Synopsis: The 150th anniversary issue - transported back in time, Iron Man and King Arthur take on Dr Doom and Morgana Le Fay in the mystical land of Camelot. Observations: This story is far superior to the parallel version 100 issues later (#250) which simply seems like a bad parody. Iron Man hates sorcery - not a surprise after numerous encounters with the Mandarin. Iron Man makes use of the martial arts skills learnt from Captain America - this time he tries it out on a dragon - a bit of a step up from the scientists in #126. Morgana Le Fay looks rather better looking than she is often portrayed in films. She is also called Morgana here, not 'Morgan' as in later comic books (such as The Avengers: The Morgan Conquest) Tony Stark manages to score with one of King Arthur's courtiers. Isn't he still seeing Bethany though, even though she's off in Germany? Patronising lines: Dr Doom continually refers to Iron Man as "Lackey" Sadism: Dr Doom leaves one of King Arthur's maidens in a catatonic state. Morgana Le Fay rescuscitates the dead soldiers previously killed in battle by King Arthur - can't they rest in peace? |
