Synopsis: Part 7 of the Alcohol storyline. With Tony Stark captured, Jim Rhodes with a lot of  explaining to do for the French Police. When Tony awakes, he is greeted by Justin Hammer who explains his devious plot to sabotage the Carnelian deal and frame Iron Man, assisted by scietist, Dr Phillip Barnett. Tony is held captive but eventually escapes, destroying the armour-controlling computer in the process. Tony manages to change into Iron Man just in time to face an army of super villains.

Observations:

This is the historic first encounter between Tony Stark and Justin Hammer.

Bethany barely appears in this story - only in one brief scene, dressed as usual something revealing - it looks like a low cut white undergarment.

Tony gets to use his newly-acquired martial arts skills against a few scientists. Not exactly much
of a challenge.

There is a superb last page with a very invincible-looking Iron Man ready to face off against the super army.

Patronising lines:

"I'd like to know if this guard knows what a clavicle is?" - Tony to one of Hammer's henchmen.

"Of course. And my employer is Jacques Cousteau" - the French policeman to Jim Rhodes. when he tries to explain that his boss is Tony Stark.

Sadism:

Tony engages in quite a bit of it here. First he breaks the clavicle of one of Hammer's guards. Later he electrocutes another. Nasty stuff!

Hammer manages to bring off his usual sadism by allowing Tony to believe he has a chance to escape, only for Tony to discover Hammer's penchant for extravagant hide-aways - here, a floating Monaco villa.
