Cabbage Patch Kids Koosas
HOME
Anyone alive in the 80s remembers Cabbage Patch Kids. Those ugly little dolls were all the rage the Christmas they debuted.People were actually stampeding and fighting in the aisles in order to obtain the coveted 'Kids.
Well the toy industry being what it is,there were quite a few spin offs produced. Bedsheets, Lunchboxes, backpacks and other merchandise quickly appeared. But the best thing to come out of the whole fiasco, yes even better than the dolls themselves, was the Koosas.
Koosas were animal versions of the Cabbage Patch Kids. Rather than being born in a vegetable patch, Koosas hailed from Wykoosa valley. They came in three varieties: Dogs, cats, and lions. Now I had little use for the feline Koosas. Both of mine were puppies. Tim, who had an orange and white striped body, yellow shorts and a brown and white tuft of fur between his bent floppy ears. His brother Jake looked similar, only his body was brown and he wore blue shorts.
Once you purchased your Koosa you could fill out some forms and send them in to oficcialy "adopt" them. If I remember correctly, you got a certificate with your Koosa's name printed on it and a sticker also bearing the name that you could stick onto the collor they came wearing.
By the way,the Koosa in the pic above is my very own Fang, purchased from Recycled toys. He came with the name Chubbaer on his tags but I changed it as I'm not sure how to pronounce it.
