55-Gallon Tank
In my 55-gallon tank I have 2 silver dollars (Mylossoma duriventre), 6 Glow-Light Tetras (Hemigrammus erythrozonus), 4 Neon Tetras (Paracheirodon innesi), 3 Clown Loaches (Botia macracantha), and 1 Rainbow Shark (Epalzeorhynchus frenatus).  My silver dollars are about 5 inches and 4.5 inches long, and almost 4 and 3.5 inches tall, respectively.  The clown loaches are 3 inches, almost 3 inches, and 2.5 inches.  The smallest one has nearly jet black stripes, while the largest one has very faded gray stripes.  The middle-sized one's stripes are in-between.  The rainbow shark I have is almost 5 inches long, and his caudal fin (tail fin), pectoral fins, and dorsal fin are a very rich red (with a slight hint of orange).  The glow-light and the neon tetras are basically average sizes (2 inches and 1 inch).
I have one cave that the shark and the loaches share.  The cave is a large rectangular piece of shale (I think) with a piece of slate leaning against it.  The plants are plastic, and create a moderately planted look to my tank, leaving plenty of open swimming room for my silver dollars.  In the middle of the tank is a large replica Amazon sword, and on the two ends is one smaller sword each.  There is a piece of real driftwood that is hollow all the way down the middle.  My clown loaches can be seen loafing either in the wood or in the cave.  During the day the loaches are usually resting; they look for food on the gravel at nighttime.
I feed the fish TetraMin Tropical Flakes usually once per day.  All my fish eat the flakes, but the loaches only get what is left over.  My clown loaches receive as their staple diet TetraMin Variety Wafers and Wardley Spirulina Discs.  The shark also eats the wafers and discs, but not mainly as do the loaches.  For the silver dollars, I feed large cuttings of Water Sprite (Oriental Water Fern or Ceratopteris thalictroides), Amazon Sword Plant (Echinodorus amazonicus), and Water Wisteria (Hygrophila difformis) from my planted tanks.  I feed plant cuttings every time I trim my plants in the other tanks.
38-Gallon Tank
There are no fish in this tank as of August 18, 2003.  There are, however, many plants.
I have Aponogeton ulvaceus, two Amazon Sword Plants (Echinodorus amazonicus), Jungle/Giant Vals (Vallisneria sp.), Water Wisteria (Hygrophila difformis), Green Cabomba (Carolina Fanwort or Cabomba caroliniana), Green Hygro (Hygrophila polysperma), Water Sprite (Oriental Water Fern or Ceratopteris thalictroides), and Dwarf Sagittaria (Sagittaria subulata).
The lighting is a 36" 110 watt All-Glass Aquariums compact fluorescent light.  The bulbs are 9325°K G.E. "super daylite" fresh & saltwater color.
