“Thanks for taking me to dinner, Brian,” Miriam says to Brian as he’s driving, “I had a great time with you tonight.”
“I did too,” Brian replies, “oh hey, is this the turn?”
“Yeah! Turn left.”
The car stops as Miriam’s house appears. Brian looks to the other side of the road, “hm, looks like Rivers is not asleep yet,” he looks back to Miriam. She’s giving him a do-we-care-about-rivers-cuomo-right-now-look. “geez, I’m sorry,” Brian says with a smile as Miriam undoes her seat belt.
“Ok, Brian, I guess we’ll call it a night.”
“Alright,” Brian replies with innocence in his voice. Miriam leans over and gives him a peck on his cheek. Brian then lingers his fingers in her hair… -she’s gotta go, you know…- “um, see ya later then.”
“Right, bye.” Miriam says with her face redder than a monkey’s ass. She rushes out of the car and rushes into her house.
Brian just sits there and starts to think about what has just happened. He is pretty sure that he’s not going to get anywhere with Miriam because everyone can see how much Rivers likes her. He starts to recall the night…
“The thing with Rivers,” she slowly says, “he is so… good, and perfect, that, everyone will like him. He’ll fall in love with everyone too. And, I guess… I…”
“Don’t feel too secured when you’re with him?”
“Exactly, exactly…” A pause. “He is quite handsome, nice, funny… He’s everything a girl wants… and now that he is famous…”
“I understand. Kinda going through that too.”
Miriam laughs for a bit and says, “aw, Brian.” She flashes him an admiring smile, “How about yourself? Girlfriends, groupies…?”
“Nah, I’m not that kinda person.” He replies, “as in… groupies, not that I don’t like girls.” He laughs at himself for trying to explains and just looks so stupid right now…
Miriam gives a light chuckle. They spent the rest of dinner talking about… Rivers. How Rivers can be aggressive when it comes to things that he cares. They also share many funny stories they’ve had over the years with Rivers, the good times and the bad times.
Brian returns to reality and thinks maybe he’ll pay Rivers a visit. He can still see the light in his living room is still on.
The door bell rings and after a while the door slowly opens. –what should I say to him? I’m not going to tell him that Miriam kissed me, right?… I…--
“Oh, hey Brian,” Rivers says with a huge grin on his face, “I kind of knew that you would come since I saw your car coming.”
“Oh yeah?” Brian smiles while thinking, “Shit, I hope he didn’t see me and Miriam in the car and stuff…”
“So anyways… How was dinner? Did Mim say anything like… regarding me and her…?” Rivers ask eagerly.
“Well… we were talking about you the whole night.”
“Really?” Rivers is getting really excited about it, “What did she say about me? Did she say that she has already fallen hard for my strikingly good looks and unavoidable charms?”
“Errmm… not exactly?” Brian can see that Rivers looks disappointed, “But… She did tell me that…”
“What what what??”
“She did tell me that you peed your pants in 5th grade when you guys went to the zoo and saw kangaroos… ‘doing it’…” Brian starts to laugh hysterically while Rivers makes a few angry groans. “It’s so funny. We shared all these stories about you…” Brian laughs again.
“Looks like you guys had some great fun…”
“Yeah, it was actually hella good. I think MY unavoidable charms were working their asses off.” Brian detects jealousy in Rivers’ eyes. “But then… yeah.”
Awkward silence…
“Anyways, it’s getting late. I think I’ll run home now,” says Brian.
“Yeah, sure, man.” Rivers replies, “and, thanks, too”
“No prob. I’ll see you tomorrow in the studio?”
“Right. G’night.”
Brian walks out of the house, closes the door, and sees the lights going off. Brian sighs and drives home.
