So who am I anyway?

me at niagra falls Well that's me on the left.. umm.. I hope it's on the left... and if you want to see a larger and slightly more recent picture then just click on that one.

I'm a student, in the finalyear of my PhD - and am up to my eyeballs in papers and literature and research planning. I'll possibly be making a more 'professional' page or two, detailing my research, so look out for that.

Before I started here, I spent 8 months or so temping, mainly at other universities, in Teaching Offices and such like. Working as an administrator has taught me a lot about the "other side" of university life. Students - be nice to your departmental secretaries! :)

An old update on my past student days - I have a Master of Research degree in Advanced Instrumentation Systems, and a B.Sc Speech Sciences. This 4 year course qualified me to work as a Speech and Language Therapist, and really started off my research interests... I still am interested in finding ways to link my clinical experience with new technological developments in instrumentation, such as the speech pattern audiometer.

I am a musician of sorts.. I studied flute for over ten years, but now tend to play flute, piccolo, tin whistle and recorders for various acoustic bands who want me... in the recent past, these have included Sublime, Billy Penn's Brother, an international tour with Terry Gonda , and a one off impromptu appearance with Indigo Girls in London. I also play guitar and write some songs... but very few people ever get to hear them!

In the past, I've spent many a fun evening working on the Bob Harris Show Bob can now be heard on Radio 2 as well, from 11pm til 1am Saturday night - check out his wonderful page for updates.

So now you know a bit about me, you can find out what I like.. Go from here to look at my interests, or the music page, or Lesbian Resources or News-y resources or visit my friends.
