In January, ABC’s show ALIAS kicked of its fourth season. The first three seasons managed to pull off a unique twist on the very common genre of spy dramas. Alias centers itself around a man named Rambaldi and his followers. Rambaldi was from centuries before, yet made accurate prophesies about things in the future. Followers, like Arvin Sloane, use evil methods to find out Rambaldi's endgame. Exciting subplots, however, are what carry the show. Backstabbing is always a favorite choice of the writers of the show. Every season has you wondering where everyone’s true loyalty is. Also, the romance between Sydney (Jennifer Garner) and Michael Vaughn (Michael Vartan) lighten up the mood when a bomb has ten seconds before it detonates.
The most recent season got off to a slow start for longtime Alias fans. However, with the season at its halfway mark, things are gaining speed rapidly. Never failing to amaze us with clever twists, director Abrams is always coming up with ideas no one could have seen coming. If you have yet to watch the show, the first three seasons have already been released on DVD. They are worth a purchase or at least a rent.
