My East Rutherford, NJ 5/25/03 Review Ok this was an unexpected kind of last minute trip for me. It happened to fall on Memorial Day weekend and my friend and I usually go to New York City on the long weekends. We decided to go away this weekend and I told her that I was going to find some way for us to go see the Mac in E. Rutherford, NJ on Sunday night. My friend finds out about the bus route to The Meadowlands from her aunt who lives in NYC and I had also asked some area Ledgies for some advice. Well, my friend sees some decent tickets on Ticketmaster that Wednesday so she buys them. They were not on the floor but off to the side. I didn’t really care I was just happy to go. Friday night right after work I meet my friend at the train station in Providence and we head out for our adventurous weekend. When we arrive in NYC we just head to the apartment and we are just too tired to go anywhere so we just stay in the rest of that night. Saturday we just do some shopping nothing that exciting. We head back to get ready for our night out that starts off with dinner at the Oak Room in the Plaza Hotel. We get there around 7:30PM. I am constantly scanning the restaurant for any signs of any Mac members but see nothing so far. I can see the Oak Room Lounge from where I was sitting and about an hour later I see the back of a long haired blonde that reminded me of somebody. I tell my friend and she thinks that I am completely crazy but we decide to check it out after we finish dinner. Well, we headed in there and the lady turned sideways and it was not anyone that I thought that it might be. I was bummed. We walked around to different hotels in the area and decided to hang out in one bar but we saw nobody. On to Sunday we head out to catch the bus at the Port Authority quite early around 5PM. I wanted to get something to give to Stevie for her birthday so I found a little white bear that had a Gemini sign on it and I got a card. We then head to the gate to catch the bus. There we meet with some other fans. We all get on the Mac bus to the Meadowlands and it was quite fun. We had to wait in line for a good while before we were let in to the arena. We chatted with some nice folks from all over the world. Finally they start to let us in. I got stuck with a female security guard and she looked in my gift bag for Stevie and asks me if it’s a gift. I tell her yes and she says OK. Then she looks in my bag and pulls out my well hidden camera. She barks at me and tells me that “this has to go back in the car”. I tell this &*^%$ that I came by bus and THAT THERE IS NO CAR!! Well, %^$# had the NERVE to ask for my bus ticket. I wanted to put that ticket in a place that she would never forget!! Well, one of the fans from Europe was stopped by a male security guard and tells us OK just don’t use them or they will take them away from us. So we do get in with them after all. We grab a bite and then we head to our seats. They were a lot more over to the side then they looked on the arena map. I was a little disappointed about this but I was still happy to be there. We did have aisle seats and I was happy because I figured that I could make my way down to give Stevie the gift. Well, the band was on fire that night and my friend was really impressed with them. However, on World Turning Mick’s vest was not working and my friend was disappointed because she really likes Mick. Lindsey introduced his children who were in the audience that night. I really could not see them from where I was sitting and I kind of really did not care. Sorry. Before Landslide some of the floor sang Happy Birthday to Stevie.I could not hear that well from where I was but Stevie did make a comment about them all having nice voices. Stevie also held up her hands to flash 55. We decided to leave during Goodbye Baby. I just wanted to make sure that we caught the bus back in time. We get back to Time Square and stop to get something to eat. After we head back to the hotels we hit last night. Well, we walked into the hotel lobby and see Taku, Brett Tuggle and Neale Haywood all sitting with a bunch of other people in a circle on the couches. I see a lady sitting with them who I believe to be Sheryl Louis who is Stevie’s assistant. Well, my friend and I sit over in another area of the lobby. I could overhear them talking about the crowds reaction saying that Sunday’s show had a better reaction then Friday’s. I knew that they wouldn’t mind a huge fan like myself coming over to tell them what a great show it was but I did not go over there. I could kick myself but I really believe that if I had been alone I would have gone up to them. Oh well I would get to meet them all at a later date. So much for my stalking skills. |
