The Parable of the Shepherd (John 10:1-21)
Jesus said, "I am telling you the truth: the man who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in some other way, is a thief and a robber.
God, through Jesus Christ knocks on the 'front' doors of our hearts, seeking entry. Jesus would not tempt anyone of us, who ought to freely open up to Him, because He owns us; instead He is indeed a true 'gentleman', who never lure us into committing ourselves to Him. He would tell us the truth about the cost of discipleship and awaits our free response. He would be very patient with all of us. Even though we refused to let Him in when He knocked on our 'doors', but He patiently watches over us. He would protect us from any intruder and relieve our anxiety and fear.
But the forces of darkness are very aggressive and their temptations were mere words, without real fruits. They lured us with sweet promises and gain, which appealed to the sinful flesh and desire. The forces of darkness knew that the soul was the Life of God in us, so they dared not 'touch' that part. But they knew that the flesh and the human spirits, were the hands to feed the souls. If the flesh opens its door to God, His Spirit flows in to the great joy of the souls. Therefore the forces of darkness concentrated on the flesh and the human spirits. They would stir these into confusion and fear. They deceived and convinced them to shut their 'doors' to God, so that 'they' can freely 'party' in our house. But did we know that they enter offering nothing, but instead they feed on our lives. Covered us from the love of God. They wanted us to take revenge against God, because they could not. They could only concentrate taking vengeance on God, through manipulating His treasure on earth. God's treasure on earth is His Image and Likeness, which dwelled in our souls. God wanted to adopt human beings into heaven. There wasn't any human figure and flesh in heaven, before creation of human being on earth. God wanted human being to be part of the heavenly creatures, beside the angels. He created us and made sure that His plans would succeed. He paid a huge price to redeem us, through Jesus Christ His Son.
The forces of darkness, used different channels and instruments to intrude into our lives as thieves and robbers. They steal and rob God, in and through us. They may even, if given the opportunity to use us to intrude into the lives of others. We began to steal and rob for them.
These forces of darkness come and knock, through the 'backdoors' of our hearts or through other openings, which we allowed. This means that if we had not trusted in God; unknowingly we are opening up holes for the Devil to intrude into our lives. If we had fully trusted in God, our front doors would be widely opened for God to enters and freely dwells, as though they were God's own 'house'.
When our 'front doors' are widely open and all the inner doors of our hearts are opened to God; the Devil fled from us, but if we decided to close even a single door; the Devil would never fail to exploit our foolishness. In the absence of God, that area that we closed up to God, is 'hell' and enslavement.
The man who goes in through the gate is the shepherd of the sheep.
The gatekeeper opens the gate for him; the sheep hear his voice as he calls his own sheep by name, and he leads them out.
When he has brought them out, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him, because they know his voice.
All mission of Jesus is in the 'hands' of God. Every mission, may it be core or refined missions are carefully plan by God, for Jesus to carry out. Jesus would distribute His missions to those whom He can trust. These people needed to be open to the Spirit of Christ and of the Father.
Jesus would be the first to explore the 'virgin' lands of which His mission is going to work. These are the vineyards of the Lord, with different roles, priorities and responsibilities. God, through Jesus would be the first to move into those areas. Only after that He would send us to move in together with Him.
The core mission is with the authority Jesus Christ, entrusted to the Church. The refined ones are varies and most of them seemed insignificant, yet all are equal, because these were Christ's missions.
Therefore for every new movements or plans we intent to implement, we must seek God in prayer and discernment. We must be patient to wait on God to move in first. We are working on behalf of Christ, there must not be anxiety or fear, for God shall provide everything. Our prayers must then be full of hope and faith.
Children of God need to be familiar with the voice or work of God. We must continue to exercise the Gift of wisdom and discernment, so that we would not be deceived. For the voice and work of God brings about great love and joy; whereas the forces of darkness, fear, anxiety, despair and hopelessness
Whatever works Christ entrusted us to do are precious and urgent in the 'eyes' of God. Salvation of the souls and the redemption of the world are urgent matters, which we must not relent; not until our earthly life is over; then God would give us our 'rest'.
If we had not done our parts or play our roles; after death there shall be no 'rest', as the souls cannot find peace because we missed the precious chance, opportunity and time of grace.
They will not follow someone else; instead, they will run away from such a person, because they do not know his voice."
Jesus told them this parable, but they did not understand what he meant.
JESUS THE GOOD SHEPHERD
So Jesus said again, "I am telling you the truth: I am the gate for the sheep. All others who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them.
I am the gate. Whoever comes in by me will be saved; he will come in and go out and find pasture.
The thief comes only in order to steal, kill and destroy. I have come in order that you might have life - life in all its fullness.
"I am the good shepherd, who is willing to die for the sheep. When the hired man, who is not a shepherd and does not own the sheep, sees a wolf coming, he leaves the sheep and runs away; so the wolf snatches the sheep and scatters them.
The hired man runs away because he is only a hired man and does not care about the sheep.
I am the good shepherd. As the Father knows me and I know the Father, in the same way I know my sheep and they know me.
And I am willing to die for them.
There are other sheep, which belong to me that are not in this sheep pen. I must bring them, too; they will listen to my voice, and they will become one flock with one shepherd.
"The Father loves me because I am willing to give up my life, in order that I may receive it back again.
No one takes my life away from me. I give it up of my own free will. I have the right to give it up, and I have the right to take it back. This is what my Father has commanded me to do."
Again there was a division among the people because of these words. Many of them were saying, "He has a demon! He is crazy! Why do you listen to him?"
But others were saying, "A man with a demon could not talk like this! How could a demon give sight to blind people?"
I AM TELLING YOU THE TRUTH; I AM THE GATE FOR THE SHEEP. ALL OTHERS WHO COME BEFORE ME ARE THIEVES AND ROBBERS, BUT THE SHEEP DID NOT LISTEN TO THEM.
I AM THE GATE...WHOEVER COMES IN BY ME WILL BE SAVED; HE WILL COME IN AND GO OUT AND FIND PASTURE.
This seemed very harsh indeed to call others who come before Jesus as thieves and robbers.
Who are called thieves and robbers?
Even Peter who came after Christ, as far as mission was concerned could never perform as hired shepherd to the people of God; not unless the Holy Spirit came to him.
The Holy Spirit first and foremost enlightened the mind and heart of the first Apostles; then from their channels of submissiveness and obedience, God continued to channel His Light through Peter and the first Apostles to as far as the whole world.
We could call ourselves followers of Peter, Paul, Blessed Mother Mary and St. Joseph, or any other saints, but it was God who draws us to them. It was God who was stationed and stored His Gifts and blessing in them. It was God who decided to consecrate them as channels of light, grace and blessing, for the 'little ones' of God.
Without God dwelling and empowering them; they were in fact powerless to serve as co-shepherd, hired by God, through Jesus Christ. This empowerment we must not forget, was through, with in unity with the Holy Spirit.
WHOEVER COMES IN BY ME WILL BE SAVED
Jesus is the gatekeeper who allows only those who were prepared to be true disciples to enter into His Father's mansion or heaven.
The qualification for entry is submission to the will of God, in Jesus Christ. Those still under modification for entry could be still alive in this world or had returned to the next, in purgatory.
He is the holder of the heavenly key into that awesome wonderful place of peace, love and joy.
He entrusted that key into the Kingdom of God, in this world to Saint Peter and his successors.
He entrusted means; Jesus is still the sole holder of the key and He entrusted this key to all spiritually anointed successors.
The whole creation of the unseen, spiritual world is focusing on the gate into the Kingdom of God; what more, the Devil, who tried to prevent God's Children from treading the right path.
Jesus as victorious human being; had been glorified to be completely one in the depth and purity of love with the Father and the Son, through the working, empowerment and presence of the Holy Spirit, in the two personality of God. Depth and purity of love means God's love or divine love. This love is characterized by its natures of selflessness, co-operation, unity in will and desire. It would not fear of hurt, pain or suffering, but endurance and perseverance are its character. This love is filled with hope and faith; which meant that whatever the Godhead and humanity of Jesus will to do; it shall be done to its perfection and accomplishment.
The humanity of Jesus is at the service of God's people. He was consecrated to manifest and express God's love and commitment to salvage the lost little ones of God.
Jesus mission was never separated or deviated from that of God. What He did, does and will do, would be the same as that of God.
He was never separated from the suffering and trials that came about because of the consequence of sin, in human nature and the world.
'He had to learn through all His suffering to be humble'. Indeed Jesus went through the natural toil of human lives. All others had failed to be completely holy, but not Jesus of Nazareth, born of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
All this was possible because God was fully in Him. Not merely as 'moon', but as 'sun'.
'Moons' received light from the sun, in order to be bright and beautiful, so to serve its purpose. Whereas the 'sun', is the source and giver of light to all the 'moons' and the whole world.
Jesus is the light of the world. He is not merely the transmission of that divine light, but the Almighty and powerful God, who lived before the beginning of time, dwelled in His whole human nature; soul, body, spirit in complete cohesion and submission to each other.
This did not happen automatically, even though He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit. His human will had to be consulted and respected too.
He was God who created everything, but He chose to come down from His glorious throne and share the fate of sinners.
This happened so that Man could grasp and understand the nature and personality of God.
Otherwise Man would questioned themselves, 'How can God be in Jesus, yet still everywhere? Why is God so powerless, as depicted by Jesus, during the self-defeat, whereby He was not supposed to reveal God's authority and power...'
Man began to use their saturated wisdom, which was imperfect and impure to judge God's wisdom. The wisest human brain and mind can never analyze or understand the mind and wisdom of its creator.
The Divine Nature of Jesus, while on earth, is the Almighty and powerful God, whom we called 'Son of God' and the human nature and body, the 'Son of Man'.
God continued to train human Jesus to follow and reverse what the first Adam had damaged.
This Jesus was God's only hope to fulfill the salvation of Man. God personally loved and allowed human Jesus to suffer torture and die a shameful death.
This death by itself is the depiction of our sinful nature and the darkness of the Devil that dwelled in the hearts and minds of Man and the whole world.
During Jesus' baptism of which He need not have to undergo because of His perfection and was sinless, but yet for Man own sake He shared the outcome of the fall of His brothers and sisters on earth, by plunging Himself into the Jordan River; a sign of rebirth and new life.
It is the dawning of God's plan of salvation, which came into reality and light, only after Jesus' death and resurrection.
John the Baptist, was the one who came to herald the Messiah. He prepared the way for the Lord to walk through. The valleys to be filled, the mountains and hills leveled, the crooked ways of Man made straight and the road to be smoothened, so that the king of glory could pass through. This is about the disposition of our human hearts and will that had long been deserted, crooked and overgrown with thorns and bushes; good only for serpents and wild beast to dwell. John the Baptist and others came to amend and convert the lives of Man, so that Jesus could enters into our lives and is at 'home' there. He cannot enter into Man's hearts that are too proud, crooked, arrogant, selfish and self-centered. If our human conscience were trained and would only submit to God, if 'human logic, justice and wisdom' could grasp and understand; are unworthy for God. Our lives in the spiritual world, are interactions of our souls, hearts, minds and spirit with those of God. This reality is experienced, only through faith, not human logic, justice or wisdom.
Faith in God, brought about the infusion of God's gift of wisdom. This could never be interchanged or bought with material; rather a free gift from the Almighty and generous God.
To have faith in God is; wisdom of God, imparted into Man. To be able to exercise faith is putting God's wisdom to use. God is impartial and there is no favoritism in distribution of this gift. Just like the ray of the sun; would be experienced by those who were exposed.
The martyrs of the past, present and future willingly died for God, not because they were perfect and holy; rather because Jesus had become part and parcel of their lives. Jesus never feared the cross but called the moment when He accepted the cross as the 'hour of glory', so would the martyrs. Through this 'hour of glory', whereby people of God are being tested with fire, yet found perfect, would be ready to be converted into stone, in partnership with the 'cornerstone', in building the Holy Temple of Jerusalem.
Jesus is the only Anointed True Shepherd who is willing to give up His human life for the sake of the salvation of the people of God and the redemption of the world.
God claimed back His own territory, through Jesus Christ. The ransom was another human life, so that what the first had done, which led to the fall; another had to bring about the rise. God in fact installed eternal life for the first Adam and Eves, yet they failed to live up to that standard.
The consequence of the fall was physical death, which God decided not to restore, but to allow Mankind, including Jesus to die. The physical death of Jesus was not eternal, but God gave Jesus the power to conquer human death, by rising Him. Therefore humankind had to die, but all shall rise again; including those rises to condemnation. For God, who raised Jesus from the death would not be slow to reward eternal life to those that are His.
Man are free to choose whoever or whatever spiritual or material to be the master and lord of their lives. They could choose God, self or the Devil. To juggle and only accept those that benefited our human lives reduced as to be the slave of the flesh or 'self'.
To allow the spirit and values of the world to govern our flesh and the Spirit of God to govern only the souls and spirits, is still far away from the will of God, for we need to trace our origin as far as our existence. We need to truly acknowledge and accept Him as the source of all lives, seen and unseen. As He is the source of every life, He is therefore the Father of every lives and existence. As the only Father; He is therefore the Provider of our need, whether physical or spiritual and Teacher to train us to fit into heaven, even while still 'clothed' in the attire of the world. He wanted to transform us to the righteous path and bend back our deviation.
God would not force His way into Man's heart, but He applied gentle knocks on the doors of our hearts. Not many would respond positively to His knock. Most of us ignored Him and carried on living our lives apart from God. In the absence of God, other adversary spirits are bound to be very active, causing immeasurable harm to the souls and the hearts.
To those who opened the doors of their hearts to God; they would find themselves overwhelmed with so much love, joy, peace and serenity. They would be able to experience and share the joy of the communion of saints in heaven and on earth, as their spirits and souls come together to praise and worship God.
As time, space or matter cannot separate souls and spirits; thus they can come together, without having to depart from the physical bodies, of which they were being clothed. In the communion of saints this miracle happened as God's Spirit draws everyone of us, who had hearts to be one with Jesus together. Their prayers and pleads to God would not be left unheard, nor unanswered. Mary and human Jesus stood among the community of saints; therefore all our words shall be clearly heard and answered.
THE THIEF COMES IN ORDER TO STEAL, KILL AND DESTROY. I HAVE COME IN ORDER THAT YOU MIGHT HAVE LIFE - LIFE IN ALL ITS FULLNESS.
All adversary forces of the Divine Godhead come to steal, kill and destroy. This includes the sinful natures of Man, who always had inclination to commit sin and participated with the Devil, in destroying their own lives.
The goodness that still enkindled Man and the world was the trace of God's goodness, which once filled paradise. God willed it to stay, to the disappointment of the Devil. This means that God would never allow that glimpse of hope to extinguish and die off.
Darkness, evil and the Devil, used various instruments on earth to channel its venom, trying to kill and destroy Man.
Darkness seemed to be the best hideout to those who listened to the Devil and lived in sin. In their domain of hell, sin is just natural. Therefore those who felt so at home with sin, were in fact dwelling in hell. They dwell in darkness, because their hearts were the same as the Devil, yet some were dragged and deceived. These were the 'lost sheep' that Jesus is on lookout and goes all out to rescue.
The Devil offered seemingly delicious fruits from the Tree in the Middle of the Garden. These fruits seemed more appealing than those abundantly available.
Jesus as God, is the owner of all the souls; in condition of purity or impurity, except those already death. Death souls are those without God's life in them. These souls do not function in obedient to the will and plan of God, rather they joined the Devil as rebels against God's goodness. As God's life is not with them, they were therefore not drawn to Him, but rather to the adversary forces of darkness. God disowned them, because they had completely rejected God. In this phrase of complete rejection, they dwelt separately from God; thus without God, they were in fact in hell, with the Devil.
God, through Jesus Christ would go all out to save sinners, like shepherd looking for a lost sheep, when it cried out for help. Not completely purified saints are still living in exile. They could be those still in this world, clothed in sinful attires of human flesh, or those still in the process of purification in purgatory, exiled not because of the physical attires of flesh, rather the veil of sins and impurity.
Jesus as God, intended that all Man lived their lives in dignity as beloved Children of God. In dignity here been freedom and truth. We need to know the real purpose of our very existence. God, through Jesus Christ wants us to be set free from the enslaving spirits of the world. Although arrived in this world; we are to seek for God alone, through His handiwork and masterpiece in this world. We are to truly know from the depth of our hearts; the existence of God's life in individual being, who are created to the image and likeness of God. We are to show love, mercy and compassion to them, in times of their failures. We had to put God's justice into practice.
The world version of living life to the fullest is different from God's version. The world judges through tainted conscience, hearts and minds, whereas God judges through the purity, holiness and perfection that are in Him.
The world's version of living life to the fullest also depended on which angles we are looking from. Is it from the point of material wealth, assets and possessions, or from the point of academic achievement, worldly wisdom and astuteness?
The world judgement of perfection does not go on par with that of God, if the judges were trained by the wisdom of the world.
These people whom the world judged as role models, might had gain the whole world, but are they able to save their own souls?
Had they sold their only immortal treasure in exchange for the world?
To juggle between the two, so to balance acquiring physical assets and at the same time spiritual, is indeed wise, yet not live up to the standard God meant our lives to be.
God meant that we offer up what belonged to Him, in recognition of the Almighty as our only Father, Master and Teacher. We would listen to Him as a Father, obeyed Him as our master and learned from Him as our Teacher.
Our human strength needed to be consecrated to become God's strength; thus serving Him, not by our effort, but His. Yet He did not degrade us to be mere robots of which we in fact ought to be. For we are created by His own power and will. The whole content of our physical bodies is His. We do not have anything, but God gave us dignity and respect. He gives us a will to choose.
Most people in this world; used what belonged to God, to serve other false gods of our choice. We abused and manipulated the freewill that God entrusted to us. This finally brought about our own destruction.
For those who lived their lives to the fullness, depended, relied and trust in God alone. Whatever God gave; they appreciated and cherished. Whatever God took; they willing surrendered, with knowledge that it was for their own good. Whatever God held on; they patiently waited. Whatever God commanded; they obeyed.
They had full faith in the wisdom and providence of God. Mary and human Jesus had lived their lives to the fullness. The two perfect models; of which we must learn to imitate. Their rewards were eternal life in union with God; in body, soul and spirit; uncorrupted. This reward honored
to Mary came about, from the fruit of her Son Jesus Christ's resurrection. Their physical bodies of the earth were glorified and taken into heaven. Mary was a new creature of God. Her parents conceived her through natural mean. But this child Mary was willed by God to be perfect, in body, soul and spirit. She was chosen to be the Ark of the Tabernacle of which inside her womb, dwelled the Son of God.
Inside the Catholic Church, we can see the case, which stored the consecrated bread, which becomes the Body of Christ. The case was likened to be the womb of Mary.
Inside the womb is the 'sun', symbolized God. This 'sun' continued to shine into all areas of her body; as she never resisted the 'light', but instead opened up all areas of her heart and life to this 'sun', who is the God. Son of God is God Himself, incarnated into Son of Man.
Mary was thus as bright as the brightest moon, receiving the fullness of the light of the sun.
Jesus Christ, as God dwelled powerfully in Mary, not only during her conception of Jesus, but even the moment of her conception in the womb of her mother.
Mary had loved God with all her heart, soul, mind and strength. This God that she had given her whole heart and life was to be conceived in her womb. What great joy, she must have felt! What a great honor and blessing, to have this God, in her womb!
Therefore she counted herself blessed, because God had honored her, among all other women, as in the beginning of time.
This Jesus who was her son, continued to be in her heart, soul and mind. This Jesus is God, who loved Mary before she was even born. Her soul came from the bosom of God. Her soul came from the heart of God. She was to be filled with the essence of God's love. Her soul shared the mission of God. She took the Son of God, just the way she worshipped God.
She was not exempted from temptations, but just like her Son Jesus, her temptation was far stronger and aggressive than any other Man, had experiment. For the whole world of darkness focused on these two personalities, who would toppled its reign on their stolen territories.
The power of God was fully in them, so that darkness was powerless over them. They had to make their own decisions too.
After death, Mary received her reward from her Son Jesus Christ. Her Son honored her mother with the title of Queen of all saints. Just like Jesus was seated at the right hand side of the Father, Mary too was seated at the right hand side of Jesus. This did not mean that Mary can personally give her command, but her command was indeed her Son's command.
Glorified human Jesus was given power and authority by God; His command and power was God's own power. God does not exercise His power to dominate others; rather He shares His power and authority with those who are obedience and trustworthy.
When the Holy Spirit came into the womb of Mary; two unique cells merged and life came into being. One cell was the ovary of Mary, whereas the other 'cell' the Spirit of God. He is God, became the Son. Human cell merged with Divine 'cell'.
We cannot call the Spirit of God cell, but symbolically. The ovary cell in the womb of Mary was a perfect human cell. When life formed it consisted of a soul, human spirit, human heart and will. Whereas the other; the divinity of God who is the Holy Spirit, who became the Son of God. He is to dwell in the Son of Man, through incarnation.
Accompanied His Divine nature and being, is the Almighty power of God; who is Omni-potent, presence and Omniscient.
Though enclosed in a human flesh; His presence, power, authority and love ruled the whole creation seen and unseen. He decided to conceal His power and authority as God; so He allow His human nature to take control of Him, until the time He had to reveal, so that the faith, of His Disciples would increased.
His death was the manifestation of His love for us. He took our sins upon Himself and thus suffered the consequence of sin Himself. His death was not final; for God did not judge Him as
sinners. Through His death, which was the final journey of His earthly life, He won victory over death for His brothers and sisters on earth and all those who had died long ago.
He won this victory for His mother too.
He was raised from the death and later reigned with God. He was seated at the right hand side of God, which mean that He represented God. God gave His human glorified body God's own power and authority. Therefore human Jesus from that day forth would draws all His brothers and sisters who trusted in Him; to God through His Human Body, called the Mystical Body of Christ.
Therefore through Jesus God and Man shall seat at the table and become one again, just like before the fall.
This glorified Jesus and God seek for a dwelling place in the hearts of Man. Not as mere guest, but He wanted to make a 'home' in our hearts and lives.
Through the Holy Spirit, Jesus comes to each one of our hearts and lives, not as part, but as the whole of Jesus, together with His Divinity or Trinity Godhead.
Those who opened up all areas of their lives, just like Mary did; indeed had lived their lives to the fullness.
It is a fact that most of us are far from having lived our lives to the fullness.
I AM THE GOOD SHEPHERD, WHO IS WILLING TO DIE FOR THE SHEEP.
WHEN THE HIRED MAN, WHO IS NOT A SHEPHERD AND DOES NOT OWN THE SHEEP, SEES A WOLF COMING, HE LEAVES THE SHEEP AND RUNS AWAY; SO THE WOLF SNATCHES THE SHEEP AND SCATTERS THEM.
Jesus used the scenario of shepherd and sheep, because the Jewish people of that time are very familiar with the environment.
Sheep farms were everywhere. Many of the followers and listeners of Jesus were of such category of farmer.
The people knew how much the sheep and its health meant to the shepherd. How precious was each sheep.
They would go all out to search for the lost one and leave the rest to other caretakers and guards.
This does not mean that the lost sheep was a privileged lot, rather the sympathy towards the lost one, who would, cried out all day and night, even though they had no more voice.
God would surely go all out to search for the fragile and ignorant little sheep, until they are found.
If they refused to cry out for help, but instead learned to be complacent with being lost and learned to accommodate, in a strange environment; God would never force them to return.
They might have enjoyed the company of the bound to be lost sheep, or search for new farmers or shepherds, who do not own the sheep, but greedily took those ignorant ones as though theirs.
These lost sheep would have to adapt to the new environment, in a strange sheep pen and abide by the rules and laws of the new shepherds.
They would have to be satisfied with the inferior food that was given by the ignorant, greedy, selfish shepherds, who do not know the perfect nutrition for the sheep.
How does this parable apply?
Many of us, even Christians roam around and later left the sheep pen. They once experience life as Christian, but later left their religion and God, to search for other gods, whom they can physically see and experience.
One of these gods that Man greedily hunger, thirst or worship is money and wealth.
Having acquired these material assets; others in turn would be allured to these, because of the great respect and honor which they would be showered with, when they had plenty of these assets. They were indeed blessed by God, if they had acquired these through the providence of God, by honest mean. God does not caused these people to be separated from Him, rather God would bless them with plenty more, if they allow themselves to be distributors and co-providers to others.
By this they would be sure of a place in heaven, just like on earth. They shall have abundant in this world, so is the next. This is how rich people on earth can share in the riches of heaven too.
Jesus is the only good shepherd, who truly owned the sheep.
As Son of Man, God entrusted Him with the responsibility of the salvation of His very own; that is all human beings.
Salvation could only come into reality, after redemption, because Man's disobedience had greatly offended God. By disobedience Man had driven the goodness of God out of their lives and territory.
In order to be able to claim back what we rejected, Jesus as Man's representative had to die. This was the graveness and reality of sin, which caused the life of all descendents of the fallen Adam and Eve. God told Adam and Eve of the seriousness of sin, but they listened to the Devil instead; who told them that they would not surely died, but instead their eyes would be open. They shall be like God.
By being obedience to the Devil, they had indeed become gods themselves, but heaven is not for them. Their human flesh became master of their lives. They became the slaves of their own sinful flesh and desire. By their enslavement, they could not share in the essence and goodness of heaven. For their lives and hearts were too congested with other responsibilities which were not from God, but their masters the Devil.
After consuming the forbidden fruits, Adam and Eve, together with their descendents would have to died and then be judged.
God's compassion and love far exceeded His wrath and anger; therefore instead of wiping off and destroy the whole human race; He decided to take a flesh of human being, to be our victim and died on our behalf, so to atone for our sin. In fact God need not be incarnated into a human being. He could just cancelled off our sins and bring us back to Himself again, yet He would not. Human being would then be too blind not to witness and see the great manifestation of His love.
Even after witnessing His depth of love and the price sin caused Man, yet we are still too blind and weak not to strongly resist sin and the Devil.
Therefore through His undying love for us, He had proven Himself as the only shepherd who truly own and love His sheep.
Jesus not only dies for the whole world, but for every unworthy human being. Even one out of a hundred sheep, that is lost; Jesus would not relent, but go all out with His heart and strength to search for it.
THE HIRED MAN RUNS AWAY BECAUSE HE IS ONLY A HIRED MAN AND DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THE SHEEP!
Who is the hired man?
God hired the human flesh of people, so to channel His Spirit; thus consecrating them as servants and instruments of God.
The hired man; after sensing troubles of which his human flesh and spirit would have to suffer for the sake of God or others, would be very hasty to break away from partnership with God, as hired shepherd.
Even Peter, who promised that he, would follow Jesus, wherever He went; denied being His disciple, then having any knowledge about Jesus and finally totally making Jesus his stranger.
Peter as a human being, just like us would pursue, the will of the flesh; thus sacrificing the souls and the will of God.
Jesus as a human being, would not be able to fulfill God's will for Him, if He decided to live apart from God and His mission.
DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THE SHEEP
Jesus was making statement condemning the reality of the situation; whereby the religious leaders who were supposed to lead God's people back to Him; instead did not care about the SHEEP.
The Jewish authorities were indeed furious, as they were ignorant of the fact that they had not only displeased God, but God was furious with them.
We need to learn this lesson well and not repeat what they had done.
God demanded that His hired shepherds, to be like Christ Jesus. They needed to be the complete likeness of Christ; yet most of us failed. God understood our weaknesses and incapability; so He sent forth His Spirit, called the Holy Spirit, to guide us; by living in us, through us and with us. We need not fear, if the Holy Spirit is with us. For the love, mercy and compassion of Jesus far exceed what we could possibly grasp. All we need to do is to submit to God, through Jesus Christ, in the working of the Holy Spirit. Our human spirits and souls can only unite with God, through the Holy Spirit. We need to be 'little and humble' before Him, so that He can be great and be worshipped.
If we tried to extract the essence of worldly wisdom and use them as 'pasture and water' for the sheep of God, we indeed had deviated. For the sheep of God, in reality do not need this pasture. By feeding them with inferior food, they would grow up to be starved of even basic nutrients.
The sheep of God need the pasture and spring of living water from heaven. They need the Holy Spirit; it's various gifts and blessing. These gifts came to us through the 'hands' of the hired shepherds; especially through the sacraments given by Christ, in the Church. These sacraments were symbols of which Christ took the sacramental of the earth, as signs of His presence and blessings.
We need to look at the Church as a Mother; who takes all the necessities from God, for His Children on earth. We must not concentrate on the weaknesses of God's Instruments, rather on the love and mercy of God, which no one of us can ever claim to have expressed perfectly, except Jesus and Mary.
Words of God, which comes out of the mouth of His hired instruments, must not be saturated with words of the Devil or the sinful flesh; so to be pleasing to God. This sin had been too widely committed and most of us had learned to ignore.
In moments of urgency and need, God could even transformed great sinners into His instruments, so that His sheep would be fed and guided.
God not only consecrates us as His instruments for others, but firstly for ourselves; by transforming our sinful natures and wills to that of Christ.
The main purpose of consecrating us is to be His partakers; in His works, missions and later on be able to harvest eternal reward for ourselves. This is the fruit of laboring for Christ.
It would be hypocrisy to proclaim God's goodness, without ourselves truly experiencing them.
Evangelization starts from us, being evangelized by God. God, as Teacher, Lord and Master teaches us from within and through consecrated instruments. After having enlightened; God wants us to bring the 'Good News' to others. God would not blame those who are yet to be evangelized, for being poor evangelizers. But it would be a sin, if we refused to be enlightened and taught by God, from within and through others, who had been consecrated for the purpose.
I AM THE GOOD SHEPHERD. AS THE FATHER KNOWS ME AND I KNOW THE FATHER, IN THE SAME WAY I KNOW MY SHEEP AND THEY KNOW ME.
Only the spirit of a person knew the fullness about himself, not so much the heart or the mind.
Only God's Spirit, who dwelled in oneness in the Son, would have the fullness of knowledge, understanding, heart and will of the Father.
Only through the Spirit of the victorious Son of Man, who was fully engulfed and filled, with the whole being of the Father, knew perfectly about the Son.
Both the Father and the Son merged into each other; through the oneness of the same Spirit.
Both share the same power and authority as the origin and source of all goodness and life.
If the Spirit of that Divine union, dwells in us and empowers us; we would also know the Father and the Son, through His revelations and grace in us.
If our human hearts, souls and spirits were fully united with God, through the Holy Spirit; we shall be drawn into the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Like the father of the lost son ran out towards the road to embrace the returned son; Jesus too reach out to us, even before we say the words of repentant.
This is how saints, angels, Jesus and the Divine Godhead become one with all His creation.
All were united, because of the Holy Spirit, who dwells and empowers each of them.
Praise the Lord. Amen.
