The lights went down and the crowd cheered but when Jimmy Eat World's set was supposed to begin, all that was on stage was a single static filled TV. You could hear the instruments in the background and then lead singer Jim Adkins began to sing. Slowly, all the band members were visible and Jimmy Eat World played their first of many songs. And this was just the beginning to a great night at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence, RI. Before Jimmy Eat World began playing, the opening band, The Format, played a solid set. After Jimmy's first song, they went into a real rocker off of their last album, Bleed American. only question was whether or not Taking Back Sunday could match Jimmy Eat World's set. Well, that question was answered within minutes of Taking Back Sunday's set. TBS began with a song from their latest CD, Where You Want to Be and they immediately had the crowd in the plam of their hand. TBS was extremely energetic and played with true passion. They played almost every song from their new album and played four or five from their previous CD, Tell All Your Friends. Obviously the crowd came for TBS, everyone in the crowd was into them for their whole set. From beginning to end, Taking Back Sunday was the better band. Last Saturday was a great night for music, moshing and fun. As we were repeatedly told by all three bands, we were a great crowd. All three bands were wonderful, TBS was simply the best. Even if you've never heard of these bands, you must listen to them. It was just a great rock show. -Written by Jesse |
