Friends:

I am married to my beautiful wife Kelly. If you want to see our picture together, check out the one from a college band trip.

My good high school friend Andrew Ho now lives in California. Visit his huge collection of Mish the Fish stuff or find out everything you could ever know about HP Calculators. Check it out...kind of cool.

Todd Burch is now a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force.  He has a great journal of the challenges he faced in OTS.  If you are curious about what joining the modern day Air Force is like, check out his site.

Bands:

Of course, the Purdue "All American" Marching Band is my personal favorite.

Now that I've graduated from Purdue, I play in the Glenview Concert Band, a part of the Glenview Park District.

The Big Ten conference has eleven top notch bands. Check them out along with others from around the country at the UC-Davis Marching Band list.

The brothers of the Upsilon chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi from the University of Cincinnati Band have compiled the Marching Band Compendium. It contains details on virtually every college band in the nation.

Military Bands are often excellent and fun to hear and watch. Here are the web sites for some of the best out there.

"The President's Own" United States Marine Band,
Washington, D.C.
United States Army Band (Pershing's Own)
Washington, D.C.
United States Coast Guard Band, New London, CT United States Air Force Band, Washington, D.C.
United States Navy Band, Washington, D.C. Other U.S. Air Force Bands at the Air Force Bands page, including:
Air Force Band of the Reserves
U.S. Air Force Band of Mid America
U.S. Air Force Heritage Band
Other U.S. Navy Bands at the Navy Bands webpage

Sports:

Sports Illustrated.

The Chicago Cubs homepage.

Check out MLB results from around the country.

Sports and scores are important in the Big Ten conference. Our football and basketball teams are all a lot of fun to watch. We even went to the Alamo Bowl twice (1998,99) -- first bowl appearance since 1984 -- the Outback Bowl (2000-01), the Rose Bowl (2001-02), the Sun Bowl (2001 & 2002), and the Capitol One Bowl (formerly Citrus Bowl) (2003-04)

Here is a way to keep track of who is on top: USA TODAY or ESPN, with up-to-the-minute college basketball or football.

For one of the newer sports leagues, check out the WNBA and ESPN's coverage of news and scores. You can follow Purdue favorites in the women's game.

Boy Scouts and Order of the Arrow:

If you like to collect or trade patches check out this troop in Maryland.

You can learn cool things from Boy Scouts. How about knots, knots, and more knots, or Dutch Oven Cooking.

How about the information on the OA straight from the Boy Scouts of America?

Wow, Troop 486, in Durham, NC is really involved with this WWWeb stuff. Check out their cache of BSA info - plus tons of great links.

And of course we can't forget our neighbors to the north; check out Scouts Canada.

Finally, what collection of Scout memorabilia would be complete without a gallery of Norman Rockwell art? Enjoy!

Literary Links:

I like to read and I think literature is cool.

The classics are full of valuable stuff. For example, Shakespeare was great at finding the perfect insult for any occasion. Here is a collection of Shakespearean insults; all you could ever need.

See Alice, the Jabberwock, and the Walrus at this Lewis Carroll site.

I enjoy techno-thrillers and one of my favorite authors is Tom Clancy; another is Stephen Coonts - his books are the ones that actually got me started in the genre.

Ernest Hemingway is another favorite.

John Irving is very good too -- he writes excellent "contemporary classics." Check out his A Prayer for Owen Meany, Setting Free the Bears, The 158-Pound Marriage, The Cider House Rules, A Widow For One Year, along with several others, all published by Random House, Inc..

Music Links:

I like to listen to They Might Be Giants and jazz.

The greatest jazz and be-bop Trombonist has far and away been the late J.J. Johnson.

The relaxed and airy style of Chuck Mangione's flugelhorn (a what?!) is always fun to hear.

I also like the soothing and cutting edge sounds of Mannheim Steamroller.

Wynton Marsalis is one of the hottest trumpeters there is, in all different genres. I love his work. Check it out.

Maynard Ferguson is still "one cool cat" and no one can screech like this man. Look around his site.

My Grandfather, Tom Swatzell, was Mr. Dobro.  He left us in 2002, but his music lives on in the bluegrass realm.

And, of course I love the sounds of the Purdue "All American" Marching Band.

Trombones come in various shapes and sizes.  Here are some interesting ones: Tenor Trombone, Bass Trombone, Contrabass Trombone, Soprano Trombone, and Maynard Ferguson's Superbone (by Holton)

 Musicals are also entertaining

Amusement Parks: (cool)

I like amusement parks, especially ones with Roller Coasters, although Kelly doesn't particularly care for coasters (we still ride "spinny rides" together). Some of them are now online. Try:

Want Traffic and Weather together? ... Right now? Check these out, they're good.

NASA is a really cool place to visit. Check out all their info along with sites at various labs around the country.
