History of the Piltdown Foundation, Ltd.
The Piltdown Foundation, Ltd. was founded in 1909 in a small house originally owned by a 17th groundskeeper at Cardiff-on-Pennypack, just west of Wales in the United Kingdom.  It's founder, Lew
Thronthwaite, historian and amateur cricketer, found great dissatisfaction in the way history was presented in many parts of the world.  "Too many holes, not enough plugs!" he was to say about the state of education in the world.  This simple statement became both the motto and the mission of the Piltdown Foundation, Ltd.
From the very beginning, Thronthwaite was a source of controversy among the intelligencia.  His first foray into the fray, "The Shakespeare Deception", caused waves among the conventional thinkers of the day.  In this study, Thronthwaite found evidence that Shakespeare did  not write the plays attributed to him.  He claimed that they were, in fact,

written by Mary, Queen of Scots, who wrote them while held in the Tower of London.  He had original drafts, in Mary's handwriting, that he discovered at a Green Tree Library Sale in 1907, at Stoke-on-Trent.
In spite of overwhelming evidence, Thronthwaite's claims fell on deaf ears and several restraining orders.
It was this kind of research, dedication and veracity that attracted some of Europe's, and, later, America's most unique thinkers to the Foundation, Ltd.  Soon, great minds began to swell the ranks, with such luminarites as:
