Him, but they failed God. Jesus came and knocked on our doors, asking us to invite Him to dwell inside our lives. Since the fall of Adam and Eve, Mankind had been fed with inferior food, of which the souls were greatly affected. The physical food that we took, enters into the stomach, which activates, the digestive glands to excrete digestive juices, until it reached the stage whereby it could be absorbed into the cells and organs for various physical function. If we took nutritious food, our body would be healthy. But if we are sick, the food taken in, could not be properly absorbed. The thin, soluble, white wafer breads, that the priest offered up to God, initially were sacramental. Meaning, that they derive from the earth and work of human hands. The unconsecrated breads are being offered up, together with the prayers of the church, in the process of purification, on earth and in purgatory. In the receiving end, were our Blessed Virgin Mary, in fullness of union with her son, together with the saints and angels, took the gift through the hands of the consecrated priest, to God the Father, who took it back to His Son, whom salvation and redemption depended on Him. Jesus passed down His Body and Life, through the hands of the priest, in order to feed His people. Jesus is the True Shepherd, of which the priests were entrusted with His role on earth. The pastures and spring of living water, the priest, do not have, but Jesus Himself fed them, through the priest.. This Bread and wine, transformed by the Power of the Holy Spirit, would become food for the souls. Immersed in this Body and Life of Jesus, is the unity of His human and Divine nature. Therefore consuming them, became a Sacrament, whereby the Holy Spirit, shall enter into our lives, through the opening of our hearts, like 'mouth' to the human body. If we are spiritual sick, with sin and our lives engulfed in darkness, the bread of Life could not properly nourish the souls and fully served its purpose. We need to be in communion with God and His people. For example; in the New Year reunion dinner, the whole family was happily seated and takes their food. There was a member of the family who had dishonored the family name, was also seated there to share the meal. What would the whole scenario be like? How would the hosts, who were their parents felt? What about his siblings and their offspring? God is the Host of the feast of His Son's Wedding. When we sinned against God, we sinned against our brothers and sisters on earth, purgatory and in heaven, too. God gives us all the ability to return to Him, when our 'money', we receive from the share as God's Children, was exhausted. When we run away from home, with our purse full, we thought nothing about poverty and hunger. This is our spiritual blindness. We are all God's Children, set free, through the Blood of Christ. We are all blessed, but are we holding these treasures and privileges, with responsibility, or are we indifferent, just like the Jews, during the time, when Jesus was captured and crucified?
Being Children of God, comes with the cost of keeping this status. We are no more children of slave and sin, but Children of God and freedom, from the Devil and sin.
We need to struggle with the Devil, inside of us and in the world. They are disguised as the 'forbidden fruits', yet these are the most desirous among all the other fruits.
The 'forbidden fruits' are the foods that poison our bodies, souls and spirits. The food that last for eternal lives are to reverse what Adam and Eve had done, and to change 'gear' to travel the way of God. To obey with the Spirit of Christ in our lives. With the overpowering and strength of Jesus' Spirit, who had triumphed over His human spirit and will, would also do His work and duty in all of us who open up our hearts to Him. Through our submission of our will, to Him, He too would transform us to be like human Jesus. Human Jesus had gain perfection in the sight of God, so too we would be transformed to the very nature of Jesus Christ and receive eternal life, in union with God and later on a glorified body, after the Second Coming of Jesus or the end of time.
This is the food which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has put His mark of approval on Him."
When Jesus said these words, He was pointing to Himself. Jesus was, is and will always offered Himself as real food for the hungry people of God, until the complete purification of God's people. From this consumption of Jesus, in a mysterious ways, Jesus, together with God, in His thrice Holy Godhead, would dwell, nourish, strengthen and manifest 'their' presence and power, in His people on earth.
To human beings, consuming another human being, is just too brutal and unacceptable. The people who had witness His miracles turn away from Him, after listening to, what they thought as 'insane' talk. His disciples themselves were holding back their fear, for Jesus is the only one who has the Words of eternal life. For His close disciples were convinced that He is the Messiah, the hope of the people of Israel, yet in their hearts, they put His words into question, without expressing them. Jesus turned to them, quite upset, but Jesus was brave to take the words of the disciples. Jesus knew that man, could not grasp the mysteries of God, so Jesus did not ask further. For He was not in despair, for He knew that when the Holy Spirit came to them, they would truly understand and accept the fact.
We need to consume Jesus' physical human body, so that we will be part of God's mysteries, of redemption and so salvation, through Jesus Christ.
Just like the Israelites ate the Paschal Lambs, so that they be part of the mysteries that was to come, so too we ate of the Paschal Lamb, Jesus Christ, in order to prepare us for our lives in the fullness of God's glory.
"What God wants you to do is to believe in the one He sent."
Jesus was the Incarnation of God into time and space. Imagine a scenario, of an island filled with criminals and murderers. Society and laws punished them by complete separation, until they served their sentences and deemed fit. What would happen if the government decided to send someone who is good, kind and gentle to this island?
Jesus was sent to a sinful world, where evil and sins were rampant and accepted as norm of life. Good and holy people were persecuted and regarded as unfit to live. All of them were wearing black funeral attires to mourn their own spiritual death and so are the rest. Jesus came and wore a white wedding attire, to the contrast of the people in this world. He was considered an alien and unfit to live in this world, but He was the one God sent to change those who struggle to rid themselves of the black funeral attires. Once they decided to change into the white attires, the world jeered at them. Some still struggle on, while most failed and returned to the state they were before. God is not condemning us to dwell in darkness, sin and fit only in the den of hell and the devil, but God is preparing all of us to inherit heaven with His Son. What God destined and reserved for His Son, is meant for all His beloved Children even while in this world. The Holy Spirit is the Power of Jesus Christ, to establish His stronghold and reign in this physical world, through the opening of our hearts. Inside the 'little', seemed insignificant organs rest a powerful door and dwelling place for God or other spirits, which we welcome into our lives or 'house'.
What God wants is for us only to believe and accept Jesus into our lives, not simply, a dim 'candle', producing dim and cool light, but God wants to put the 'Sun' into our lives, to warm up the 'land and environment' in our hearts. The 'Sun' is God, through Jesus Christ', wants to dwell in our humanity, in the hearts, souls and minds, or bodies, souls and human spirits. God, through Jesus Christ wants to transform, the sinful 'blood' and 'bodies' of ours into that of Christ Jesus. Jesus' Body of which we received during Holy Communion, is the whole body, soul and Divinity, which includes His human and Divine natures. By eating His body and drinking His blood, our sinful flesh and blood, that we inherit from our links with our sinful parents, Adam and Eve, are drained out, slowly and continuously, opens to the transformation, by Christ's presence, in our lives. We therefore participate in the New Lives, of the Second Adam. Only through these mysteries, our bodies, souls and spirits, shall be like those of Christ Jesus, while He was still in this world. He had reached the state of complete obedience and purity, after He triumphed in the Garden of Gethsamane. That was the crucial moment in His life of which He had to make the final and critical decision for the salvation of the whole human race, or to refused to participate. After He triumphant over His human nature, He looked with eagerness for the 'hour of glory', of which He knew fully, He came for this. He smoothly moved on and He yielded to God, to fulfill His and God's will, in the 'hands' and authority of His own Jewish people. The Jewish people were the one who would slaughter Jesus, just the way they had slaughtered the animals for the Passover sacrifice, in order to bring to fulfillment, the words of the scriptures.
After His death, the pathway, into the Kingdom of heaven, which once was a highway, when God first created Adam and Eve. They fell into sin and that highway was deserted and overgrown with thorn bushes and became huge jungles. With the death of Jesus, this jungle was opened up in a mysterious ways, through the pain and agony of Jesus. This pathway was spread with 'carpet of Jesus' blood'. This journey towards heaven, is a struggle in order to make worthy the death of Jesus Christ. No one would dare to travel in this carpet, without the authority of the Son. This road, is narrow and hard to travel. We need to allow God to make us 'little', so that we would fit into this narrow road.
Being a true disciple of Jesus, is not all bed of roses. Jesus showed us the price to pay in order to be Son of God, so heir to God's possession. He had never stumbled on God's plan, by compromising with the world, but He walked the straight path, which brought about His own death. Yet this death was the mean, by which all man who come to Him shall be saved.
"I am telling you the truth," Jesus said, "What Moses gave you was not the bread from heaven; it is my Father who gives you the real bread from heaven.
Moses prayed for the Israelites who were hungry, in a barren land and God fed them with the continuous flow of manna, which were physical foods, for the bodies. They were told to accumulate them before the sun rose, early at dawn.
Consumption of this food, would had little significant, if the Israelites could not appreciate them. It would had become food for the bodies and benefited the souls, if the people were grateful and appreciate God as the Divine Providence of the physical and spiritual.
Jesus is not only claiming God was His Father, but He was trying to tell the people that what would soon come to pass, would supersede all other manifestations of God's love. God would soon reveal His depth of love, by offering up His only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, as food for God's beloved Children.
The people might had overemphasize on the manna, but not able to see Jesus as Bread of Life, for the hungry and thirsty souls.
What is 'real', ought to have eternal and divine value, rather than of transient value only. Just like earthly material food, is to fill up the stomach, for physical growth, but the spiritual food that comes from heaven, would feed our souls, which are eternal spirits, that transcend the earthly life. Just like a plant bearing seeds. What's the use if the seeds were indeed rotten and infected with worms, when they dropped down to the earth? What a blessing it would be if the seeds were of superior quality, and truly ripened, when they were dropped down? These precious, high quality seeds, would sprout into new plants. How please God would be to see that we were like those good seeds that dropped to the ground. Our lives in this would, would be a great blessing, if they would bring about eternal lives with God. Death, is just like a seed dropping down. The quality of the seeds, depended on our lives, living in union with God or with other evil spirits, etc. In union with God the seeds, would had been fully nourished and lives would have lived to the fullness. Only to continue these precious lives, living in the fullness of communion with God. Separated from God, these seeds would be infested with worms and rotten, inside out. When they dropped down, that would be the final part of their lives. Jesus, in His human nature and His mother Mary, had both lived their lives to the fullness. Since they are the two role models and victorious human beings, we too, just like Mary, who had Christ living in our hearts, shall be able to accomplish God's mission, that is the salvation of the souls and bodies too. Yet, Salvation histories, did reveal the truth; human beings were, incapable of being totally like Mary and Jesus. Therefore we await, glorification of our physical bodies, at the Second Coming of Jesus. so that what were once corruptible, would be transformed into the opposite, which is the likeness of Jesus' glorified bodies.
For the bread that God gives is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world."
God Himself is the source of life. Adam and Eve had chosen death and severed their covenant and bond with God who created them. God, adorned the earth with all the good things, together with the beautiful bright sky, with the brightness of the sun at daytime and at night diamond sparkles, as lamps for the dark night. The gentle and loving God, commanded the creation and forming of the O-Zone protective layer, in order to shield His delicate creatures from the high and harmful heat of the sun. God loved them with His whole hearts, souls and minds as depicted by Christ, the Word of God.
Before the dawning of the day, darkness engulfed the whole human race. All were blind, including the Leaders of the Chosen people of God, who were supposed to be the reflectors, transmitters and Light to the Jewish people.
For this reason, God came down and took a human flesh as His dwelling place on earth. Jesus was the person that God, had chosen to 'house' God, and be His Temple.
Jesus gave His own body, soul and human spirit, that lived in cohesion with God entirely to each one of us, so that in our hearts, God shall be able to station there. The Pope is the head of the Roman Catholic Church. Almost every country in the world had station, or center, whereby the words of the Pope could be channel into.
Like a stream, flowing pass our house, God decided to dig a pond inside the house, so that the stream of water, that flows pass our houses, would be of use to members of our households. So too, God would make our hearts, the channel, whereby God's Spirit, shall be able to flow into our lives and brings about a new life.
This spring of water flows from the throne of God, in order to feed our souls, spirits and bodies too. This is real food from heaven, that our souls desire, ever since they arrived into this world.
Through Jesus submission and obedience to God's will, God had given authority and power to His Son, to be our Lord and Savior. From God through Jesus, is the source of life. Once in bondage and slavery, but then and now in freedom.
"I am the bread of Life," Jesus told them. "He who comes to me will never be hungry; He who believes in me will never be thirsty.
Jesus came not so much to make us materially rich, but rather to teach us the value of seeking spiritual wealth and food. True fasting and detachment from the world, self denial and at the service of the 'little' ones. Living our lives, true to the teaching of the beatitudes, which are food and lives for our souls. These hunger and thirst does not seek to be pacified with any earthly inferior food, but rather, eating Jesus and let Him be the oil and light to our lamps.
The physical health and strength of our bodies, depended so much on the quality of food that we consumed. Our whole bodies in the beginning of time were told by God to be fed, with plants, fruits and its seeds, not flesh of animals or fishes, etc. But when mankind fall into sins, they consumed whatever were edible, whether that which God did not told them to eat, or vice versa. The voice and words of God became too soft and dime, that they could not 'hear', anymore. God once sent great flood, of which Noah, his household and all the living things, that were in the huge boat was saved. Then after the great flood, subsided and all that were in the boats were the only things that survived. God made another new covenant, with Noah and his household, that they shall be the masters of the animals and given the authority and right to consume them too, but must be cooked, not eaten fresh with blood.
Did God succumbed to the will and desire of man, that He had to change the first and replace with the second, concerning food to be eaten?
Man, ever since the fall, had put a painful demand on God, which led them further to the realm of heaven and closer to hell.
God knew that if mankind insisted to live a life, living apart from God, they would soon lose, even the 'little' light they might still have. We cannot change God, for heaven is not a place or state created and will by man, but God had the fullness of right and authority over His own Kingdom. He cannot let any spot or stain of sins, to enter and share the Kingdom of God in heaven. These had to be totally removed at all cost and indeed were painful. This pain of transformation, are not only truly experience by the human physical senses only. But it sipped and pricked the depth of our very souls and spirits. Since the fall of man, God painfully allowed certain relaxation of His command. But with full knowledge, that they could indulge themselves in sin, if they hunger and thirst for it, but in the final stage of salvation, they had to completely removed the dirty and smelly clothing that they had been wearing all those while, they were still in this world. Moses allowed remarriage, after the spouses passed away, did not mean that God, through the mouth of Moses had change, in order to yield to the demand of the sinful world. But God knew that at the final stage, Jesus would come and bend them back to the straight path and ways of life. Jesus cannot compromised with any sin, for He had came to bring true Light to the world and its people. He came to duel with sin and not to judge the people whom He came to save. God, through Jesus finally came about two thousands years ago, to put right what was wrong and sinful. Sin is living a life detaching ourselves from God. Sin does not care for the heart of God. Sin does not care for the commandments of God. Sin does not care for all the goodness that God had created. Sin is human outright evil against God. Sin is the work and will of the Devil, of which human being freely or indifferently allow them to be the channel, not only to sabotage God's will and plan, but all out to take revenge against God, in His beloved Children. The devil knew that God's treasure lies in the hearts of human beings. They especially targeted the hearts, so to enter and destroy God's 'house' and dwelling place. They would try, to sit on the throne of our lives if possible, yet they do not have the final say. If suddenly, God, through His own right as owner of the 'house', used His master key to unlocked our tightly closed hearts, the Devils had to abandon, their thrones or stay in our lives.
When God is seated, the Devil can be mischievous, not when God stood up, they would be no way seen. They had to drop, whatever that they held in bondage and slavery. God would not allow the Devil the sole right and final say in the lives of His Children. He can take back our freewill, if we had manipulated and abused them, which would destroy the souls, which are God's possession.
Jesus came into this world as food and necessities to our souls, and even our bodies, together with its human life or spirit. When we consume Jesus as the nourishment for the souls, spirits and bodies, He dwells in us and will continue to provide us with living bread from heaven. Doing whatever pleases the Lord, are food and nourishment for our lives. Jesus fasted forty days and nights, which to ordinary human being is suicidal, but not to human Jesus, who was fed with heavenly food, that His Human nature desire, in hunger and thirst from God. Jesus indeed, in His human hunger and thirst was fed and quench with the living water or Holy Spirit, which was truly food for His human body. God in a mysterious way, who is the God and Lord of all natures and the laws that He Himself made for the good of His creation, had every right to modify them, in order to manifest His Love and Power.
Now, I told you that you have seen Me but will not believe.
Everyone whom My Father gives me will come to me. I will never turn away anyone who comes to me, because I have come down from heaven to do not my own will but the will of Him who sent me.
And it is the will of Him who sent me that I should not lose any of all those He has given me, but That I should raise them all to Life on the last day.
For what My Father wants is that all who sees the Son and believe in Him should have eternal life.
And I will raise them to life on the last day."
Stop grumbling among yourselves. No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent me draws him to Me; and I will raise Him to life on the last day.
The prophets wrote, 'Everyone will be taught by God.'
Anyone who hears the Father and learns from Him comes to Me. This does not mean that anyone has seen the Father; he who is from God is the only one who has seen the Father.
I am telling you the truth; he who believes has eternal life. I am the bread of life. Your ancestors ate manna in the desert, but they died.
But the bread that comes down from heaven is of such a kind that whoever eats it will not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats this bread, he will live forever. The bread that I will give him is My Flesh, which I give so that the world may live."
Jesus said to them, "I am telling you the truth: if you do not eat the Flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you will not have life in yourselves.
Whoever eats My Flesh and drinks My Blood has eternal life, and I will raise him to life on the last day.
For my Flesh is the real food; My blood is the real drink.
Whoever eats my Flesh and drinks my Blood lives in Me, and I live in him.
The living Father sent me, and because of Him I live also. In the same way whoever eats me will live because of Me.
This, then, is the bread that came down from heaven; it is not like the bread that your ancestors ate, but then later died. The one who eats this bread will live forever."
In the Gospel of St. John, Jesus repeatedly, endorsed His stand. The bread that came from the earth, shall be used as sacramental, so that through this basic need, the mysteries of the Holy Eucharist can be fully revealed. Jesus is food and life for our souls, bodies and spirits. We need to be mysteriously transformed, through the active presence of Jesus in our lives. Through, with and in the power of His Spirit or the Holy Spirit, God, through the 'Body of Christ', that we receive at the sacrifice of the Mass, would transform us into the image and likeness of Jesus Christ, God's only Begotten Son. Only through this channel, we would be made worthy of the promises of Christ. God, promised eternal life in union with Him, through Jesus Christ, in the power of the Holy Spirit.
The whole Church on earth, would be nourished, through the real presence of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist. The flesh that God gave to us, came with great love and sacrifice. Jesus gave His whole heart to mankind, to consume and to follow Him to serve one another, in a selfless spirit and manner. Christ Jesus insisted on washing the, to be Apostles feet, and instructed all of them to follow His examples. This was in fact the most humiliating act which need to come with great humility and courage to have the ability to dignify them. No human being is willing to bow down to others, especially true to those whom we considered as lower in status then us. Jesus served His followers, who were in fact of lower ranking then Him. "Who is greater? The one who serve or the one who was sat at the table? The one who sat, of course!" Yet Jesus whom they considered as Master, served them. "Those who are least in the Kingdom of heaven, is the greatest". Jesus considered Himself, the 'least'. Yes! Truly, He was, is and for eternity, the greatest.
Only when we come to the 'Table of the Lord', and offered up our sacrifice of sins, and lives with the same disposition of Jesus' Heart, we are not worthy to receive any blessing from God. God loves His Children who come with a humble and contrite hearts. God will bless them and transformed them, like He transformed ordinary bread into His Body and filled it with His Spirit. Let God do the same with us too.
Praise the Lord. Amen.
