The scene where the prisoners in the jail cell are trying to get the dog to give them the keys is taken straight from the ride in Disneyland. The costumes and dog are even the same.

Johnny Depp actually had his teeth capped for the film, and kept the caps on for several months after the filming was completed in case he was called back for reshoots. He just recently had them removed, around the 4th of July.

Be sure to stay through the credits, at the end there is an interesting scene.

The scene where the pirate is chasing the maid through the streets, laughing madly, is also taken directly from the original Disney attraction.

The scene where Johnny Depp is looking for pirates for his ship and sees a man in a pile of pigs is from the ride. Although Johnny Depp is not in the ride, just the man with the pigs.

In the sword fight scene between Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom, the tattoo Orlando got while filming 'Lord of the Rings' can be seen on his right forearm when they stop for a moment and his arm is in the air, blocking Depp's sword with his own.

As revealed during several interviews with Depp and his costars, Depp based his portrayal of his character on Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards.

If I remember correctly from the trailer, an island was constantly shown that looked like a skull. While we never see a shot any whole island during the movie, when the crew of the Pearl are on the treasure island, we see a wide shot of the boat, and much of the land surrounding it. If you pay close attention, the part of the island we see appears to be a skull from the nose up, and the ship is in the left eye socket.

When Orlando comes out of his shop during the attack from the pirates he throws a small axe at the first pirate he sees. This is very similar to the throw which he watches Gimli do to save Aragorn in the Fellowship of the Ring. He saves him when Aragorn defends Frodo and then jumps from the top of that structure and orcs try to kill him.

When the two cursed pirates are acting as women on the row boat, one of them compares what they are doing to Troy, the film Orlando Bloom is going to be in with Brad Pitt in May.

Johnny Depp uses the phrase "Interesting...." as his trademark for his movies (used here when the skeletal hand tried to grab him). Watch Sleepy Hollow and others.

ack Sparrow has lots of braids and beads in his hair. If you look closely, you can see that in the posters and other merchandise, the braids are on the opposite side than they were in the film.

The pile of gold in Isla Du Muerto is taken from the very end of the Disneyland Ride and so is the scene where the wine is going through Barbosas' skeleton as he is drinking when Elizabeth finds out the curse.

Another scene taken from the Disney ride is when we FIRST (because they go back in that cave a lot) watch Will and Jack row into the cave, Will looks to the left and sees skeletons a sword and a large crab. This is about the first thing seen on the ride.

When you see the tattoo of the sparrow on Johny Depp's arm that is actual real tattoo. it represents his son who is also called Jack

At the end of the film, when Jack Sparrow and Will Turner have the spears pointed at them, it is similar to the bit in the Lord of the Rings the Two Towers when Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli have the Riders of Rohan round them, pointing their spears at them.

In the beginning where young Elizabeth is singing a pirate's song-that song belongs to the Disneyland ride. It is the same song that Elizabeth and Jack are singing on the desert island and in the end Jack is singing that same song when he is sailing away in the Black Pearl.

In another Johnny Depp movie, Chocolat, his character, Rou, is announced by Anouk, the little girl, running inside and yelling, "They've come. They've come. Pirates."

When Jack and Will first board "The Duantless" they go down a flight of stairs, and Will jumps over the edge of the railing to the deck. This is almost exacaly alike to a shot in LOTR The Fellowship of the Ring, where Legolas jumps down from one staircase to another. It's a wide shot and you have to look close. (This happens right after Gandalf says "Swords are no more use here." Not where he jumps over the gap in another staircase)

It is kind of strange but there are alot of similatities between this movie and Titanic expecally after Elizabeth falls down the cliff, Commodore Noringtongets mad, Jack gets arrested, Elizabeth defends him, and a hand shake is exchanged. In Titanic after Rose desides not to kill herself and slips, Jack (Dawson)saves her. Cal gets mad and orders him arrested, Rose makes an excuse for him not to be arrested and Cal gives him a handshake. Weird huh?
