Who are the disabled?

If you meet any of these qualifications, you may be eligible for Social Security benefits.

People with work related injuries, or injuries resulting from sports, falls or accidents

People who have had a stroke or suffer from heart disease

People with CFS, chronic joint pain or fibromyalgia

People with mental health issues

People with eating disorders, digestive disorders, obesity or diabetes

People with spinal cord injuries, amputations, post-polio syndrome or motor dysfunction

People with significant loss of hearing, sight or speech

People with malignant or terminal diseases, i.e., cancer, Huntington's chorea, cirrhosis, leukemia or chronic anemias

People with neurological impairments, i.e., Tourette Syndrome, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, epilepsy or muscular dystrophy

People with respiratory diseases, i.e., chronic asthma, frequent episodes of pneumonia, tuberculosis, cystic fibrosis or emphysema

People with diseases of the immune system, i.e., AIDS, hepatitis or lupus

Children with birth defects, mental disorders or autism
