Ganz Bros Wrinkles
HOME
Wrinkles were a line of plush hound dogs made by Ganzbros in the 1980s. They came in three sizes: Small, Medium and large.
The small ones were babies who sat on all fours. The medium and large ones had openings in the back of their head so they doubled as puppets. All came with a fabric bone.
The babies were dressed in bonnets, whereas the larger sizes came dressed in T shirts and overalls.Their fabric bones were held in the pockets of the overalls.
In each Wrinkles' ear was a bone shaped tatoo with the word Wrinkles in the middle,a sign that yours was an official Wrinkles pup. Yes, knockoffs did exist, foremost among them were the Kennel Klub dogs, who were almost as charming as the toys they sought to emulate.
Wrinkles weren't as heavily merchandised as many of their 80s contemperaries but a few items exist. I've seen miniature figures, TV dinner trays, posable figures and a video.
The video was live action. In it a girl's plush Wrinkles comes to life, then his family shows up. Goofy plush dog antics begin. It's been awhile since I've seen it so my memories are foggy.
My own Wrinkles was a caramel colored pooch named Hound.I didn't acquire him till my early teens.I ended up making him the hero of a series of ultraviolent comics I drew to pass the time in high school.
My current Wrinkles is a cream colored dog named Didymus.
