D-n-J Poultry; Chickens
We order about 30 chicks every February from Mc Murray Hatchery
in Webster City, IA. I have done very well with their birds. We currently have about 25 birds, with
about 15 different breeds! We have bantams and standard sizes, from Rosecombs to Brahmas, Cochins
to Andalusians, and Dorkings to Leghorns! I have my laying birds in my chicken coop, which is 8ft X 12ft.
It has perches in back, and ten nest boxes at one side. On average I get 12 eggs a day, most of which
are brown, as I only have three hens that lay white eggs.

I show them at several shows and fairs. The best bird I have ever had was a Black Rosecomb Cockerel. He won Grand Champion at two shows, first at state, and champion rosecomb at another show. Unfortunatly he got killed 07.

The chickens are one of my favorite animals on the farm. I love getting eggs everyday and raising chicks in spring. Here are other breeds of chickens we have.
In 2007 I got seven white leghorn bantams, and until I get my 2008 chicks they are my only chickens.
