Afghan Hound page :

I have been involved with purebred dogs and the Canadian Kennel Club since 1992 when I bought my first Afghan Hound. His name was Wilson Pippa and although he was no show dog, he was my first true love. Wilson was soon followed by Molly, and a lifelong adventure began. I became active in Lure Coursing and Conformation shows and never looked back. I attended the Kanine Klipping School of Grooming and Design and have been a professional all-breed groomer since. I owned and operated a grooming/boarding business in Canmore, AB from 1993 until 2001; groomed in Calgary for a few years and in 2005, moved to Nova Scotia to open Windsor Pet Services with Roy Vatcher. I began competing in obedience trials in 1999 with my first doberman, earning a High in Class at his first trial! He soon completed his CD (and was ranked #7 obedience doberman in Canada that year with my female being #9)and I was totally hooked on trialing;please see below for a list of dogs I've titled. I attended Canada West Canine Centre (school for dog trainers)for the Obedience Trainer/Kennel Manager course in 1999; and returned for the Master Obedience Trainer later that year. I have since been teaching obedience classes and private lessons and am very rewarded by teaching people to understand their pet and increase the bond and enjoyment between family and dog. My methods are based on each dog & owners personal experience and individual temperament(s) and do not include using bait to entice a dog to learn or work. A dog works out of respect and will continue to respond consistently when the appropriate praise and attention are given (ie positive reinforcement). My dogs LOVE to work and are always complimented in and outside of the ring for their happy attitudes. I don't believe in overtraining or drilling dogs in exercises and think that my short attention span has served me well in this capacity!  I have been involved with breeding, training, & showing dobermans but am no longer active in the breed, my household currently consists of a ppd GSD; two afghan hounds (all are titled), a (rescue) rottweiler and a young working belgian malinois. Our future plans include developing a working line of malinois and to eventually have trained adults available.  From my schooling, I am certified to train dogs in tracking & detection work, service work, personal protection, police K9, security, as well as all levels of obedience. Please contact me with any questions, or just to talk dogs! I have also trained and trialed finished show dogs for other people with success.
