In February 1999 I attended the international TIMSS-R Conference in Casablanca, Morocco as the U.S. delegate from the National Science Foundation.

TIMSS-R Helsinki 2000

I was a participant in the TIMSS-R (Third International Math and Science Study) conference in Helsinki, Finland (August 13 - 18, 2000). Earlier that year, I participated in TIMSS-R meetings in Morocco and Malaysia. The purpose of the study was to see how well students at the 4th, 8th and final year of high school do in math and science in participating countries. The U.S. fared less well than many would expect, scoring in just about in the middle.
