A Detachment from the Physical

Whatever is physical and material are elements or matters that can be destroyed, decayed, mortal and sure to pass away anytime destined or allowed by God.

Spirit created and moves the physical into activation and life.

It was the spirit within a person, that gives our brain a mind, our hearts the ability to love, show mercy and compassion.

It gives us the ability and power to search and reach out to God and to one another.

It was God's Spirit, in the air or the atmosphere that gives it the ability to produce the correct amount of atmospheric gas for survival and life in this once naked and lifeless planet, earth.

It was the God's Spirit, in natures that sustain the solar systems to move in co-ordination and its orbit without crushing against one another.

It was the Spirit that allows the drainage system of the earth to flow, quench the thirst of the earth and its inhabitants, purification of the land and water.

Our body had a soul, which is the image and had the nature of God. Once it had the complete likeness of God, in term of purity, holiness and perfection. But after the fall it was saturated with all forms of impure and even evil spirit. By our invitation for them to come in, and even allowed them, power and authority to rule our lives, mankind was being transformed into strange and even brutal human being. Some had even become so inhuman, and goes against the natural laws, in the form of murder, rape, daringly goes against God's natural ways of procreation of human beings, by means of cloning, etc.

Mankind had a conscience that comes from God, in package with the soul. This conscience, through the manipulation of our freewill can be taught and brain-washed by the flesh and its evil desires, world and the devil. The outcome shall be a conscience, that cannot defend the soul inside of us.

God gives us His Holy Spirit, through His Son, Jesus Christ, to function as Children of God, by nourishing the souls, so as to stay strong.

The soul hungers and thirsts for God's Spirit, like an infant for his mother's breast milk.

Therefore the priority and our attention must be given first to the soul. Let our body be used us rug to polish the diamond inside of us. The practice of self-denial is crucial so as to allow the pure human spirit to glow, in victory, suppressing the sinful human spirit. The physical and its needs and desires are like a thick blanket that covered up the body.

The desires of the flesh are unquenchable and cannot be fulfilled, after sin had entered into our hearts. The devil had never been able to be satisfied with even the best, mankind had given to him.

What use is there to entertain them and let them destroy our souls? Therefore the mystery of fasting comes in.

Fasting and prayer are mean, in which we offer up everything to God. Let God be the Lord and master of our bodies, souls and spirits. Letting God, overpower even our needs.

Fasting and prayer cannot be detached. We can either fast and sacrifice our bodies or indulge our bodies and sacrifice our souls. The human art of fasting apart from God, can be for the purpose of self-improvement, strengthening our will power, as a whole to be in control of our lives. This form of fasting does not benefit our relationship with God, thus had no positive impact on the wellbeing of the souls. It is just like feeding an infant with cow's milk or an inferior food, not breast milk.

Fasting can be in the form of food, pleasures and precious time, entertainment, movies, music, sleep, energy, strength, money, etc.

It depends so much on what we most desires and treasures in our lives. God demands detachment from everything. Therefore, for fasting to be most pleasing and powerful, we needed to sacrifice them, in our lives. By doing so our spirits and souls triumph. There would be so much love, peace and joy of Christ in our hearts.

In the Lord's prayer, Jesus taught us to ask the Father for our daily bread. This daily bread is necessities in life. We all need them immediately or in the future, but if we selfishly store up everything, denying others of their basic needs, we had done injustice to our souls and spirits. We in this world are trained to depend, rely and trust in God to provide for us, our family and children. God makes us instruments to extend His loving Providence to others. We must remember God is not a mean God, but a very generous God who cares not only for our physical but most important are our spirits and souls. For God knows that our bodies are only temporary clothing, but the souls needed clothing that last for eternity. The soul needs a glorified body to dwell. Our human bodies, together with its sin and darkness are bound to return to the earth. That would occur after we die. God would gives all of us an imperishable spiritual clothing, during the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. What is the use of trying to clothe our souls with only earthly clothing?

No doubt we had to search and to find our physical food and needs, but God takes care of everything as He had promised. He said even sparrows that are easily and cheaply sold, God cares for every single one of them. When one drop down, God knows. Lilies in the field do not take care of themselves but God took care of them, and even King Solomon was not as wise as those lilies. The birds in the air, they do not worry about food or starvation, but they just flap their wings and fly out every morning or during feeding time to search for food. God provides for them.

God promised that we only need to trust and rely on Him. As long us we are like lilies, which stretch out their roots and stems to the sunlight and water, like birds, happily going out every morning to search for food, and not be greedy, God will sure to provide.

For we are so much precious then all of them. He showers us not only with our physical needs, abundantly but most of all spiritual.

Therefore for our own good, God wants us to detach ourselves from indulging in seeking material gain and comfort but rather the opposite.

Seek what the physical mind cannot explain and the things the human eyes could not see. For they are superior and eternal.

To detach means, to be able to live with or without it. Not to worship or have high regards for them. Instead to treat them like sweets and tidbits, not real food for the nourishment of our souls.

This can be done, through our conviction, that if all property, precious relationship, lost of loved ones, through accidents or death, careers, professions and income had to be sacrificed, yet God must stay. By this vow and pledge, to God, out of our sincerity of our hearts, there is no way God is going to mercilessly reject that person.

Praise the Lord. Amen.
