6th Trumpet

Hi there Truth Seeker, here I am back again,

You wrote:

Also i compared the 6th seal, 6th trumpet, and the 6th bowl; they seem to show different interpretations of the same event (2 contain information about the river Euphrates! )

The 7th seal, trumpet, and bowl all indicate noises, thunderings, earthquakes, and hail! I believe the Revealer of numbers has encoded a numerical, not chronological, order to the prophecy.

Rev. 8:5, 7;11:19;16: (i believe 12, 21 all speak of the same or similar events!) Oh yeah, every angel that had a trumpet sounded, right? So

why didn't we hear them?

My pastor’s trying to tell me that when Yeshua returns we'll hear it, but is that Scriptural or only fanciful thinking in describing by our own terms what will occur?

My answer:

We have already dealt with the sixth seal so now let’s look at the trumpets. We did "hear" some of the trumpets, but maybe didn’t recognise them for what they were. The Jews didn’t see John the Baptist as an Elijah but he was! Let’s look at that 6th one.

Revelation 9:13-21

And the sixth angel sounded [his trumpet], and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar [of incense/prayers] which is before God [in the sanctuary], saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, "Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates."

And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men. And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand [that’s a lot]: and I heard the number of them.

And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone. By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths. For their power is in their mouth, and in their tails: for their tails were like to serpents, and had heads, and with them they do hurt.

And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk: neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.

The voice of God tells the 6th trumpeter to give his warning. (Trumpets are warning instruments in the Bible, Numbers 10:2-3.) After he does so the event he was forecasting came into being. John saw a large number of horses and men. They are called "plagues" in verse 20 so they are not good for mankind.

They have been held back before this by the four special angels who look after the people of this world as much as they can. They particularly operate in the area of the "river Euphrates". If you check on the diagram I sent you of Revelation 17 you may see that water, the beast, Euphrates, the seven mountains, are all pictures of the same group of people, the laity or humans at large. Babylon, made up of the opposing church leaders, is shown as sitting on the Euphrates, which places the angels right where they are needed.

Revelation 7:1

And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind [of strife] should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.

The four angels represent God’s defenders here on earth and are not clearly defined. They can be humans in positions of authority such as Melchisedek in Jerusalem, Genesis 14, or real angels helping out Lot. Genesis 19:1. Sea is defined as "peoples" in Revelation 17:15 and trees as "mourners in Zion" (sad Christians) in Isaiah 61:3.

Then the horsemen are "loosed" for a time period and allowed to work their destruction for God can no longer protect the "worshippers of devils and idols". Using the day for a year principle, which you know about, that works out as a year = 360 days, a month = 30 days, a day = 1 day, making 391 years. The "hour" is 1/24 of a day (approximately two weeks), so we can get 391 years and 15 days of devastation.

Verse 12, which I didn’t quote, mentions that there are two more "woes" to come and this is one of them. During that period many men died as a result of the smoke from the horses’ mouths and tails!!! Verse 11 tells us that their king was "The Destroyer" so we know they were guided by the devil. It must have been a frightening vision for John to see and one which he struggled to describe.

But I believe that what he was seeing were great armies of men on horseback firing guns. Sometimes forwards past the horses’ heads and sometimes backwards past their tails. He would see them riding flat out and then the smoke and flash as the gun went off. Men died as a result of those flashes.

The period of time which this warning describes saw the introduction of guns into Europe and the attacks of the Turkish Empire against Christian Europe. This is why the true followers of God needed the knowledge (to look to Him for added protection) while the idol-worshippers suffered. There is no start or end date for this vision in the Bible so it must be searched for in history. I wrote a small article on this once so will send it to you separately. It’s called THE TIME PERIODS OF REVELATION EIGHT AND NINE.

This second "woe" of the sixth trumpet continues on through chapters 10-11 of Revelation until 11:15 when the seventh angel sounds his trumpet. At that time "the kingdoms of this world ARE BECOME the kingdoms of our LORD..." so that seems to be the end of the world as we know it, and Christ has left heaven for the second advent. That indicates that we are living right now under the sound of the sixth trumpet! During that time the sealed book (of Daniel 12:4) has been opened, it has been "eaten" once and will be again, the two witnesses will prophesy in sackcloth for 42 months, and the beast will come up out of the bottomless pit. Stirring times in which we live! Can you hear the angel’s warning?

The SEVENTH trumpet describes the events of the very last days just before the arrival of Christ. The seven last plagues etc. and the appearance of the Ten Commandments (they are in the ark of His Testament). And of course, a great earthquake.

Will look at the sixth bowl next time,

Regards,

Ron
