To My Dad A gentle man o little words A smile for a' he'd meet He'd shak yer haun And wish ye weel He'd niver mak me greet On our wee croft, near Aberdeen In spring he'd aye be plantin In summer time, the stookies dry The lord he wid be thankin I mind him weel in wintertime Trudging thru the snow Makin sure the road to school Wis safe for me to go On Friday nichts, when he'd come hame A treat there aye wid be A bonny floo'er for Mum he'd bring And a Twinkle jist for me These memories may fade at times Since I've lang moved awa But a smell or sound will bring them back And mind me o my Da Its mony years since I've been hame I keep these memories true Altho ye never got to hear But ye ken that I love you |
