What is WEEKdays
?

WEEKdays stands for Women Encouraging Excellence in Kids.  It begain in 1999 as the education budget cuts were hurting kids who were borderline or who needed extra help and couldn't get it.  It is propelled by university student volunteers who want to give back to the community a little of what they have received.  Everyone is enriched in the process, not only the high school students who are tutored.

Where is WEEKdays  located?          map

Click on the link for a complete calendar of dates for the current school year.  Tutoring sessions take place each semester while regular classes are going on for the University of Toronto:  approximately September-December and January to April.  There is not tutoring during the U of T's Reading Week.

How are students accepted into the Program?
All students are accepted on a first-come first serve basis.  They are accepted according to the course codes they request, not their actural grade.    For example, a Grade 12 student can be tutored in Grade 10 or 11 Math, but a Grade 11 student does nto qualify for a Grade 12 English course.
Returning students are accepted automatically and are placed  first depending on the availability of tutors.
Applicants are screened within 48 hours of reception, and their status is confirmed withing 3 working days.  Normally have their first tutoring session within 1-3 weeks of applying.  The last day students are accepted into the program is February 28th of each year.

Do the students have to pay?
Absolutely not.

Where do tutors come from
?
Most tutors are students from the Unversity of Toronto.  They are screened  and matched by an experienced teacher with Special Ed. Specialist qualifications.  All tutoring is done on site in a small hall under visual supervision.

What other staff does WEEKdays have
?
     A
Program Manager oversees the entire program and liasons with PEV, the not-for-profit society that provides the tutoring space rent-free.       The site coordinator supervises assures the smooth running of daily activities and keeps an attendance record.
A qualified teacher acts as an
