Whistle Down The Wind

Whistle Down The Wind opened at the Aldwych Theatre, London in July 1998. This is a really great Andrew Lloyd Webber musical - it is less complicated than Phantom/Sunset BLVD, but more thought provoking than Cats/Starlight Express.

The original cast included Marcus Lovett as "The Man", Lottie Mayor as "Swallow", Dean Collinson as "Amos" and Veronica Hart as "Candy".

Dean Collinson as "Amos" and Veronica Hart as "Candy" in the original cast, singing "Tyre Tracks and Broken Hearts".

The story follows some children who find a strange man in their barn and when the first words he utters are "Jesus Christ" they believe that it is him and that all their prayers have been answered.

The show brings up many important issues such as racism and religion, and there are some fabulous songs in the show. Some to look out for are: "Unsettled Scores", "Tyre Tracks and Broken Hearts" and my own personal favourite, "A Kiss is a Terrible Thing to Waste".

The sets and backgrounds are amazing - I was fascinated about the beautiful sky lines they had!!!

The cast I saw were fantastic. I saw Glenn Carter as "The Man" who was marvellous - wow can that bloke sing?! Laura Michelle Kelly was "Swallow", Dean Collinson was "Amos" and Veronica Hart was "Candy" - all three of them excellent.

There has recently been a cast change over. David Shannon has taken over the part of "The Man", Mark McGee is now playing "Amos" and Cat Simmons "Candy". Laura Michelle Kelly has stayed on as "Swallow".

David Shannon is excellent in his role, he has a very powerful voice. Mark McGee who most know from playing "Bobby C" in 'Saturday Night Fever' is fantastic as "Amos", he really gets to show off his amazing singing voice. To read an exclusive interview with Mark, visit:
