Jesus Speaks About His Death. (John 12:27-36)
"Now my heart is troubled - and what shall I say?
Shall I say, "Father, do not let this hour come upon me"?
But that is why I came - so that I might go through this hour of suffering.
Father, bring glory to your name!"
Then a voice spoke from heaven, "I have brought glory to it, and I will do so again."
The crowd standing there heard the voice, and some of them said it was thunder, while others said, "An angel spoke to him!"
But Jesus said to them, "It was not for my sake that this voice spoke, but for yours.
Now is the time for this world to be judged; now the ruler of this world will be overthrown.
When I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw everyone to me." (In saying this he indicated the kind of death he was going to suffer.)
The crowd answered, "Our Laws tell us that the Messiah will live forever. How, then, can you say that the Son of Man must be lifted up?
Just like any ordinary human being, Jesus was questioning Himself too.
Which direction shall I take next?
We too would be asking that similar question, if we are really serious about our lives and salvation.
Is this the will of God?
Are those things that I do, pleasing to God?
We too ought to pray like Jesus prayed. To be open to God and let Him directs our lives.
We had to paralyze the will of the sinful flesh; close our eyes, ears and senses to the world and prayed, like Christ prayed.
Then we would be able to know the will of God and receive His blessing and courage to work and fulfill God's will for others and us.
After the seeds had sprouted and grow into healthy plant; it is time to flower and bear fruits.
God would provide the best nourishment for those plants, which had grew into beautiful trees, full of leaves; so to bear fruits.
Once it started to bloom and bear fruit; new form of fertilizer is needed. Then the leaves would decrease, but the flowers and fruits aplenty.
The whole tree now concentrate its energy on bearing fruits and thus serve its very purpose, so are our spiritual lives.
When we had reached the limit, of which we are to mature as Christians, God is calling each of us to bear spiritual fruits, through His providence of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. Likened to plants which stretch out their roots, so to absorb 'fertilizer', that would enable the plants to bear fruit, so too we must allow ourselves, by opening our hearts and yield to God's Spirit. The recipients of graces would be able to bear fruits in the roles they are called to play.
We must be willing to sacrifice, just like the trees; sacrificed its beautiful leaves and branches, in order to carry flowers and heavy fruits.
Jesus came for the purpose of redemption. All the miracles, power and authorities, that God wanted Him to manifest, so to open the eyes of the spiritually blind creatures of God, to the light of Christ, as Son of Man who received power from God, were done.
Now, He is at the crossroad of life!
Should He choose for God or His human will and nature?
To be one with the world, or to be with God and at the service of the 'lost one' of the world?
He chose the latter, and sacrificed His body.
All that Jesus had done was to glorify the name of God, not even Himself as perfect Man.
'I have brought glory to it, and I will do so again.'
The life of Jesus was an extra-ordinary one, yet each of us is called to live that extra-ordinary life. That is to sacrifice the physical beauty for the inner beauty of the hearts and the souls.
Jesus Christ's words, actions, obedience and characters; were most pleasing before God.
All hopes of redemption and salvation, God had for the world, especially Man, was then in the 'hands' of Jesus Christ.
God knew that human Jesus; with His mind, heart and soul, together with His strength, would never be able to accomplish the greatest task of which no one had ever ventured before.
That cross of which, He would be carrying would bring about great humiliation and shame to Himself, who before then had marvelous supernatural God's Power to perform what no man, together with its wisdom, could ever perform. He had conquered all human authority and its limitation, together with His human will.
Sin exposed would bring about great shame and humiliation. These penalties were ours, not Jesus', yet He took upon Himself.
His disciples would be in great dilemma and confused to witness the powerless and helpless Jesus, succumb to the power of the world; like a tame lamb, powerless to struggle free from the grip of the murder's hands, as He obediently enter into the slaughter house.
The Jewish ritual of atonement for sin came into fulfillment as His own people led Jesus into Jerusalem, where He would be sacrificed as 'Lamb of God'.
Yet that was the will of Jesus as a human being or 'Son of Man'. He drank the bitter cup of suffering, which His Father offered Him.
He banished from the status as Son of God and assumed the status of a slave, so to take our place, which only He would be qualified as ransom for the Sin of the whole human race.
The mystery of His suffering was that of the depth of love from the source of that very 'Love'. How great and wholesome was that love and the consequence He had to pay, as the recipients of love were those who would kill Him.
Through this obedience and submission, of which He offered Himself, as Sinners' representative, so to reconcile us with God. God indeed was the one who paid the price for our rise, because this human Jesus was the chosen one of God. God did not abandon Him to suffer a solitary death, but He was One with Jesus.
God filled Human Jesus with His Spirit, to carry forward with His final earthly mission, as He accepted the 'cup of suffering' of which God the Father, offered the Son.
Indeed, God will glorify Him again and again, so are the prayers of those who are submissive and obedience to God.
God answered all of Jesus' prayers, so too, He would do the same to ours, if ours came from the same disposition of Jesus' heart. As we partake in consuming the 'body' and 'blood' of Jesus Christ at every celebration of the Mass, we receive the mystery of His Sacred Heart. Where do we want to enthrone His Heart? If we had enthroned Him into our hearts and give Him all our human power, authority and will, over them; Jesus' Sacred heart would mysteriously replace ours, as we allowed Him. Human wills are very shaky and uncertain; most of the time His heart could not overpowered our sinful hearts, therefore we sinned. Sin is the veil and obstacle for us to view and connect ourselves with God and members of His Kingdom, on earth and heaven. Thus most of our prayers were far from the essence of Christ's prayer, instead they were filled with inequity, selfishness, pride, unforgiveness, etc instead of Love, which filled all of Jesus' prayers.
The crowd heard the voice; some said it was thunder, some said an angel spoke to Him.
That was how the voice of God was interpreted by Man; of which only Jesus, fully understood and was truly familiar. To Him this was the voice of His loving Father, who promised to endure with Him, until He fulfilled both human Jesus' and God's Divine plan of salvation.
To the crowd, this was the only public manifestation of God, who spoke from above the cloud, yet that voice was that of a stranger. God spoke to Man, as from the beginning of time, till today, yet most of us are strangers to this voice of God. God spoke to Man, through various manifestation, as He channel His love into our time and space, are we familiar with Him? He spoke to Man, through various situation and occasion. He reveals Himself through natures, environment, lives experiences, creatures that He created and their natural instincts, relationship of intimate and unconditional love, consecrated instruments or servants of God and the highlight of His revelation was the incarnation of God, into time and space; that was Jesus Christ.
During the baptism of Jesus, only John the Baptist and some blessed people
could hear or felt the words of God spoken and revealed, to Jesus.
John was baptized, even before his birth, as our Blessed Mother Mary, visited Elizabeth. The child in her womb moved with joy, to see the Messiah coming to him. Even though they were still in their mother's womb, but the spirit, knew exactly what happened; that was Jesus in the womb of her mother, Mary, met with John, who was still in his mother's womb. John's spirit and soul knew instantly his mission was to herald the coming of the Messiah.
Jesus said that it was not for His sake that this Voice spoke, but for theirs.
Jesus had already made up His mind and His will fully strengthen to face the great challenges of crushing the sinful will of Man, so to bring about God's glorification and thus Man's Victory.
The voice of God was part and parcel of His own. He was in Jesus Christ, as Son of Man. As Human Jesus became not only the Ark of the Tabernacle of God, but more precisely He was and is the Tabernacle of God.
His human body was the Temple of the Holy Spirit; God's dwelling House on earth.
Therefore as followers of Christ, who were given the Spirit of the resurrected Christ, need to get familiar with the voice of God. In the past, before the coming of Jesus Christ, God's presence and voice were fearsome and powerful. They could not possibly identified God's relationship with Man. Yet that was true, even in our time, to those who were strangers to Jesus. Jesus' came to reveal God to Man. Jesus was the only one, who was truly human, with characters and figure, so familiar. We identified God with Man, through Jesus Christ, or else He would still spoke as the sound of cracking thunders and flashes of lightning.
Without the ability to discern, we would still stood ignorant, misled and deceived.
The Devil can even echo the voice of God, but children of God, would still be able to judge; whether those comes from God or elsewhere.
There are voices that derive from the purity of our hearts in contradiction to the voices of the sinful hearts, which had its source in the Devil.
Those ignorant crowd thought that it was the voice of an angel. The voice was that of God, who is in human Jesus and the Father; the Lord and God of all creation. For the sake of Man's limited understanding God had to separate in Name, not in Spirit. The Father and the Son, dwelled fully in Jesus Christ, yet precisely the Personality that dwell in cohesion with Man, was called; Son of God. Both cannot be separated. God the Father and God the Son, both function through the Holy Spirit, to reign and rule, not only over all systems and laws of nature, but those beings that are physically unseen, yet so much real and tangible; they are eternal. Distinctively, God the Son, who dwells, in every cells and systems of human Jesus, was for the salvation of the world. He was to be one with human being. He was anointed to bring to its final damnation, the tragedies which sin brought about. He shall be the eternal Lamb of God, who bore Man's sin; so be killed and died. All the animals and sacrifices offered were mere symbolic, but Christ brings these rituals into reality. With His death, all other sacrifices were deemed invalid and in fact a sin, if done with knowledge that God only accept One and only Sacrifice, that is that of Human Jesus. Jesus complete obedient, cancelled off the wrath God had on Man. He was completely satisfied with His Son's death. Thus, He would not be slow to glorify Him. As soon as the dawning of the third day, God was impatient to bring victory to His Son. He resurrected human Jesus, then to reign with Him for all eternity. Human Jesus was glorified to become God for all eternity. Praise the Lord. After and now; we had a truly human representative in the presence of God. Through Jesus Christ, God and Man, was finally reconciled.
During the agony in the Garden, after the Last Supper, God seemed far away or even absent. It seemed that God had forsaken or abandoned Jesus to suffer a lonely death. But an angel of the Lord was dispatched to be close by His side always. He was left lonely, without a friend on earth.
This angel was a representative of God. He brought to Jesus assurance, courage or God's gift of fortitude, so that He could accomplish His task of the salvation and redemption of the world.
Those moments that Jesus experienced were always right here before us. God is seeking for our decisions. Are we preparing to do God's will, go God's way, or to abandon Him and go our ways. This was a very critical occasion of which He was called by God to make. God was asking human Jesus for His will. God was saying to human Jesus, "My first creation; Adam had fallen. I told him not to consume the fruit from the tree in the middle of the garden, but they disobeyed Me. Instead they allied with My enemy; the Devil to bring about the destruction of his descendents and as a whole human race. Now! My beloved Son, Jesus it is up to you, to make yours. If you obeyed Me, the whole fallen human race, shall rise again." That was the final trial of His human life.
Thus Jesus was pondering about the consequences He had to endure so to bring about the rise of Man. He said, "Father! Take this cup away from Me! Yet not My will but Yours be done."
With this decision of human Jesus; all the souls and spirits of God's fallen creatures; praised and glorified God, tears of triumph were in their hearts and eyes. After that the consequence of which He had to pay was so huge, but with God finally empowering Him, He became the perfect Lamb of God. His sweat penetrated out of His body, likened to concentrated droplets of blood. That was the traumas of His human life. Yet He called this the 'hour of glory', for which He was looking forward to.
The Kingdom of God was established on earth after His death, as Satan succumbed and fled from his stronghold on earth and especially the hearts of Man. This Kingdom came into reality and enforcement, after the coming of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus came to rescue Man and bring about its rise from sin and slavery. Therefore what are bound to be destroy would have to go. Which means that God concentrate on His Image and Likeness, or the Life of God in human flesh. He was and is all out to set them free from the grip and hold of the Devil.
If the first Adam and Eve, had not alienated themselves from God, by inviting Satan into God's boundary on earth, the whole world, would not have perish, including the human flesh. But because of Satan's presence in the hearts of those who willingly accept them into their lives, the human flesh and all created things had to perish, when Jesus comes again. These were the work and fruits of the Devil and sin in the flesh and the world. Whatever does not have its source from God, would perish, but those of God would be drawn back into heaven.
God indeed, can create a new earth, heaven and all creatures on earth, after the fall, but He was compassionate, so refused to destroy, instead He choose to restore, in Jesus Christ.
God decided that His Son's death, was and is for the salvation of souls; so natures still continues with its mortality, decomposition, decayed and destruction, so were the bodies of human beings, that bear the stain of sins.
God intents to salvage also the human mortal bodies, by glorifying them after they died, of which our Blessed Mother Mary had attained, so had Jesus as a human being.
God drew and draws all souls to Himself, through Christ's cleansing blood; so to redeem and restore.
This was done, so that the Life of God, or His 'Image and Likeness' that were in exiled on earth would not be blanketed by sins and dies.
The Devil cannot take God's Life away, but they were given the ability to block God, from Man, by dragging them into the domain of hell. Liken to the Sun, which was happily shinning in the middle of the sky. No one would be given the ability to block the sunray from man, but man had decided to stay away from the sun.
Plants were naturally wise, to fully expose its leaves and stems, so to be nourished by the rays of the sun, but man had not.
Before the fall of Adam and Eve, it was natural for them to be presence before God, anytime, but after the fall, they hid from God, in fear and shame.
God is the Lord, master and owner of all that He created, which were and are still good. Darkness tried to penetrate the zone of God, but they failed. The Devil was allowed a realm to operate; his power and authority would end when Jesus, declared the end of time. Time stood still and the power of darkness collapsed; the Devil awaited his final destiny, which was a sure damnation, of which greater pain and agony would be added, symbolized by addition of 'sulfur'.
The supreme sight of God screened through the domain of hell and God passed His final judgement. Inhabitants of hells, who had the fullness of the evil spirit in them, joined their source and master, in this eternal punishment.
"Now is the time for this world to be judged. Now, the ruler of this world will be overthrown."
'Now is the time' means that the time is right here. Everything had already been planned. Judas had made up his mind to betray Jesus. He had fully plugged up His courage to go forth and face the imminent trials and persecutions. The Jewish authority, although once their minds and hearts were divided, now are ready to put another Jewish to death, through the Roman authority and law. They were willing to give false witnesses against Him.
'This world, to be judged' means the people of this world and its value. What is physical contradict the spiritual. The spirits and souls are eternal, yet unseen. Man allowed or willed by God, bring another human being into this world, but the spirits and souls, no man could possibly create. They were the life of God. God's treasure, yet was least care and love, by the flesh. Before the fall of Adam and Eve, human flesh, composed of spirits, that were pure and from its source, no other than God alone. The life of the spirits in human is the soul. The soul was made to the image and likeness of God. They had long been tainted and desecrated by man, through the disobedience of Adam and Eve. They failed to recognize and accept God as the sole provider of their needs. They seek for other means to replace their once perfect worship and adoration for God. They stole God's property and manage themselves. The body and its spirits, were the creation and life of God in us, but man decided, through being convinced by the Devil to take what belonged to God for themselves. That was how cruel, bad and irresponsible man, had been, after the fall. After the fall, man and all its descendents lived a deceitful and life of falsehood, pretension and enslavement. They ought to be enslaved by God, who truly loved them. God's enslavement was freedom, with responsibility. If we were under the power and authority of God, who love and truly own us, because we came from Him, there shall be no fear, that God is going to abuse and manipulate the trust we give to Him. For God is incapable of using and abusing man. For man, was His very own. How can God abuse or manipulate His own life and spirit?
If we are under the control and power of sin and the world, there shall naturally be fear, because the Devil and the world shall tried the utmost to suck, the precious trust that man give to them. Liken to a bear, sucking from a honeycomb.
The bear represent the Devil who made human being to be his instruments and slave. Honey represents the soul and the spirit, which come from God.
Jesus is the Light of the World. He is the salt of the earth. He called His disciples to be of the same as He was. With the light entering the domain of darkness, there is definitely a great contrast. The revelation of God into time and space had a great impact and significance. God once spoke to the people; at Mount Sinai, with thunderous voice and flashes of lightning. Then came through Jesus Christ who lived among us. He humbled Himself and united Himself as sinner, He went through trials and persecution. Human Jesus was greatly humiliated, yet God did not rescue Him from this pit of shame. God gave human Jesus the courage and ability to endure and persevere, till He reached His climax of suffering; that was His ultimate death. With His death caused shivering fear in the domain of the Devil, that was hell. The death of Jesus brought about great joy for those united with Him, in their souls and spirits, in the mystery of His suffering. All of us need to be united with Jesus as He died, so as Christ rose from the death, so too, we who had joined our lives with His. The light, that was Jesus, once journey along with man and as pilgrim. Just like we all are, had to leave, but Jesus left physically, but not spiritually. Once He ascended to be one with the Father, He sent forth His Spirit, to those who admit their sinfulness and are spiritually sick. God was not bother with even the depth of sin; for He had the antidote for that deathly sickness. He was and is continuing to seek a home in the lives of sinners, so to be their light and transform them.
With the permanent reign of God in this world, of which, once ruled by the Devil, the world and its values were and are being judged.
Man, after that had to look from the inside, and emphasize on the life of God, that is the soul. God gives us His Spirit, channeling through the most Sacred Heart of Jesus. Therefore God is the judge of the world. We shall not base our lives on the wisdom of tainted man, but on the wisdom of God.
'The ruler of the world will be overthrown'. Who is the ruler of the world, before Jesus Christ?
The Devil had find comfortable home in the lives of once pure creatures of God. Men no longer allowed rooms for God, who was and is the owner of what we have, to be the ruler. Instead Man had invited God's enemy; who was and is the Devil to be their ruler and lord of their lives. That had been acceptable to the world, and Man blindly moved on as though nothing was wrong as it became a natural trend. Since the fall of Man, the world tried to work out acceptable values, for all. These values had ruled the world, overshadowing the perfection of God. Man had made pact with the Devil, till today. Ignorant and deceived, yet complacent, Man moved on living as spiritually death, although physically alive. Their souls and purity of spirits were under the enslavement of the Devil. Man refused to let God's Light shine through, except only a handful, for fear of exposing their sins. In their enslavement, the Devil 'looked you through the eyes and seduce Man, but their hands were like evil magicians, trying to rob, steal and consume something precious from us'. Why are we so foolish, yet complacent! Open up our eyes and let God shine His Light into our hearts and lives! Let His light shine through every knot and corner, so that evil may not have opportunity to hide. The Light of God is the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of the Father, in perfect unity and harmony with the Son. The Father and the Son cannot be separated for eternity. The Spirit of the Son, dwelled in human Jesus while on earth. Then the human Jesus died, but the Spirit of the Son, lived for eternity, with the Father. Then after God judged the Son, perfect and spotless; therefore the law of sinful nature did not apply to Him. He was resurrected from the grave, in a glorified form. This human Jesus was death, as far as physical law is concerned, but glorified by God. Human Jesus after passing through God's judgement, reigned with God for eternity. After that as promised, He drew and draws all Man, to His own glorified human body, or the Mystical Body of Christ, then to God. It was and is through the channel of God, who was and is an Omni-potent, Omni-present and Omniscient God, Jesus can effective administers to all people of different nations. How great was the reward, Jesus called the reward of the hour of glory. He gain this, not for Himself, but out of mutual co-operation between God and Jesus, they shared this price He won, with all of God's Children, whom were made worthy through the love and mercy of God.
Man after the fall had and have lost their sense of direction. God was and is no longer acknowledged and accepted as the Divine Providence. Man do not know where they came from or what purpose they are serving. Man no longer looked up to God for love, affection and approval. They took creatures and things that God created as their gods and masters. Parents no longer serve their purpose God had entrusted to them. The value of life was no longer treasured and upheld. Man took inferior human values and embraced them as their 'compass' in lives. Children struggled to achieve excellence, not merely to serve the purpose of God, but more at the service of their lustful ambition and personal contention. They might also tried to satisfy those sinful desires of their parents. We must not deceive ourselves, and manipulate the children God entrusted to us, for they were not ours, but God's very own property. God had given parents purity of parental love, of which we must not fail to capitalize, or else we displeased God. The children that God had given to us are crafted to the Image and Likeness of God, just like ours. They had roles and responsibility, firstly towards God, then toward their brothers and sisters on earth.
The death of Jesus would not hold any meaning, if we fail to see God, through Jesus seeking our co-operation, to build up the spiritual lives of our children. God would not judge us based on how well our children had excel academically or professionally, but on whether we had fulfil the role God entrusted to us. Every thing and work, that we perform are supposed to be God's work, of which God channel them through the mind, heart and body that God had given us. Therefore we must acknowledge God as the sole Providence and Heavenly Father. His role does not only function after we leave this world, but right here, which was restored through Christ's death and resurrection. 'Thy Kingdom Come!' This was and is our prayer to God, to come to us, not only about the Second Coming of Jesus. He reigns, through the presence of His Victorious Spirit, which Jesus had promised the disciples and us. Pentecost was the birthday of our church. At that day Christianity came into being. That was His Kingdom presence and alive in this world, till today. Failing to experience His presence, but waited anxiously for Christ's Second Coming was a great setback, in our Christian lives. Had we been like the five virgins who failed to fill up their lamps, thus experience darkness, yet complacent with the situation? They were also waiting for Christ's Second Coming, but disappointed when Christ came like a thief, but for those five, who kept their lamps full of oil, were naturally drawn to Jesus, who is the Light.
What does all these oil and virgins mean?
Jesus always symbolized oil for the Holy Spirit. We must be alert and keep watch every moment of our lives. We might be least prepared when Christ comes again. We must keep the Light of Christ burning in our hearts, so not to be like the disappointed virgins, who awaited Jesus Second Coming, but their lives were in darkness, therefore too fearful and shameful to be drawn to the Light.
Man began to struggle selfishly, likened to hungry wild beast, attacked each other, so to satisfy not merely necessities in lives, but the sinful desires. Mankind no longer embraced one another as brothers and sisters of the same heavenly Father.
Jesus came into power, when He died, rose and came down again in His Spiritual form, through the Holy Spirit. Jesus, before He died, when the power of darkness was allowed to rule, was tame and powerless. This was the manifestation of His human nature. Not after the coming of the Holy Spirit; His reign suppressed, all the ruler of this world. He was once again reinstated as the Lord, God and master of human race. Thus Satan, who once ruled the world, was overthrown.
For God to overthrow sin and Satan in our lives required the participation of human will of which God would respect.
If the sinful spirit overpowered the pure nature and spirit, then the freewill would act in slavery; which means that even though the conscience was activated, to righteous judgement, yet it could not act accordingly. For darkness and evil had gotten hold and enchained us, into slavery. As the flesh and human spirit were enslaved; thus the souls suffered, as nutrition from God, could not be channeled to them. Instead the Devil pushes all forms of 'junk' food and starves the souls.
Therefore, always ask God to let the triumph of the souls, be that of our hearts too.
The soul needed God and it would reject other form of food accept God and His Spirit.
We may push it aside, throw rubbish or dirt for it to consume, but the souls cannot be deceived. If our pure human nature and spirit are under bondage or slavery, the souls suffer drastically.
The Devil cannot destroy the life of God within us, but they can block us from the view of God.
They used various instruments that are of this world as object of blockage. Man, although how worldly wise might be; could still be deceived.
The Devil tried to make Man, the master of his own life. By deceiving them that they can live apart from God. They will try to explain God's intervention of love and chastisement, otherwise. Man, through having acquired knowledge, wisdom and understanding; might just blindly push aside God's teachings and words, as though miracles were mere coincidence. Thus instead of giving thanks, praises and glorification to God, Man sinful nature and the Devil, claimed credits. Slowly, maybe without our knowledge, worldly wisdom and spirits, began to govern, rule and be the master of our lives. This is a saturation of God's Spirit and evil spirits. Man tried to be smart to choose what they like and to ignore what they do not like. In fact, to be sincere to ourselves, Man had no choice, but to serve the purpose of our very existence. We are created, no different from our first parents. They came from soil of the earth, but we came from the flesh of our parents. Human flesh, still return to where it belongs, once we died. They are still made up of soil. The purpose of our existence all lie in God's purpose for us. We are to know, love and to serve Him, like the pure angel of God, with our hearts, souls, minds and our strength.
After sin came into the world, God sent a Redeemer, Jesus Christ. What part are we to play as partner of redemption? We need to sincerely show our support and appreciation to Jesus, for the painful death, He endured. Therefore in order to make Christ's offering of His whole life to God, worthy; required making our whole body, in unity with Christ, as a living sacrifice to God. It requires us to participate, in Jesus' mystery of suffering. That mean, we must humbly, sincerely and gladly offer up, the various trials and suffering of our lives, as atonement for our own sins and those of the whole world.
Sin, caused the souls to scream, in pain and agony, but the sinful spirit of the flesh and Devil would try to shut up the voice of the souls, by pacifying them into accepting other inferior food. The souls desired for God, just like infant desire for mother's breast milk and tender loving care. Instead liken to a crying infant in anguish, when his demands were not satisfied, as if being kidnapped and put under babysitter's care. He was not given breast milk or held by his tender loving mother; instead handed over to a stranger and given replaced milk of inferior quality.
That was the scenario, of which our souls were sold freely to the world and the Devil. Our human lives are not what appear at surface. They are so much valuable then that. Material last as long as God allows or when natural laws of which God made for the earth and Man, were withdrawn, but not the eternal law of God and the Spirit. The law of God, divine and eternal. God never changes, so was His love for Man and His creatures.
Man may appear happy, joyful, calm and peaceful from the outside, but day and night as they tried to rest or sleep, dreams tormented their lives. During the phrase of resting, whereby the brain and body systems were put to rest and work at a slower pace, so was the freewill. At that moment of rest, acquired skill, to conceal and control our lives, once constricted, would be loosened. There are basically two natures in us; that is the pure and sinful nature. The pure human nature would graciously co-operates with God, for the good of the soul, whereas the sinful human nature, which descended from our sinful parents, or the channel of Original sin, refused God and continues to accept the Devil. Our freewill stood between these two natures. If God governs our freewill, it would work towards purification of the sinful nature, in us. Or else, what Jesus said had to come true, 'If your left eye caused you to sin, dig it out, for it is better to have one eye, and enters heaven, than to have both eyes, then enter into hell. If your left hand, caused you to sin, chopped it off, etc.' These are not physical actions, but rather spiritual. If our sinful natures were allowed to control our lives, and its will, then they would try to enslave the pure human nature. By this what our pure human nature desires were forsaken and ignored, but not the sinful natures. Our conscience, like 'dim or weak' eyes to the souls, hearts and mind, became blunt and ineffective.
In situation, when our physical bodies and minds, relaxes, so too our human will; the result of various spiritual battles, which had great and significant impacts on our lives, would be revealed. The spirits and souls, never rested, unless, under the arms of God its source of life and origin. The souls will continue to be listless, under the enslavement of the Devil. All these would be exposed in nightmares and dreams. The battles of various enslaving spirits, souls, as God awaits, our freewill to make decision, disturb peaceful rest and sleep.
Instead of seeking the owner and doctor of the souls and spirits; Man usually seek for other sources as remedies and healing. By their actions, their souls suffering would even be aggravated and increased.
Jesus said that He is the true shepherd, all others are hired and do not care for His sheep. This means that others, who took the place of God and His Spirit, would be thieves and robbers, if they tried to act in favor of their human will and spirit, without the full participation of God.
Holy men and women, consecrated by God, in various roles, in the vineyard of the Lord, must know; they were merely instruments of God. As instruments, we need to ask God to make us worthy, so that what graces that He wish to give through us to others, would not be diluted with sins. We cannot possibly saturate God's wisdom and man's wisdom as food, for Jesus' sheep. We cannot possibly give Jesus' sheep the water of the earth, instead of pure, unsaturated water from God's throne alone. This mean that we cannot apply acquired wisdom, except those that comes from God, to administer to God's children.
Throughout the history of Man, expert in various fields, concerning the wellbeing of the body, mind and spirit had emerged. God had used them as instruments to restore the health of human body, yet they were certain that the height of their wisdom couldn't challenge the will of God. Miracles had happened to their amazement. There are those who claimed to have power over various energies of the body. The positive and negative energies. How to exert the mind, so to overpower and in control of the negative energy, which caused various sickness of the body and mind. These were some of the ways, whereby evil are at work to detach us from God, so to be independent. Therefore, instead of seeking God as physician of the body, mind, soul and spirit, we seek, what we call, the wisdom of the world and man.
Judgement came to the world when they chose to condemn and reject Jesus.
Jesus did not come into this world to find fault with Man, but to love and save them.
Jesus was indeed the source of compassion. He came down from His splendid throne of joy; glory, majesty and love, to be one with Man. Jesus wanted to experience what Man experiences. The fifteen mysteries of the Rosary, highlighted Jesus' journey with Man; the joy, sorrow and the glory.
The joyful mysteries depict the joy of human lives, when they lived in union with God, in submission and trust. The sorrowful mysteries express the necessities of carrying our cross and follow Jesus. Suffering in union with Jesus, became a mystery of purification and redemption on a personal basis and as community. We could unite with Christ Jesus, in His mystery of suffering and the cross to gain merit or graces for our souls and those of the world. The glorious mysteries of the Rosary manifest to us the glorious rewards that await us when we had journey, in unity with God, through Jesus Christ. The reward shall be eternal life, which begins, right here on earth, after our personal conversion to Christ. Eternal life is a free gift brought about through the death of Jesus Christ. We would be blessed with the ability to experience it, while still veiled by sins and the flesh, through a personal conversion to Christ Jesus. God thirsts or desires to walk intimately with Man, therefore He sent Jesus Christ, so that we could fearlessly approach Him and invite Him to make His 'home', in our hearts and lives. 'Make His home' means that Jesus, does not want to be a redundant guest in our lives, but a servant to God's Children. He wants to make His way, right into the core of our lives; that is the soul and spirit, so that He could redeem and save them. The triumphs of the souls and spirits, once they met, were indescribable. The tears of purification and love, just roll, ceaselessly down, through our eyes. The hearts start leaping in joy, liken to a child and a father reunion, in the parable of the prodigal son. This expressed the height of all human and spiritual joy, which no words could possibly, described.
He wanted to feel as Man would feel. He wanted to suffer with Man. He wanted to share in even the consequence of Man's sin. Later on He wanted to absorb the sin of Man, to Himself and released them all at the 'foot' of the cross, on Mount Calvary. He wanted to throw back the sins and the Devil back to hell. Darkness had no place in the Kingdom of God. It was the 'color of the Devil'. Just like the Dragon was cast down from heaven to be eternally separated, so too God, through Jesus Christ, would deliver us from the darkness of the Devil. That was the reward of the death of Jesus Christ, which He did not keep for Himself, but share it with all God's Children.
Jesus answered, "The light will be among you a little longer. Continue on your way while you have the light, so that the darkness will not come upon you; for the one who walks in the dark does not know where he is going.
Believe in the light, then, while you have it, so that you will be the people of the light."
Jesus was trying to remind the disciples, to truly appreciate what they had then. They were indeed blessed to be able to see Jesus person to person.
For Jesus would be with them a little bit longer after that He would depart from them. Jesus told them to 'continue on your way while you have the light'. Just like the episode of Jesus' encounter with Peter and the disciples, after the feeding of five thousands; they were rocked hard, by the winds, waves and the storms. Jesus put Peter's faith to the test. He succeeded to walk for a while on the water towards Jesus, but sank after his faith failed Him. He feared the winds, waves and the storm. If He had not, but just trust in Jesus; he would had finished his journey, ending at Jesus' side.
Jesus at the critical moments of His Life seeks for trust in His disciples. If they had that enormous faith, they surely would not have abandoned Jesus to struggle alone, till His last breath. After His death, He was left hanging on the Cross alone, except accompanied by John and His mother, together with a few women. The huge crowd of supporters all vanished from His sight, except a handful of silent faithless, who feared for their lives. All the power and authorities that He had manifested were overshadowed by His human limitation. This was moment when the power of darkness was allowed to rule. They out of fear, for their own lives and safety; never had the opportunity to have a close-up witness of Jesus uttering His last words of departure.
'So that darkness will not come upon you'. If their faith had not weakened, when the winds, waves and storm hid the boats, Peter and the disciples would not have allowed Jesus to suffer alone. Faith crippled the power of darkness, or the work of evil spirit.
'For the one who walks in the dark does not know where he is going'. Yes! That is the fact of life, concerning the physical and spiritual. If our spiritual sight is bad, or blind, even though our physical eyesight is good, still could not see spiritually, our direction. We need to be honest and ponder deeply, so to do justice to our lives. We must ask and be sincere about it, 'Where we came from? Where are we now? Finally where or which direction are we heading after this earthly life is over?' The light of which Jesus is telling them about is not physically seen, but spiritually. This Light came from its source, that is God alone. All others might just be instruments or objects for the transmission of this Light.
God channels His light through His Consecrated Instruments may they be, Peter and his successor, Apostles and their successors or any lay people of which, He had every right to choose.
'Believe in the light, then, while you have it, so that you will be the people of the light'.
The light is God. Jesus reminded the disciples that He is the Light of the world. For Jesus is God. He came not merely as transmission of Light, but He Himself is light. After Jesus died, His human body would not be physically seen, unless God allowed Him to appear for a purpose. The disciples would not be able to see Jesus, who is the Light, after that, but people of all nation, shall be able to claim Jesus as their own, when He sent forth His Spirit. His Spirit dwelling in Man draws them all to God.
'People of the light'. Children drawn by Jesus, through His Spirit, would be called people of the light. His disciple had the privilege, to experience the presence of God, through Jesus Christ. Jesus was hoping that the disciples would continue to have God in their lives. Jesus reminded that the miracles and power that He manifested was God's own power, not His human's ability. Therefore Jesus was trying to draw them to God, through Him. For it was God Himself who love them. For it was God who loves us first, thus He sent forth Jesus Christ, to be our Lord and Savior. Jesus as a human being was grateful to God, on behalf of mankind, even though He had to go through the depth of agony and paid the penalty for our sins. As man, on behalf of us all, He gives glory to God and magnified His Holy Name.
Who is this Son of Man?"
The Jewish people knew that the Messiah as promised by God, would never die.
How come Jesus predicted His death, resurrection, ascension into heaven, then descend of the Holy Spirit, to draw mankind to Him?
Who is this Jesus, who called Himself, the 'Son of Man'?
He was rightly the Son of Man. 'The'; signified that there shall only be one Son of Man. Yes! Indeed! Jesus is the only Son of Man, born of a pure and perfect mother. From His mother, who was perfect and holy, came the physical body, which stores His human nature; just as spotless and perfect as His mother. Yet! This perfect body of Jesus was conceived of God. The Holy Spirit came and fertilized the ovary of Mary, in a mysterious manner, bringing about the conception of an embryo, that had perfect combination of human and divine nature. In this embryo, was God and Man's, in perfect unity. This was called 'Incarnation of God into Man'. This fetus would grew and born into this world as the perfect Mary and God. He was called Jesus, meaning God saves.
His human nature as Son of Man, continues to serve His own kind. He came, not to judge, but to salvage the 'Lost Sheep of the House of Israel'. We, too are the lost sheep of the house of Israel, although we are not Jews, or descendents of the patriarchs. It was through, rebirth, by participating in Christ's death and resurrection that we are one with the lost sheep of the people of Israel, of which Jesus came for.
During the intense moments of His trial, while He was tempted, by the Devil, of which treasure of the world were being offered to His human flesh; yet none could tempt or lure Him away from the cross and persecution. Finally the 'Agony in the Garden', was His most painful and lonely test, which God put on human Jesus. He could refuse the 'cup of which His Father was offering Him'. That means, He could continue on His journey as another human being, and reject God and the cross. Even the vision of the cross, which did not mean only death; but great humiliation, pain, mental, physical and spiritual torment, would be inflicted on Him, could not distract Him, from drinking the 'bitter cup'.
His human heart, mind, soul and spirit were dying to save His dying 'Bride'. All He looked forward was the hour of glory, which His death would bring. He embraced all man, irrespective of races as His very own 'Bride'. His 'Bride' continued to be unfaithful and thoughtlessly betrayed Him.
Prophet Hosea was chosen to be a sign of God: His mercy and compassion. God said to Hosea, "Go and get married; your wife will be unfaithful, and your children will be just like her" (Hosea 1:2), "Go again and show your love for a woman who is committing adultery with a lover. You must love her just as I still love the people of Israel, even though they turn to other gods and like to take offerings of raisins to idols" (Hosea 3:1). Man since the fall, had been unfaithful towards God. We were made for God and to worship Him, but man had chosen God's creation or created objects as god or goddesses of their lives. That was how men had made themselves unworthy of the death of Jesus.
Why and how can we make worthy the death of Jesus?
We need to make Christ's death worthy for us, because it was the will of Jesus to rescue all, despite of our unredeemable debt. Jesus is not asking us to replace everything, which we had stolen from God, by cheating on one of our kind, but He is merciful and compassionate, yet He must not be made into our fool. For we cannot fool God, but when we thought we could, we had fooled ourselves. We are made for Him and to worship Him, with our whole hearts, souls and mind. This was to benefit us, not diminished us, making us into slaves. For Jesus Christ Himself was a perfect example of the servant, towards His brothers and sisters, under purification. We in this world and after are journeying toward Christ's perfection.
Praise the Lord. Amen.
