Arewa Threatens INEC of Boycott of Voters Registration
The northern elite group,
Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) Tuesday, June 2, threatened to boycott the voters’ registration exercise unless the Independent National Commission (INEC) reviews the current rules for the exercise and postpone it to a later date.
The Secretary General of the ACF and former Governor of Kaduna State, Col. Hameed Ibrahim Ali said in a letter to INEC that like other Nigerians, the ACF felt concerned that the procedure adopted by the electoral commission was strange and unprecedented and
would make it hard for a large proportion of the population to get registered as voters.
He said the north would boycott the registration exercise if the INEC fails
to agree with the ACF demands.
