On Tuesday, February 22, a Sports Illustrated columnist wrote online that Iowa State was a sleeper team that could make some noise in the NCAA tournament. Well, that same night, Iowa State lost to Texas A&M by 16 points. Iowa State had won seven straight against elite teams such as Kansas and Texas. This has pretty much been the story of the 2004-2005 NCAA Basketball season with more upsets than usually occur in two seasons. Two Thursday's ago, the Duke Blue Devils, a basketball program that has had more than five straight 20 win seasons, lost to a mediocre Virginia Tech team. |
