| Melilot "Meli" Danderfluff was born in Hobbiton, the Shire on the 27th of Astron (18th April), 1374. She was the only child bore to Myrtle Goodbody and Fredegar Danderfluff of Bywater. Myrtle was quite a talented dressmaker and often enough, young lasses went to her for their special-occasion dresses. She was one of very few, actually able to embroider flowers and leaves with the rare golden strands of such pretty girls and make ordinary brown shine like copper in the sunlight. Fredegar was a veterinarian who was quite well-known throughout Hobbiton, Bywater, and Frogmorton, for he had saved the life of hundreds of stray kittens by setting them up in boarding at his little office until every single one of them was adopted. But sadness soon swallowed the Danderfluff family, for when Meli was only three years of age, her Ma died of a fever, and her Da passed soon thereafter, to which some say was a broken heart. 'Twas at this time in the little Hobbit's life that she started to live with her grandfather, Berilac Goodbody, at #3 Overhill Street, Hobbiton, West Farthing, only to lighten up his life even more with her sweetness and entertaining company. From the very beginning, Meli was a gem in the eyes of those she passed, for she is one of very little, with golden curls in abundance, brown eyes like a doe's, and a petite figure (now only reaching 3'1"!). If 'twas not for her perpetual kindness to all living things as well (save for maybe spiders and snakes), she may well be recognized for her mellifluous singing voice. "Much like honey", is the reaction you would get from those acquainted with her. In her free time, Meli enjoys singing, creating poem and songs, daydreaming, caring for animals (must have gotten that from her Da), researching her geneology like any other fine Hobbit, but most of all, making others happy! But beware, she is quite a clumsy girl, all cack-handed, and 'tis most likely wise to keep your valuables locked in the cupboard when she comes to call! Along with her clumsiness, which she inherited from her Grandpa, she dislikes spiders, cooking, thunder and lightning storms, loneliness, being bossed around, and going unnoticed. She's a sensitive lass after all, and she expects to be treated fairly, for that is the proper thing to do. Meli doesn't exactly have one occupation, but a few occasional jobs. She enjoys helping Collette Took and her dear husband at their bookshop in Bywater (the Curious Corner), as well as entertaining the customers and cleaning at the Leaftop Tavern where her best friend Lena Leaftop is barmaid. She is not yet attached to any one Gentle-Hobbit, for she is still young, but she quite admires Sappi Leaftop, Lena's younger brother, who she has known since she was a wee'un. 'Tis with Sappi and Lena whom she longs to travel to distant places with where she can meet new faces, but if she was never allowed the chance to travel, she would always be happy in the Shire, where she could be with ALL of her friends and her good ole' Grandpa. |
