Of all the personalities within the system, the silent ones are arguably the most misunderstood. It seems that the other, more active alters -- the ones with the most visibility -- are more readily embraced by the outsiders. Admittedly, this system's contact with outsiders is limited, but a pattern is developing. A pattern which needs to be form-fitted to the truth and not to what appears to be truth.
The Protectors have been accepted with open arms. The Inner Children are doted upon and lavished with attention. The Others, YTBD (Yet To Be Defined), seem to have no difficulty in gaining acceptance. Their roles are clear-cut. Their position in the system is well-defined. Yet, what about the ones with so much to say, but with no voice to speak? Are they any less important? Are their duties any less constructive to the system?
No. The answer is a resounding, "No."
The Silent Ones are the facets of personality who bear the pain, the shame, the emotions that would cripple the system. Should these long-suffering entities release their burdens all at once, the system could not survive. As time goes by, they believe they will be able to relinquish their hold on these vile secrets, but only a little at a time.
Just as the stong, angry Protectors, the Silent Ones are there to protect the system.
In truth, we are all here to protect the system.

It seems that coming out of the closet is very much in vogue these days. Suddenly, no one is ashamed of who they really are. What has become of our society of Victorian thinkers? Have we been liberated? If wrong was wrong in the past, what makes it right now? Perhaps wrong wasn't really so wrong, after all.
