The legend began many years ago, it was in the month of February, in fact it was over the valentines day weekend if I recal. So accompanied by an Prussion aristo and a builder from the garden of England (Kent), that we travelled east in search of the grail, with a basic command of the lingo we ventured forth into the depths of rural France in search of accomodation, for our summer expedition.
After many little adventures and a picnic by the side of the road at minus 5 degrees C., so cold the cheese went brittle. We sourced what we came in search of ( a huge Gite that sleeps 30) and returned to blighty victorious.
However during this mini pilgramage the motley fellows did happen apon a very nice french motel chain the 'Campanile' - most recomended and can be booked through a UK call centre - fantastic! Anyaway as well as simplistic bookings and a warm, clean room these motels also have a resterant attached with a rather interesting menu with many eat as much as you can buffet options - Oh yes you can guess whats coming next. So after a buffet starter, a choice of main course we proceeded to the pudding course where a challenge was laid down. As well as sampling every dish on the display the bowl of real chocolate mouse was the challenge. Now bear in mind that this is not the cheap stuff from little plastic pots you find in Tesco but the real McCoy and we are talking in excess of a kilo of cocoa solid loaded sugar rush heaven. Needless to say the scotsman stepped up to the mark and did not fail in the mission - The Chocolate Moose was born and the rest is History. |
