Celtics' Draft Review
the fourth quarter. The veterans have obviously helped them get where they are but they couldn't have done it without the kids. Ryan Gomes hasn't played in all of the C's games, but when he has played, he has been pretty effective. Against the Spurs on Friday, Gomes played in 19 minutes, mostly garbage time, but he scored nine points and grabbed a rebound. Gomes won't be a star this year but in the C's future, Gomes will be big.
Like Gomes, Orien Greene hasn't played all that much and like Gomes, Greene won't be winning the Rookie of the Year Award. But like Gomes, Orien Greene will be a big part of the Celtics' future. Their first round draft pick, Gerald Green, is inactive and may play in the NBA's Developement League. Green has big potential coming out of high school but time will tell how much of an NBA player he will be.
The Celtics' three rookies will not lead this team to the NBA Finals this year, the Celtics won't get there this year. If the young guys, including last year's draft picks, play as well as they can, this Celtics team will go deep in the playoffs in future years.

  The Boston Celtics had a relatively good season in last year. Gary Payton was a welcome addition to the team and the Antoine Walker trade was a big boost to the team. The other big helpers last year were the young guys, Tony Allen, Delonte West, Marcus Banks and Al Jefferson stepped up in a big way to help the C's make the playoffs. This year, the Celtics brought in Providence College's all time leading scorer, Ryan Gomes, to help at the forward position. Also, they chose Orien Greene after Gomes and he is taking turns with Dan Dickau as the first point guard off of the bench.
The Celtics' record would show that they are a bad team, but at 2-3, four of their five games have come down to
