Saturday Day 1. Weather and waves a bit bleak as dawn revealed a stiff south east wind which made wave quality rather poor and wave selection critical. The opening heats and semi finals of the cadet U/16 boys, Junior U/18 boys, Open Womens and Senior mens were run. During the day the wind backed off and saw an improvement in wave quality. Early standouts were Sam Wrench, Matt Gale (juniors), Kiren Quinn, Justin Arnold (cadets), Yvonne Byron and Katherine Turk (open womens), Todd Prestage and Jake Spooner (senior mens). Sunday Day 2. The wind overnight went offshore and the conditions were almost perfect. 1 to 11/2 mtrs of east south east swell was ripe for the open mens. Tully Robinson, Tim Wrench, Nick Squires, Luke Nolan and the 3 Bartlett Boys Guy, Nathan and Byron all stood out early. The senior mens continued with Craig Morris and Jeremy Smith looking solid for the finals. The 0/40 Masters Mens saw a return of previous winners Chris Homer, Kym Wilson and Steve Sugden. The wind turned onshore around midday which saw a drop in wave quality but not the surfing. The wind backed off for the finals and saw a good local representation by local surfers in all finals except for the Open Womens. In the end it was Yvonne Byron in the open womens who was crowned 'Queen B of Jindalee', in recognition of Jindaleespa being exclusive sponsors of the Open Womens division. Tim Wrench made it back to back Open Mens, with younger brother Sam also taking back-to-back Junior crowns and his 5th Slash title in row. Riki Tucker pipped Keiren Quinn for the cadet U/16 boys. Todd Prestage went back to back in the senior mens with a split decision over fellow former WCT surfer Jake Spooner. Chris Homer claimed the 0/40 Masters and also created a record by claiming his 6th Slash crown.
