On Tuesday, February 22, a Sports Illustrated columnist wrote online that Iowa State was a sleeper team that could make some noise in the NCAA tournament. Well, that same night, Iowa State lost to Texas A&M by 16 points. Iowa State had won seven straight against elite teams such as Kansas and Texas.
This has pretty much been the story of the 2004-2005 NCAA Basketball season with more upsets than usually occur in two seasons. Two Thursday's ago, the Duke Blue Devils, a basketball program that has had more than five straight 20 win seasons, lost to a mediocre Virginia Tech team.

There isn't a team that is safe in the NCAA this year and it seems that every team has a big win against a top team. Oklahoma State, number four in the country, lost on Tuesday to Nebraska. Oklahoma State was probably going to be a number one seed in the NCAA tournament but nothing is definite this year.
My picks this week for the Final Four are North Carolina, Illinois, Boston College and despite the tough loss, Oklahoma State.
